It was rare that Wednesday made exceptions. But when unusual circumstances force your hand, stranger exceptions can be made.

A green and cream envelope had been slipped under her dorm door, addressed to Wednesday. Someone had asked her to meet up at the most southern greenhouse on the Nevermore site at twelve am, and they never specified who the sender was. It was safe to say, Wednesday's boundless curiosity had been peaked- she could only hope that a cat would be killed as result of her curiosity.

By the time she had left her dorm, at around eleven forty-five, Enid was sound asleep and completely unaware so she left a note, just in case she was needed- or in case she went missing permanently.

Her thick black boots echoed heavily down the halls of Ophelia Hall, cutting through the otherwise quiet night. A couple of other stray students who had snuck out sat around, the majority making out and hidden around stone columns or archways.

Once she reached the chilly outdoors, she headed to the botanical branch of the school, just as the letter had said.

Wednesday raised a brow as she approached the most southern greenhouse- and what an odd greenhouse it was. The glass panels extended far above those on the roof and we're jagged. Many of the panels had actually smashed and from what she could see through the condensated glass, there were no plants inside- clearly odd for a greenhouse. She cocked her head. Drawing a deep breath, she pulled the door open, a line of condensated water dripped down on the sandy soil as it squeaked open.

She took a few steps in. A number of dim lights lined the apex of the glass and rusted metal roof, offering little light. The wooden planters stood close to a foot and a half tall- which definitely didn't have any plants in, just a thick layer of soil and moss. The shape of the warehouse was hexagonal and longer than it was wide by a considerable amount. There seemed to be more vegetation between the broken bricks that lined the pathways than there were anywhere else. There also blew a steady breeze thanks to the greenhouse's dilapidated state.

She looked around as she tried to find the stranger who wrote her the note. There appeared to be no sign of anyone- at least, the dim lights made it hard to find anyone. That's when out of the corner of her eye, Wednesday spotted a silhouette morning.

She turned on the point of her heels to get a better look. Her brows narrowed as he noticed they seemed to be... Stabbing something- someone?

Her eyes widened slightly as she called out, "Hello."

The figure's arm stopped moving as they stood. They slowly, approached and moved under the dimn candle light above. Wednesday released a slight sigh of disappointment. "Ah, Wednesday." Y/N spoke, a rife smile on her lips. "I'm glad you came."

She nodded briefly. "Why am I here?" She asked plainly, unsure of what they were both there for. She was almost pleased to be there- spending time alone with Y/N- almost. It was late, and she was tired.

"Oh- Of course." Y/N blurted, clearly too engrossed in admiring the girl before her to further explain why she had asked Wednesday to come to this greenhouse at such an ungodly hour. She grabbed Wednesday's hand and pulled her deeper into the glass structure. Wednesday didn't bother pulling away- she didn't mind Y/N touching her, although she would have preferred being given some kind of warning before she was tugged into a walk. Y/N stopped at a planter at the end of the greenhouse. "You are aware of Vervain, aren't you?" She asked as she let go of Wednesday's hand to caress the long leaves of the lush green plant to their left.

Wednesday nodded. "Of course, the enchanter's herb." She nodded. She had read about the plant before- early human civilisations believed that it could be used in potions and elixirs for good health- Though, normies never possessed the magical capabilities to reveal the depths of its uses.

"Great." Y/N mused as she then pointed to the right of the Vervain. "This is Rugwart." She added with a smile. The other plant was odd- Wednesday had never seen it before- nor had she heard of it. It was much like the Vervain in the sense that its leaves were long and luscious- but this plant seemed to have little dots of fungus along the spines of the leaves- and the fungus was pulsing. She reached her hand out to touch it, but Y/N's hand stopped her before she could. "I wouldn't unless you want to start spazzing out." Y/N warned warmly before letting go of her wrist.

Wednesday furrowed her brows but nodded her head. "So why do you need me." She asked, looking at the side profile of Y/N's face. She was certainly pretty- just looking at her made her heart flutter. She hated it.

"You don't mind bleeding a little, do you, Wednesday?" Y/N asked, her voice quiet and curious as she reached into her pocket, pulling out a small pocket knife. Wednesday raised a brow at the sight of the knife. She trusted Y/N enough to not expect her to stab her there and then. "I saw this spell in one of my grandma's old herbology-spell books- half of the page was missing- the half that explained what the spell would do." She explained. "Although, it still had the instructions to the spell. I suspect that my grandma ripped out the second half of the page so I would try this one." She added as she turned her head to look at Wednesday.

"Do you not perhaps think that there was good reason for your grandmother not wanting you to try this?" Wednesday asked, craning her head as she tried to read the expression on Y/N's face- although she could tell that she was already overrun with blazing curiosity. There would be no changing her mind.

"Of course." Y/N answered with a brief nod. "But that's exactly why we need to do it."

Wednesday's gaze settled on Y/N's soft lips and the mischievous smirk that lay on them. She couldn't resist. She would do anything for Y/N- even if that meant being the sacrifice for this spell. Her eyes turned to the two plants that sat in the same planters. "Alright, what do we need to do?" Wednesday asked.

Y/N's smile grew wider as she turned parallel to the small girl. "Nothing much- hold out your hand." She demanded gently. Wednesday did so, lifting and holding out her hand for Y/N to take. Y/N flipped the blade open on her knife and pushed Wednesday's sleeve up past her elbow. She then gently took the back of Wednesday's hand in the palm of her own. She rested the blade on the up-facing palm. "This will hurt a little." She warned. Wednesday merely nodded in response- as if telling Y/N that it was alright and that she didn't mind a bit of pain. Y/N smirked and dug the blade into her hand before slicing across, leaving a neat gash in her palm. Wednesday winced as blood started to pool in her hand. Satisfied with her work, Y/N turned to her own hand, doing the same and digging the blade in and creating a gash. She gritted her teeth and shut her eyes tight as she did it until the cut was finished. She let her eyes open and took Wednesday's sliced open hand in her own, intertwining their fingers and holding both their hands over the plants. Each of their elbows hovered over each of the two plants. Y/N squeezed Wednesday's hand tight as the blood started to drip down each of their bare arms to their elbows from which droplets of their mixed blood dropped onto the leaves of the plants. Y/N squeezed harder, making even Wednesday herself wince.

The two plants started to billow with steam as Y/N pulled their hands away just in time to avoid them being broiled. She kept a hold of the other girl's hand as she pulled her back a few paces, her eyes bright with excitement and joy. The steam made the greenhouse hotter than it already was and the condensation grew thick on the panes of glass. The scent made from the two was sweet as Y/N could barely make out tendrils from each plant growing out to one another- each plant linking the gap between them. The fog grew more dense as both Wednesday's and Y/N's clothes, skin and hair grew damp and dew covered. After a moment, the steaming stopped and the plants stopped intertwining around one another.

Wednesday raised a brow. "Was that it?" She asked. The plants had grown twice their original height and had seemingly merged into one large shrub.

"I don't know-" Y/N was cut off as the white dots on the leaves grew red and increased in size as they pulsed. "Uh-oh." She muttered with a hard gulp. The dots became bulbs and they sagged off of the leaves before they each popped, one by one- releasing small red spores that neither of them could avoid breathing in. The greenhouse became a haze of red while they both wheezed- trying to cough out the spores that were rapidly entering their lungs. It was too late.

Wednesday could feel her eyes growing heavy as her legs felt like they weren't touching the floor- despite her being stood upright. "What happening?" She questioned. The scent grew stronger- making her tongue tingle and her nose buzz. She couldn't quite explain the way she felt but she knew she felt amazing- like she was floating in a cloud of sugary bliss. She found herself breathing deeper as to inhale more of the small red spores- which seemingly only increased the effects.

"I have no idea." Y/N commented with a grin on her lips, also doing the same- inhaling spores upon spores. She looked at Wednesday to find she was already looking at her. The two pursed their lips before they burst- much like the plants- into fits of laughter. They latched onto one another as joyous noises left their mouths. They swayed from side to side- each with their arms wrapped tight around one another as they almost danced to the non-existent beat of a song only they could hear. Y/N tripped on Wednesday's feet, pushing her over. Thanks to their arms being to wrapped up around one another, Y/N fell down with her, landing directly on top of the other girl, their faces just mere inches away from one another- but it didn't stop their laughter.

Wednesday could feel heat rush to her cheeks and in her stomach- like a blaze of warm glee was building up in her guts. it all felt so foreign to her- being so happy and joyful, and she couldn't deny that it was certainly a delightful experience. As the two locked eyes once more, their laughs subsided into giggles, then snickers, then hiccups- all throughout they gazed into one another's eyes.

Y/N found that her tongue ran along her top lip as she looked down at Wednesday- her legs straddled either side of Wednesday's waist. For some time she had wished to be in such a position. She studied Wednesday's features- her light freckles and her dark lips and darker eyes. She found that her lips were being drawn closer to Wednesday's. She could feel her own heart beat as well as Wednesday's- and not because they were pressed up so close to one another- in fact, Y/N could feel everything that Wednesday was feeling from the warmth in her cheeks to the soreness in her ribs from laughing. She could feel it all. She guessed that was thanks to the fact their blood had mixed in the spell. Their bodies pressed together heatedly against the floor, breathing heavily as their lips pressed together. Y/N could taste the spores in Wednesday's mouth, she feel the thud of their combined heartbeat as Y/N's bloodied hand reached to cup Wednesday's jaw. Her lips were soft, almost silken and pillowy against her own. She could feel the soft tickle of her breath beneath her nose, Wednesday's fingers traveling up Y/N's sweater like the thin, cold hands of death- and she welcomed death's touch against her smooth skin like an old lover as they breathed one another in. They were submerged in utter bliss. They pulled apart, gasping for air- and inevitably more spores creating a second wind of that magical, floating feeling.

If the greenhouse had not have been so dilapidated and broken down, the spores would have likely drowned the two- but thankfully, before things grew too heated between the two, the spores escaped out of the many broken and missing glass panels. They each pulled apart, Y/N falling beside Wednesday as she finally breathed in some clear air.

They each panted heavily for a long five minuets- both silent as they cleared their lungs of spores- gradually coming down from the mountainous high they had just been on. "That was amazing." Y/N whispered. She gazed up at the condensated glass panes above- just able to make out the brightest starts in the night sky through the wet mess on the glass.

"Yes." Wednesday agreed. Her cheeks hurt from both smiling too much and kissing Y/N so passionately. She sat up and looked down at Y/N. "Tell anyone about this and I will make sure you don't have enough blood left to ever do anything like this ever again." She threatened as she got to her feet. Y/N let out a little laugh at Wednesday's threat, knowing it held no real danger. Wednesday's head pounded as she groaned. She looked down at the deep gash in her hand (that had at some point stopped bleeding) and a slight smirk was brought to her lips. She reached her hand out to Y/N, who took it. Wednesday helped pull her to her feet and didn't let go of her hand once she was on her feet. She'd never thought she would ever get high before but she was glad she did. "Was that what you were expecting?" Wednesday questioned, nodding towards the plant.

"It far surpassed anything I was expecting." Y/N confirmed with a smile. "Seems that curiosity doesn't always kill the cat, mm? Although I can definitely see why grandma didn't want me to see that page." She joked. Wednesday rolled her eyes and started heading towards the exit of the greenhouse. Y/N followed, their fingers still intertwined. "Y'know we should do this again- maybe when were not high. What do you think?" Y/N asked, pushing the greenhouse door open for Wednesday, who walked through. Y/N followed out behind her.

"I couldn't agree more." Wednesday commented, leaning into Y/N as they walked back towards Nevermore's main building and Ophelia Hall where they both resided. "How about you come to my room tonight." She suggested, entirely unsure if it was still the spores speaking.

Y/N felt a pull at her lips and kissed her cheek. "Great idea." She chimed.
