Bright sunlight hit my eyes and I groaned as I tried to turn to the side. I heard a grunt as I accidentally rolled on top of the person lying next to me. I rolled back a bit and shifted my body so I wouldn't be facing the light, but I wouldn't be squishing the person next to me. I yawned as I opened my eyes slightly, blinking a couple times to clear my vision. I smiled when I saw Jade's relaxed face. I couldn't help myself as I pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead and brought her into my arms. Jade nuzzled her head into the crook of my neck as I heard her murmer something inaudible. I felt Jade press a sleepy kiss on my neck, the touch sending shivers down my spine. I chuckled softly as she raised her head slightly, blinking her eyes in confusion. Her blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight, and I smiled at her.
"Morning Jadey," I murmered, Jade smiled sleepily.
"Mornin..." she murmered, her voice raspy from sleep.
I smiled, I loved her morning state. Her sleepiness was just plain endearing. Jade snuggled up against me even more as I wrapped my arms around her a little tighter.
"What time is it?" Jade murmured quietly as she stifled a yawn.
"Um, it's..." I started as I turned my head to look at the clock on our bedside table. "...6:45."
"Should we get up?" Jade asked, her forehead creased as she frowned.
"Probably should... I have an early shift today," I groaned as I released Jade, she huffed.
"Work work work. Always work," Jade grumbled, I chuckled.
"C'mon, you've got to get up too. You have work as well Jadey," I said as I poked Jade's nose.
"Why? I just want to sleep," Jade groaned.
"Hey, what are the kids going to do without their teacher?" I asked as I smiled at Jade, she sighed.
Jade, or should I say Ms. Adler, was a teacher at a preschool near our home. She was such a natural with kids, so the job suited her well.
"I can call in sick... just one day..." Jade muttered, her eyes fluttered close as she tried to go back to sleep.
"C'mon Jadey, get up or else someone doesn't get a morning kiss," I said with a smirk, in a flash Jade was sitting upright, her eyes wide.
"Okay okay I'm up! Can I get a kiss?" Jade asked, her eyes wide with expectation.
"Mm... after you brush your teeth," I said giggling, Jade scoffed.
"Tease," Jade grumbled as she hurried off to the bathroom.
I smiled to myself, chuckling softly from her reaction as I grabbed some clothes and went to the other bathroom downstairs. Jade was just... so cute, and perfect in every way.
I slid out of my pajamas and stepped in the shower, brushing my teeth as I showered. A couple minutes later, I was out, wearing my uniform and putting my hair up in a messy bun. I heard the squeak of the bathroom door opening upstairs, the sound of Jade's feet rushing down the stairs following it. I felt a surge of affection when I saw Jade. She was wearing jeans and a cute yellow top with her glasses. Jade could make anything look good in all honesty.
Or I was just that whipped.
"Now can I get a kiss?" Jade whined, her blue eyes hopeful.
"Now you can," I said giggling as I placed a kiss on her lips.
Jade smiled into the kiss as she cupped my face, causing my heart to flutter. Feeling her smile into the form of simple affection was one of the best feelings. Nothing could compare to it. We broke apart a few moments later, our cheeks flushed.
"We should probably get going..." Jade said as she glanced as the clock.
I glanced at the clock too and I gasped when I saw it was 7:20.
"Jade, my shift starts in ten minutes!" I yelled in a panic.
Jade's eyes widened and she quickly grabbed the keys as she rushed outside, me right behind her. I slammed the door behind me as we got into our vehicle. Jade sped to the diner, nearly running through several red lights to get to the diner as soon as possible.
Sorry laws, not abiding you today I'm afraid.
Jade pulled in front of the diner and stopped the car with a screech.
"I'll pick you up later, bye Kat," Jade said as she gave me a quick peck on the cheek.
"Bye babe, have fun, hope I don't make you late for work," I said hurriedly as I gave her a quick smile, jumping out of the car and slamming the door behind me as I rushed into the diner.
"Three... two..." I heard Don say as he intently looked at his watch.
"I'm here dammit!" I yelled, Don jumped.
"Right on time," Don said with a smirk, I glared at him.
"Alright people, let's get to work!" I said loudly, everyone nodded in response as customers started arriving.
I glanced at the clock as I wiped down the tables a couple hours later. 2:47, Jade already finished her work day, she should be here soon to pick me up. I heard Don clear his throat behind me, I turned around as I raised an eyebrow at him.
"So, Katelyn..." Don started, I rolled my eyes, where was this going to go?
"What do you want Don?" I asked bluntly.
"Look, you're good looking, I'm good looking. How about I take you on a date?" Don asked with a smirk.
"You're so full of yourself," I said as I tried to move away from Don.
He put his hands on either side of me on the table, trapping me between the table and his body. I bit my lip nervously as the table dug into my back, the feeling painful but it was the only way I could get as far away from Don as possible. One of his hands moved to my hip and I swallowed as a rush of fear hit me.
"In a good way. So how about it babe? I'll make sure you have a good time..." Don said, I could see the lust in his eyes as his face came closer to mine, the expression making me uncomfortable.
"Well you see, thing i-," I started off, but I stopped when I heard the door open.
Don and I both turned our heads and I saw my beautiful girlfriend standing there, absolute fury in her blue eyes.
"Back the fuck off," Jade growled, Don hastily backed off, confusion and a bit of fear evident on his face.
I released a breath I didn't even know I was holding and turned to look at Jade. I was surprised when she looked at me with the same expression of fury in her eyes.
"Are you cheating on me?" Jade asked quietly, my eyes widened and my jaw literally dropped at the suggestion.
"What? Oh my god of course not Jade, why the hell would I do that?" I asked as panic rose within me.
Would she believe me?
Jade nodded in understanding and turned to Don. Before I knew it, Jade had slapped him hard across the face, the sound resounding throughout the diner. Don fell to the ground, grunting as his knee hit the surface hard. He gingerly put his hand to his cheek, wincing as he retracted it. The skin had turned red where Jade's hand had connected with his face.
"Don't you ever touch my girlfriend again, or I won't let you off as easy next time," Jade spat, her voice acidic as Don just looked up at her with fear in his eyes.
"C'mon, let's go Kat," Jade said, I hurried over to Jade, her footsteps brisk as she was already heading out of the diner.
The car ride home was filled with a very tense silence. It felt thick enough to cut with a knife and it was suffocating me. I felt myself breaking down internally. Just the mere thought of me cheating on Jade sickened me. I felt hurt that she actually thought I would do that to her, when we literally just got together not too long ago.
"Jade..." I said softly, I heard her hmm to let me know she was listening.
"You know I would never cheat on you right?" I continued, Jade sighed.
"Of course I know Kat, it's just... the mere thought of him kissing you just angered me so badly... and seeing him that close to you... I couldn't think straight," Jade said softly as she pulled the car into the drive way.
"Clearly not, you could only think gay," I said with a grin as I gave her a finger gun, attempting to crack a joke to lighten the mood.
The only reaction I got out of her was her shaking her head and sighing in exasperation.
"Really not the time for jokes Kat," Jade said bluntly as she opened the car door.
We got out of the car and I hurried over to Jade to kiss her, catching her by surprise. Her arms instinctively wrapped around my waist to pull me closer. I kissed her hard, trying to communicate my apologies.
"That's so you know that you're the only one I want," I said softly, Jade's lips curved up into a smile.
"You're too cute," Jade giggled, I smiled at her as we went inside.
We just spent the next few hours watching television and then eating dinner. Before we knew it, it was 9.
"Damn already?" I yawned, stretching my stiff muscles as I got off the couch.
"You're going to bed already?" Jade whined, I chuckled softly.
"You know I like going to sleep early," I said with a shrug, Jade shook her head.
"You're so weird..." I heard her mutter, I raised an eyebrow.
"Heard that, you still love me though so it's all good," I teased, Jade blushed.
I went upstairs and changed into some comfy pajamas before flopping down on my bed, phone in hand. I was checking all of my social media when my phone buzzed rapidly. I saw that the messages were from the unknown number from the other day, my stomach knotted as I opened the messages.
Unknown Number: Trying to make me jealous eh?
I gasped when I saw the other messages. The unknown number had sent four pictures to me. One was Jade and I cuddling in bed, one was Jade and I holding hands at the Burger King, one was Jade kissing me at the Burger King, and one was me giving Jade a kiss outside of our house...
Which happened just a few hours ago.
I felt my heart drop as I felt a rush of insecurity and fear as I rushed to the window to look outside, my panic sending me into the mindset of them possibly still being there. I don't know why I looked though. It was obviously that they would have left a while ago, I had hoped anyways.
Not to mention that it was pitch black outside, the street lights weakly illuminating the streets. I wouldn't have been able to see them anyways.
I have a stalker... I thought to myself. I heard a creak on the stairs and I quickly put my phone on the nightstand, jumping on the bed as I tried to look casual.
"What's up with you? You look like you've seen a ghost,"
Jade said as she walked in the room, I chuckled weakly.
"Nothing," I lied, I didn't want her to worry about this. "Come cuddle?"
Jade smiled softly as she joined me on the bed, immediately snuggling up against me as I wrapped an arm around her. I still felt my heart racing from the insecurity and fear, I prayed that Jade couldn't hear it.
"Kat..." Jade whispered, I looked at her to let her know I was listening.
"How's your family doing?" Jade asked, I smiled at thought of my little sister.
"My lil' sis Belle, she's doing fine... struggling with high school naturally," I answered, Jade nodded in response. "My mom's busy as always, Mitch is antisocial as usual, and my dad... I don't even know."
"I miss them, it's been a while," Jade noted, I nodded.
"Yeah... hopefully... I Skype Belle whenever I can, sometimes she just needs someone to talk to y'know?" I continued.
"She's lucky to have you as a big sister, and I'm even luckier to have you as my girlfriend," Jade said as she lifted her head to place a kiss on my cheek.
"So you think you're so smooth Adler?" I asked, Jade giggled.
"The very smoothest, you want to feel?" Jade said as she wiggled her eyebrows, I burst out in laughter as I covered my face with my hands to hide my burning cheeks.
"Don't ever do that again, that was repulsive," I groaned as I rolled away from her.
Jade just laughed as she pulled me back to her, rolling my body to face her. I felt her small hands grab my own and pull them away from my face as she placed a tender kiss on my lips.
I sighed contently when she pulled away, resuming back to our cuddling.
"G'night Jadey..." I murmered as I placed a light kiss on her forehead.
"Night..." Jade mumbled, soon after she fell asleep, I could tell from the gentle rise and fall of her chest.
This girl had no trouble falling asleep, and envied that because I, however, stayed awake, staring at the ceiling as my mind wandered. I had a stalker, and I couldn't have been more terrified.
What if they came after me?
What if they came for Jade?
I shut my eyes tightly as I tried to push the thoughts away. I will find out who my stalker is, and I will make sure I keep Jade safe, I silently promised. My eyelids grew heavy and before I knew it, I had drifted off into a restless sleep.
A figure stood underneath the streetlight, the light flickering eerily. It suddenly went out, submerging the figure in utter darkness. Their mouth curled up into a smirk as they watched Katelyn through her bedroom window, watching the rise and fall of her chest intently.
"Sleep tight my love, we'll be together soon enough," they said murmured quietly before disappearing into the night.
