"Honey I'm hoooome!" I sang as I opened the door, I could already picture Jade rolling her eyes at me.
"God you're so single," I heard Jade laugh as she came down the stairs, her feet pounding the wooden steps rapidly.
"Hey! You are too!" I said defensively, Jade sighed.
"Unfortunately so, oh well... I've got you at least," Jade said with a smile as she gave me a hug.
"Heck yeah you do! And good thing too, you'd be so lost without me," I said with a grin.
"Uh huh... sure... anyways... how was your day? Any problems at work?" Jade asked curiously.
"Day was alright, work... ehhh, not so much. I swear, is it so hard to leave a little tip?" I complained as I plopped down on the couch.
"Honestly, glad I'm not a freaking waitress, I would just be so mad all the time. Just don't be a bitch, give me a tip will you? It's not going to kill you like jeez," Jade responded in an irritated tone as she also plopped down on the couch and rested her head on my lap.
"My thoughts exactly, it's the best I can do for now though. Until I find a better job, but waitressing pays the bills so it'll do for now..." I said as I mindlessly played with her dark strands of hair, I saw Jade's eyes fill with affection.
"What...?" I asked curiously, taken aback at the affection I saw in her eyes as I looked down at her.
What the hell did I do that made her feel affection towards me?
"What what?" Jade asked in confusion, not understanding what I was addressing.
"Your eyes, I just watched them fill with affection," I said slowly, Jade blushed, but why though...?
"I just love how optimistic and happy you are all the time, I swear nothing can bring you down," Jade said quietly.
"And I love how sweet and adorable you are all the time," I said with a smile.
"And this is why we're best friends," Jade laughed as she sat up to give me a tight hug.
"I'm surprised you want to put up with my lazy ass though," I said, Jade scooted back a bit and just looked at me.
"You put up with mine, it's the least I can do," Jade said seriously, I burst out in laughter, Jade just look bewildered.
"Why are you laughing??" Jade asked, confusion was written across her face.
"Do you know how hard it is to take you seriously? Especially when you make a serious face? It's hilarious, because you're always so goofy and you're hardly ever serious," I said with a smile, Jade rolled her eyes.
"You're an idiot," Jade giggled.
"But you love me," I said winking at her playfully, she blushed again, what was up with her...?
"You wish, I would never love you," Jade said sacastically, I placed a hand over my heart.
"OUCH. I am deeply hurt and offended," I said dramatically, I pouted and I saw Jade's face soften.
"Kat you know I don't mean that..." Jade said softly, I gave her a small smile as I realized she had taken me too seriously.
"Of course I know that, how can you not love me?" I asked, a smirk tugging at the corner of my lips, Jade raised an eyebrow.
"You're so full of yourself!" Jade groaned, a laugh following immediately after, as she punched my arm playfully.
"I know, but you still love me," I teased, Jade scoffed.
"Well I'm going to go to bed. I'm so exhausted..." I mumbled tiredly.
I dragged myself up the stairs and took a quick shower, changing into a tank top and some sweat pants after I had dried myself off. I sighed as I ran a hand through my hair light brown hair. Life as an adult was exhausting. I grabbed my phone and opened up Instagram, mindlessly double tapping on random posts when I got a message. An unknown number huh? I thought as I read the message.
Unknown Number: Good night beautiful ð
Me: Who's this? And how did you get my number?
Unknown Number: That's not relevant right now. Consider me an... admirer.
Me: Okay... do I know you...?
Unknown Number: ... Perhaps.
Me: Okay...
Unknown Number: Good night Katelyn.
I was left dumbfounded. Someone was interested in me? Who? How did they get my number? I have questions... I thought, well I was going to have a hard time sleeping. I was going to stay up all night wondering who this person was.
