Chapter 188 âYâall keep rehearsing. Iâll handle the wardrobe situation.â
With that, Agnes took off.
âAgnes, where are you headed?â Kerri hollered after her.
Agnes beelined for Century Entertainment.
She had already given Ivan a ring previously.
So she faced no hurdles on her way up and went straight to the CEOâs office.
Ivanâs secretary, Faye, recognized Agnes: âThe boss is in a meeting, just chill here for a bit.â
After waiting less than five minutes in the office, Ivan made his return.
âThis is the first time youâve reached out since we wrapped up the TV series,â Ivan said, entering with a gentle expression and steady stride. Agnes stood up immediately: âMr. Bartley, thereâs a favor I need to ask.â
*Jared is my friend, and youâre his wife. Please call me Ivan.â
Agnes hesitated slightly: âIvan.â
âWhat do you need?â
Agnes spilled the beans about her university drama performance.
âYouâve got clout in the industry. I was thinking maybe you could hit up a production crew for some props for us.â
âThatâs a piece of cake. Century Entertainment has its own prop warehouse. Iâll take you there later, pick whatever you need.â
Agnes breathed a sigh of relief and smiled: âThanks, Ivan.â
âBut I do have a question. Your dad couldâve easily sorted this out too. Why did you come to me?â
âMy dadâs been swamped lately. All the stuff with Starlight International Group has been handed off to my stepmom, so...â
In recent years, Preston Pritchard has been dealing solely with investments, leaving all matters of Starlight International Group to Laura.
For Agnes, asking Laura for help was a bigger hassle than turning to Ivan.
Ivan immediately got the picture and didnât probe further.
Ivan changed the subject: âSince I did you a solid, donât you owe me one?â
Agnes was taken aback. What could he possibly need her help with?
âIf itâs within my power, Iâll do my best.â
Ivan glanced at his watch and said, âItâs almost lunchtime. How about treating me to a meal?â
So it was just a meal. Thatâs easy.
âTreating you to a meal is the least I can do. What do you feel like eating?â
âIâm craving carbs today.â
Agnes thought for a moment: âHow about Italian pasta at Cloud View?â
Cloud View is the cityâs swankiest restaurant, known for its famous pasta.
Ivan shook his head: âI donât feel like going anywhere fancy today. Any homey little diners around?â
Agnes pondered for a moment and then her eyes lit up:
âI know just the place. Right outside our university, I go there all the time.â
Ivan and Agnes walked into Burger Barn on the universityâs local food street. âYou mean to say youâve brought Jared here before?â
Agnes looked pretty smug: âYep, Iâve brought him here. He said the burgers are really good.â
The beef burger came out piping hot.
Agnes suggested, âBetter eat it while itâs hot.â
Ivan took a bite, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
âIsnât it amazing?â Agnes asked Ivan chuckled, âOf course, Jaredâs a picky eater. If he says itâs good, then it must be.â
The burger had a homey taste to it, although the beef was of average quality and the excessive seasoning masked the original flavor.
Having grown up with Jared, Ivan knew how picky he could be, especially about food.
This kind of burger definitely wasnât Jaredâs cup of tea.
Jared probably just said it was good to keep Agnes happy.
Agnes grinned from ear to ear. âIf itâs good, have some more.â
Ivan responded with a smile, âSure, you should have some more too.â
