I inhaled deeply as I pulled myself out of my slumber, groaning as I was blinded by the light coming through the window. I tried to roll on my side but stopped myself when I realized someone was already there. I chuckled softly as I looked at Jade's sleeping form, she looked so peaceful and adorable... her head was still in the crook of my neck, her hands loosely holding my arm. A stray lock of her dark hair fell onto her face and I gently moved it away. Jade shifted her body slightly, nuzzling her head closer to my neck. I smiled softly, god I'm in too deep... was the thought that crossed my mind.
I gently removed myself from Jade's grasp, she groaned in displeasure as her hand moved around on the mattress to find something to snuggle up with. Jade found a pillow and immediately cuddled it. I chuckled softly as I stood up, shivering as the cold morning air hit my bare skin. I grabbed a robe and wrapped it tightly around my body as I quietly left the room. I made my way downstairs and decided to make some breakfast. I rummaged through the fridge and cabinets before deciding that I would make toast with a side of bacon and eggs.
Just a handful of minutes later, the sound of bacon sizzling could be heard, filling the house with its delicious smell. I had some slices of toast on two plates with some eggs on the side. I heard a creak on the stairs and turned around to see Jade rubbing sleep from her eyes.
"Morning sleepy head," I said with a smile, Jade smiled back.
"Morning... something smells good..." Jade said, her voice raspy from sleep as her stunning eyes met mine.
"Yeah, decided I'd make breakfast for you to wake up to," I said as I put the finished bacon on our plates, ignoring the fluttering feeling in my stomach, and handed a plate to Jade.
"Thanks Kat," Jade said softly as she took the plate from my hand and sat at the dining table, immediately digging in.
We ate our breakfast in silence, a comfortable one of course. Jade grabbed both of our dishes and washed them.
"Oh thank god I don't have work today," I said sighing as I plopped myself down on the couch in the living room.
"So... you going to do anything today?" I heard Jade ask from the kitchen.
"Nah, just stay at home or something," I replied as I played with a loose strand of hair.
"We should go grab lunch later at a restaurant or something," Jade suggested, I raised an eyebrow as I turned around on the couch to look at her.
"How come?" I asked curiously, we rarely ever went out to eat seeing as we could both cook fairly well, I saw Jade bite her lip.
"I-I dunno, just thought it would be nice, since we really don't get take out that often y'know?" Jade said as she fidgeted under my questioning gaze, I detected the nervousness in her voice.
"Okay... whatever you want Jadey. I'm going to take a shower," I announced, resisting the urge make a face at Jade's odd behavior, Jade nodded as I made my way upstairs.
I chose to wear a pastel pink crop top and ripped jeans once I had finished showering. I brushed my hair and let my natural curls fall loosely over my shoulders. I looked at myself and smiled as I did a little spin, my curls fanning out at the movement. I wasn't even being full of myself when the thought of me looking pretty cute crossed my mind, because I did look pretty cute.
I went downstairs and saw Jade just lazily watching TV on the couch. I jumped over the couch easily and landed on her, a squeak of surprise came out of Jade followed by a grunt of pain.
"Ow! Kattt, Jesus you scared me," Jade whined, I giggled as I adjusted my seating on top of Jade.
"Sorryyy," I said with a grin as I straddled her, the position more comfortable than my previous one.
Jade's face turned bright red and it took me a moment to realize why. I felt my face heat up as I realized that I was straddling my best friend who I was in love with. I felt her hands shyly brush my thighs, my breath hitched in my throat from the tingling sensation I felt where her hands were resting. I looked down to meet her intense blue eyes which were scanning me up and down, her blush growing deeper as they lingered on my cleavage before she quickly looked away, clearly embarrassed that I had noticed her giving me a once over.
I was glad she liked my outfit as much as I did.
As much as I would have loved to stay like that and probably do other things, I knew I couldn't since I wasn't sure she liked me back in that way. I lied down on top of her and she wrapped her arms around me for cuddles, which I happily complied to.
We both settled on the couch and watched random shows before I heard my stomach rumble.
"Someone's hungry," Jade chuckled, I blushed out of embarrassment.
"Maybe... let's go out and eat then?" I suggested, Jade giggled and nodded.
"Let me go take a quick shower first, can't go out in public like this," Jade said, motioning at her pajamas, which was nothing more than a tank top and some sweatpants.
I moved off of Jade so she could leave to the bathroom, crossing my legs as I sat down on the couch. I shifted a bit as I made myself comfortable, continuing to watch the show that had already been airing.
Jade soon came rushing down the stairs wearing a plain white shirt with a black leather jacket covering it and black jeans. God she looks attractive... I thought as I resisted the urge to give her a once over like she had done to me.
I quickly shut the television off before shutting the door behind me and getting into the car with Jade. Not too long after, we were at Burger King and eating our burgers and fries.
"So, um, Kat..." Jade said quietly as she munched on a fry, I noticed that her leg was shaking from what I took was out of nervousness.
"What's up Jade?" I asked as I took a bite out of my burger, Jade bit her lip.
"I, uh, I want to tell you something but... you have to promise that this changes nothing between us..." Jade said softly, I looked at her worriedly.
"Promise Jadey... what's on your mind?" I asked setting my burger down on my tray to give her my full attention.
"I, um, I, uh... I..." Jade stammered nervously.
"Jade tell me what's up," I said softly as I took her hand in mine as an attempt to calm her down.
"Ilikeyou," Jade blurted out, I blinked in surprise.
"Say that again? Slowly?" I asked hesitantly, I wanted to make sure I had heard right, Jade sighed heavily.
"Kit Kat... I like you," Jade said, her voice almost a whisper.
Realization hit me like a small truck. That's why she had been acting off lately, it was because she had started crushing on me...
... Life was this fortunate?
"Jade... I might have to break that promise..." I said softly as I ran my thumb across her hand, Jade's eyes widened in fear.
"Oh god I'm fucking stupid, I shouldn't have said anything.
God forget I said anyth-," Jade started rambling, I lightly grabbed her chin and turned Jade's head to face me, forcing Jade to look at me.
"Jadey, calm down. I'm going to have to break that promise because... because I like you too..." I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Jade's eyes widened even more, which I didn't even realize was possible. The fear disappeared from her striking blue eyes and was replaced with shock and hope. Jade hurriedly got up and pressed a soft kiss against my lips, I felt butterflies errupt in my stomach from the feeling.
"Be my girlfriend?" Jade whispered as she looked at me hopefully once the kiss ended, I smiled at her.
"I'd be honored," I said as I felt my face heat up, no doubt caused by a furious blush spreading over my cheeks.
Jade kissed me again, and I kissed her back. I was with my dream girl at last... and nothing else mattered to me at that moment, I wasn't aware of anything but Jade's lips against mine.
What I should've noticed was the man sitting in the back intently watching us. The black hoodie that was covering his face so no one could tell who he was. The way his eyebrows furrowed when Jade kissed me. The picture he took of us before he quickly left the Burger King, the door creaking as he disappeared.
