I got up and sat on my bed. I walked towards the bathroom and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I had dark circles under my eyes because I couldn't sleep yesterday at all.
I had a quick shower and wore my white robe around my small body before walking out. I saw Garry sleeping on the bed all curled up. How cute.
I quickly changed into beige shorts and a white tank top. Since my hair was wet I let it down. It fell on my shoulders in waves.
I wore my usual sneakers and checked the clock. 6:30 am. It's quite early. I don't think anyone will be awake. They usually wake up around 7 am.
I walked downstairs and into the kitchen only to find Shawn sitting on the table with a cup of coffee in one hand and the newspaper in another.
He looked up at me as soon as I walked. I stared into his eyes for a bit before going to the kitchen counter to make myself a cup of coffee too.
I sat across him and sipped my coffee.
There was an awkward silence between us.
Few minutes passed with none of us speaking a word to each other.
Should I tell him? It's only the two of us after all. How should I start off? Oh forget it! I'll just say it directly!
"Shawn I - " I started off but stopped midway when I heard footsteps.
We both looked behind me to see Bryson and Drew. Bryson was yawning loudly while Drew smiled once he saw us.
I smiled back.
"Good morning guys." I said.
"Good morning Melanie, Shawn." Drew said.
"What's so good about this morning? Good morning anyways." Bryson said and sat down beside me while Drew sat beside Shawn.
Ugh. Why did they need to come right when I was about to confess?
"I think something really out of the world is gonna happen today." Bryson muttered but we all heard it. I turned to him.
"Why do you say so?" I asked.
"Why wouldn't I? You for a change got up early today." He said trying to stifle his laughter. I pouted and punched his shoulder slightly.
"Shut up."
He just snickered.
"Did you sleep well Melanie?" Drew asked. I turned to him.
"Why do you ask?"
"Cause you look really tired and you have dark circles under your eyes." Drew said.
"Uh..I couldn't sleep well last night because...because my whole body was aching after that rough training Garry gave me." I lied.
I didn't want to lie but how could I tell them that I was awake the whole night thinking on how I should confess to Shawn? That would be just too embarrassing.
"Oh okay." Drew said not believing my lie at all but he didn't delve into it further for which I was thankful.
"Melanie..." I turned and saw Garry slowly floating towards me still a bit sleepy.
I stretched out my arms so as to catch him. He quickly came and nustled into my arms.
"Morning everyone." He said before taking a huge yawn.
"Morning." We all said.
"Hey Shawn where's Rose?" Garry asked. I smirked.
"Aww. Are you missing her?" I asked teasingly. Garry looked away in slight embarrassment.
"Yeah Garry, missing her a lot eh?" Bryson added while Shawn smirked and Drew just smiled. He's too nice.
Garry was about to say something when we heard someone speak.
"Who's Garry missing?" A really sleepy Rose came in and landed on Shawn's head. Not that he minded by the way.
"N - No one!!" Garry yelled loudly. Rose cringed.
"If you don't wanna tell me don't tell. Just please don't yell. You know my ears are sensitive." Rose said.
"Yeah. Sorry." Garry whispered in a low voice.
"So who were you'll talking about?" She asked again. I smirked.
"Oh Rose, Garry was just missi-"
"Come on Melanie! We need to start our training!! Let's go!" Garry said cutting me off and dragging me outside. I looked back at them only to see the guys smirking and laughing slightly while Rose sat there in utter confusion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We walked towards the same place where we were training yesterday.
"Garry you could have told her how you really felt you know. It was a perfect chance. Stop being a wimp and go for it." I said.
He scoffed.
"I don't want to hear that from someone who herself can't confess her feelings to the guy she likes. Really likes."
"That...well...I...." I started off.
"See? We both are afraid. And we both aren't going to do it." He said. I sighed. He does have a point.
"But..." I looked up at him.
"If I do confess my feelings to her, would you tell him yours?" He asked. I thought about it. If I said yes, I'll be able to get Garry and Rose together (if she says yes as well, which I'm more than sure she will) and that would also encourage me to tell Shawn my feelings and who knows, he might just reciprocate them. He did after all almost kiss me that one time in the hallway.
"Okay." I said. He smiled. I smiled back.
"But for now let's get back to training." He said while I groaned slightly. It's not that I don't want to strengthen my elements, it's just that Garry makes me do more of physical exercise rather than make me train my powers.
"Fine fine." I said and we began today's training.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I think we can stop for today." Garry said and I sighed in relief.
"I think it's about to rain. We should head back inside." He said. I nodded and looked up. And sure there were some dark grey clouds hovering high above us. It's gonna rain heavily.
"Yea. Let's go." I said and we walked inside.
Once inside I saw Alex and Lori in the small backyard practicing their powers. Drew and Bryson were there too helping them out. I looked around but didn't find Shawn or Rose anywhere. Garry sat down on the couch.
I walked into the backyard and asked them, "Hey guys, where are Shawn and Rose?"
"They went out to train." Drew said.
"But it's about to rain heavily." I told them.
"Shawn said the same thing but Rose still wanted to go so he agreed. But I think there's gonna be lightning and thunder too." Alex said looking up.
And no later did she say that, it started pouring down heavily.
We all rushed inside and dried ourselves with a towel.
"Rose and Shawn went out for training a bit. Rose insisted." I told Garry once I came in.
"What?!! But Rose is damn scared a lightning and thunder! Oh no! Oh no! I'm going to go look for her!" He said and rushed outside the house. I didn't feel like leaving him so I rushed behind him.
"Mel/Melanie!!" My friends called out to me but I didn't listen.
After running for a bit in the rain we stopped under a tree to catch our breath.
My clothes were extremely drenched and had became slightly heavy because of the water absorbed into it.
"Come on." I said and started my search again.
"Wait! I can hear Rose's whimper. It's...It's coming from that direction." Garry said and we ran in the direction he pointed at.
And it was true. We saw Shawn and Rose sitting under a tree. Shawn trying to calm Rose while Rose kept whimpering and screaming when there was another thunder.
"Rose!!" Garry yelled and darted towards them. Rose looked up as she heard Garry's voice and detached herself from Shawn to hug Garry.
I slowly walked towards them and stood beside Shawn while Garry and Rose were embracing each other.
"I love you Rose!!" Garry all of a sudden yelled. Rose and I both looked up at him in shock while Shawn just widened his eyes slightly.
"G - Garry...R - Really?" Rose asked.
"Yea. I really love you." He repeated.
"Oh Garry! I love you too!!" Rose said and hugged Garry even more tightly.
I mentally 'Aww' ed in my mind. I was smiling the whole time when I suddenly realised the deal Garry and I had made. I gulped slightly. My turn I guess.
"Why did you come all the way here to find us in the pouring rain?" Shawn asked me. I looked into his icy blue eyes which were slightly covered by his damp hair.
"Well...Garry ran out of the house when I told him you'll both were out and since I couldn't leave him alone I ran after him too." I said partly lying.
The truth was, even though I know Shawn was very strong and capable of handling himself even in rough situations, I got panicky and ran behind Garry to find him as well. I got scared that something bad would happen to him.
"And you're lying just like you lied in the morning." He said. My eyes widened.
"So now tell me the truth." He said.
"Okay, okay. I was worried about you. There. Happy?" I told him slightly annoyed at myself that he could so easily read me.
I looked up to see him smirking. I huffed.
"Thanks. For worrying about me." He softly whispered in my ear.
I felt a shiver run down my spine. I wanna think it was because I was drenched and was feeling cold but even I couldn't make myself even think that it was because of that and not because Shawn was standing extremely close to me.
I saw Garry give me the eye. I nodded.
It's time I guess.
I turned to Shawn and he turned as well.
"What?" He asked.
"I..I love you!!"
