01 - Chapter One - Leno's Point Of View.

I watched as the getting to be rounder Felix with Wyatt and Dakota

took off to the summit. Four weeks without the alpha and the Luna

around. Diego was on edge; it wasn't that hard to see with the way he'd

been pacing since they had left. I wanted to do something to help him

but I knew he would reject my attempts to ease his annoyance or

whatever else he was feeling. Felix and Dakota had taught me many

things to help ease the jobs he had to do. I was taught how to do some

of the paperwork and other small tasks.

"Leno goddamn it stop watching me, I'm already on edge enough. Go

and make yourself useful.”

The urge to say something to him was there but I didn't want to start a

fight. Living in the same space as Diego had taught me many things,

such as he didn't like stuff to be moved. He liked everything to go back

to the spot it had come from. He preferred silence or a very limited

amount of background noise. He was also a complete and utter clean

freak. Which was shocking for a wolf.

Turning and leaving the room I heard him sigh. Lately, things with

Diego have been weird. One day he had shoved me up against the wall

and rocked my world with a kiss. But when I brought it up he gave me a

bullshit excuse and told me to leave it at that. Something about how

the mating pull made him kiss me. I know he thought I was stupid but

did he think I was that stupid.

Leaving the Alphas office area I went back to our shared home and

proceeded to make one hell of a mess, called Cookies.

The cookies were pulled out of the oven and cooled by the time Diego

came back. He took one look at the mess and you could see the

straight-up murder in his eyes. If I wasn't his mate, I'd probably be

dead. He grabbed a cookie and snarled out words as he left the kitchen

Clean this mess now.

I couldn't help but laugh a little that he actually took one of my cookies

That was a first. After placing all the cooled cookies into a plastic

container to keep them fresh I started to clean the holy mess I made of

the kitchen. The dishes were a shit show all on their own. they had to

soak before I could scrub the holy heavens out of them. I could hear

Diego cleaning stuff right up above the kitchen which meant he was in

my room. He wasn't happy until the whole house was clean and put

away to his control.

I finally got around to scrubbing the dishes now that they had soaked

long enough. too long if you asked Mr. clean freak, but hey that's him.

After cleaning the dishes I wiped down the countertops and put away

the pans that were clean but I didn't feel like putting back then. Taking

a few cookies out of the container I grabbed a glass of milk and sat

down. I ate my cookies in complete bliss. The little chocolate chunks

were so sweet and yummy as they cascaded over my taste buds.

Hearing Diego on the stairs I dashed to put away the dishes and got to

the last one when my foot hit the water and I slid across the floor,

straight for the fridge.

As if out of fear I closed my eyes and left them closed waiting for the

pain of trying to make love with the fridge. The pain never came,

instead, I felt warm hands on my arms and had to open my eyes. Diego

had saved me from making babies with the fridge. I went to thank him

but he grabbed the container of cookies and spoke as he left the room.

"Be careful."

Well, what in the holy shit. He fucking saved me, he actually fucking

saved me. That was so shocking to me. Sitting on one of the chairs in

the kitchen I was shocked. He was hostile to me always, but now he was

kind and saved me. That was weird to me. So weird.
