Chapter 421 When Kerri and Brayden showed up, they overheard Agnes and Jared talking about getting divorced.
When they heard the word divorce, their faces immediately dropped.
They thought it was just a small quarrel between husband and wife, but they didnât think it would be serious enough to make them divorce. They used to be so sweet together.
When Agnes was filming in S City, Jared even contemplated moving his whole office there.
He got a good ribbing from his buddies for that for a while.
Once they got into the house, Kerri went straight into Agnesâ bedroom.
She directly asked the doubts in her heart, âAgnes, what happened? Things have gotten so bad that you guys are talking about divorce? Thatâs a huge deal for any couple, let alone the Whitfield family. Do you realize what that means?â
Kerri knew all too well about this.
She had tried many ways to divorce Brayden before.
But there was no way for her to divorce Brayden. Instead somehow Brayden, who used to couldnât care less about her, turned into a clingy octopus that she just couldnât shake off.
Agnes finally spoke up and told Kerri all about it. Kerri was shocked to hear that, âThe fact that your mother died, that thereâs a mystery to it, that Alyssa was behind your motherâs death, itâs terrible.â
Agnes continued, âI guess Alyssa didnât know things would be this bad. She was just trying to tarnish my mumâs reputation, but didnât know my mum was battling depression at the time, and she took her own life because of it. In the end, my mumâs death was caused by her intentional sabotage. I canât forgive her.â
Kerri was shocked to hear this. It seemed like something out of a TV show, but the reality was even harsher. Why did it have to be someone from the Whitfield family who caused Agnesâ mumâs death?
And Agnes somehow ended up marrying into the Whitfield family.
After mulling it over, Kerri said earnestly, âBut this was Alyssaâs doing, not Jaredâs. Think about it, at that time, he was a child.
Everyone had their own independence. You canât blame him for what his sister did. Thatâs not fair to him.â
Agnes had a pained expression on her face.
She anxiously ran her fingers through her hair, âI know it has nothing to do with him, but heâs Alyssaâs brother. Even if we donât divorce now, Alyssa wonât let someone who poses a threat to her be her brotherâs wife. Our relationship is beyond repair, Alyssa and I are enemies now. I donât want Jared to be caught in the crossfire.â
Kerri got it, âSo, you want to divorce, but also for his consideration?â
âKerri, I feel so helpless. All this time, Iâve been thinking, if Alyssa really did kill my mum, what should I do? But up till now, the only solution I can think of is divorcing Jared. This happened so many years ago, and all the evidence has been destroyed. The Whitfield family wonât let their daughter take the fall for her âcarelessnessâ. And my mum killed herself due to depression, so legally, I canât punish Alyssa. But I know the truth now. I canât just let this slide. Kerri, what shouldâ
do?â
Kerri saw Agnes all torn up and didnât know how to help.
