I reached the headmaster's office and knocked on her door.
"Come in." I went in after hearing her approval.
She smiled as I entered. I smiled back.
"Take a seat my dear." She said. I did as told and faced her.
"So is there something important you wanted to tell me?" I asked. "I actually called you to tell you something about your other power. But you'll have to wait for a bit." She said. I looked at her curiously.
Suddenly we heard a knock on the door. After Mrs. Withersfield gave her consent the door opened to reveal.....
LORI AND ALEX???!!!!!
I looked at them in surprise and they mirrored my expression.
"Come in girls." Mrs. Withersfield said and they too took a seat beside me.
I wonder why they are here too? Wait. Don't tell me. Do they have 2 powers too?
"Yes Melanie. You all have 2 powers each." Mrs. Withersfield read my mind and said.
"You'll both too?!" Lori asked. Alex and I nodded.
"I called you'll to tell you some things regarding your second power." Mrs. Withersfield started.
"Lori you have the water element and along with that Telekinesis. Right?" She asked. Lori nodded. Wow. Telekinesis. It means that she can levitate things and even people right?
"Yes Melanie." Mrs. Withersfield said. Did I say that aloud or did she read my mind again?
"You said it aloud sweetheart." She said. Oh. Sorry.
"And Alex you have the Earth element and the power to become invisible right?" She continued. Alex nodded.
"And Melanie..." She looked at me.
"You have the fire element and the air element right?" She asked. I nodded.
"She has two elements?!" Alex and Lori shouted. As they both sat on either side of me they screamed directly in my ear. I shut my ears cringing a bit.
"Oww." I said. They gave me an apologising look.
"Since you girls have two powers you'll will have an extra class so that you'll can master your second power. It will mostly be around 6 pm to 7 pm or so. I'll tell you'll where exactly you'll will have your classes." Mrs.Withersfield said.
We nodded.
"If you'll want any help please don't hesitate to come to me." She said.
"And it would be better if you'll all live in the same room. Melanie and Lorraine, the room you'll are currently residing in is very big and has three rooms so Alexia I want you to shift into their room. Here's your key Alexia. You'll may leave now." She said and we left.
We walked together in silence for a while.
After we reached our room, I looked at both of them. And suddenly we all three squealed loudly.
"Oh my god! I can't believe we all have two powers!" Lori whisper - yelled. Alex and I nodded.
"I know right! This is so cool!" I said.
"And now we all are gonna be roomies!!" Alex said. We did a group hug before going in our room.
Alex had gone to get her stuff here while Lori and I just sat on the couch watching TV.
We heard the door open and in came Alex with 2 suitcases and a huge duffle bag. We helped her unpack.
"Finally!" I said and laid down on the floor. They copied me and we all stared up at the ceiling. I checked my watch. 8:20 pm. I got up.
"Come on let's go for dinner." As soon as I said this, Lori's tummy growled in hunger. We all laughed before leaving our room. But before we left I wore my precious black hoodie.
"Do you need to wear that hoodie, Mel?" Alex asked.
"I don't wanna be stared at weirdly." I said.
"You have to face it someday." She said. "Just let me wear it for now." I said. She nodded and we walked while making small talk.
I pushed open the doors of the main hall and we saw that not many students were there on the first year side. You see, the main hall is divided into different parts. The seats on the extreme left is for first years; us, then for the second years, third years, then fourth years and so on. Not many first years were present so it was a bit empty. We went and stood in the short queue.
We grabbed our trays and took our seats. I was then suddenly hugged from behind. I turned to see that it was Jeanette. Sophia did the same with Lori while Chelsea just came and sat beside Alex, across me. Sophia went and sat beside Chelsea, in front of Lori while Jeanette sat beside me.
I wiped a tear from my eye and tried to stop laughing. Lori was in the same position as me. Sophia cracks amazing jokes. I couldn't stop laughing at all!!
I looked at the time. 9:30 pm. I should head back now. I even have to call mom and dad. I got up threw the trash.
"Guys I'm gonna head back to our room. Are you'll coming?" I asked.
"We'll join you later, Mel." Alex said. I nodded and left the main hall.
On my way I bumped into a guy. Not just any guy, but the one who had silvery white hair with light blue streaks.
He glared at me and walked away. How rude! Just because he's good looking does not mean he can act so arrogant! I just ignored him and went on ahead.
I changed into my pajamas and sat on my bed. I grabbed my phone and dialed my mom's number. A few seconds later she picked it up .
"Hello?"
"Hey mom!"
"Melanie?! How are you?"
"I'm fine, mom."
"Hey is everything there? How was your first day? Did you make any new friends? How's your room? Is it comfortable? Are your roommates nice and decent?"
I chuckled. Moms.
"It's all good here mom. It was nice. Yes I made 5 new friends. My room's amazing. My roommates are two of the new friends I made and they're all very nice."
"Great! How's the food? Is it of your liking?"
"Yeah. It's good."
"Just good? How abo -" She stopped talking and I heard a voice in the background. "Honey, is that Mel?"
Dad!
"Mel?"
"Hey dad!"
"How are you Mel?"
"I'm fine. What about you'll?"
"Oh sweetheart! I wish you could hear how happy and proud all your Uncles, Aunts and cousins are! After all you're the first one in our family to get into Elemental Academy at such a young age."
I wonder how they'll feel when they get to know that I have the Fire element?
"By the way, what power did you get honey?"
"I got the Fire element."
"Really?! You got the Fire element?!"
I heard a scream and then some shuffling there.
"Is that true cupcake?!"
So mom screamed and snatched the phone from dad.
Please don't be disappointed.
"Yea."
"Oh my god! That's great!"
I was confused.
"Wait. You aren't disappointed?"
"Disappointed? Why would I be?"
"Cause I didn't get any your or dad's powers?"
"We certainly are not disappointed in you, sweetie. In fact I'm actually quite happy. You see, my mother, your grandmother, had the fire element. She passed away years before you were born. I always thought that you resembled her a lot. You'll have the same eating habits, your love for reading books, only she liked the classics. You also have the same eyes as her and her smile too. Your features are quite similar to her. I have always thought that she came back to me as you."
Wow. I didn't know that. I mean Dad told me that I resembled her a lot and we had the same eyes and smile but I didn't know we had so much in common. I wish I could have met her.
"Why didn't you tell me all this before?"
"You never asked about her so we thought you wouldn't be interested ad talking about her kind of saddened me so..."
"I get it."
We spoke for some more time before she said that I should go off to sleep. Saying that beauty sleep is very important. Bleh. Whatever. Though I treasure my sleep a lot too.
I went into the living room and found my two roommates sitting on the couch with popcorn in hand.
"Guys it's quite late already. We should go to bed. We even have extra classes tomorrow." I said.
"Come join us Mel!" Lori said. I looked at what movie they were seeing.
"No." I said without hesitation. I am so not seeing a horror film that too late at night.
"Oh come on , don't be a party pooper!" Alex said.
"Still no." I said. They both looked at each other and smirked.
"Someone's scared of horror movies." Alex said.
"I am not." I said.
"Prove it." She said.
"Fine." I said. I knew what I was getting myself into but I still went and sat beside Alex.
Oh I'm so gonna regret this. I already do. Damn it all!
