They played two rounds and both won one round each. Yue Yue suddenly smiled when they started with the third round of chess.
âYuan Yuan, if you lose, youâll have to give me a present, okay?â she said.
Yuan Yuan was speechless.
He blinked up at her in confusion. He didnât understand why he had to give Yue Yue a present when they were just playing chess.
âWhat kind of present do you want?â he asked because he had never given a female classmate a present.
Yue Yue cocked her head and thought for a moment before she said, âI want a dress.â
âA dress?â Yuan Yuan repeated with a frown.
Yue Yue said, âYes, Yuan Yuan, you will have to buy a beautiful dress for me if you lose this round.â
Yuan Yuan didnât know how to respond. He thought for a moment and remembered that his mother would buy new dresses for his sister every week, so all he had to do was to tell her to buy an extra dress for his classmate. This would also be his way of expressing his gratitude toward her because she would often give him snacks to eat, even though he didnât want to eat them.
The next round began and several minutes later, the outcome was decided. Yuan Yuan had lost. He felt that he wouldnât owe her anything if he were to buy her a present.
Xi Xi took pleasure in Yuan Yuanâs loss and laughed loudly when she saw that he had lost.
âHa Haâ¦â Xi Xi laughed so hard that her body shook. Then, she pointed at Yuan Yuan and said, âYuan Yuan, youâve lost. Now, youâll need to buy her a dress. Ha haâ¦â
Yuan Yuan glared at Xi Xi and said with displeasure, âI forbid you from laughing.â
Xi Xi continued to laugh and even ran into the kitchen where she announced loudly, âMom, Yuan Yuan is going to have to buy Yue Yue a dress.â
He Xiyan was kneading dough in the kitchen and turned to look at her daughter in confusion when she heard her announcement.
âWhy does he have to buy her a dress?â she asked.
Xi Xi replied, âYuan Yuan lost to her in chess, so he would have to buy her a dress. Momâ¦â
He Xiyan was speechless.
She looked completely dumbfounded. She finally understood that those children had placed a bet with each other. However, Yuan Yuan clearly didnât know how to go about buying a dress for a girl, so she would end up buying the dress for Yue Yue.
Oh well, she would buy Yue Yue a dress.
Yue Yueâs mother smiled so brightly that her joy exuded out from her.
âThe children are just playing, so donât take it seriously,â Chen Xi said with a smile.
She felt that her daughter was becoming cleverer. She was so young but had already learned how to seduce a boy.
On the other hand, Yue Yue sat cross-legged on the sofa and stuck very close to Yuan Yuan.
âYuan Yuan, I want a really fairy-like dress,â Yue Yue said and she felt extremely excited.
Yuan Yuan replied, âA fairy-like dress?â
âYes, I want a dress that will make me look as fairy-like as Lunlun the flower child.â
Yuan Yuan coughed softly and suddenly felt a headache coming on. He should have known not to play with female classmates since his male classmates would never ask for a dress if he were to lose at chess. Then again, he couldnât bring himself to play with his male classmates either. He thought that the games they enjoyed playing were very childish.
He Xiyanâs children remained at Yue Yueâs house for quite some time. They had dinner together and she only brought her children home at 5 PM that evening.
She learned how to make two kinds of cookies and although her baking skills werenât as good as Yue Yueâs mother, at least she could make those cookies now.
She planned to bake cookies at home too when she had time.
She wasnât working and was just a full-time mother, so she needed to do something to occupy herself.
She drove back toward the castle and she joked and laughed along with her children during the ride home. Xi Xi, in particular, would make her laugh loudly. He Xiyan didnât know that there was a man waiting at the castle for her and this time, he had even brought something for her.
