Joe and Charlotte were stunned.
They didnât expect that Max had laid the groundwork for so long just to join
them in the treasure hunt.
Maxâs eyes flickered. Of course, he had other ideas, but he had to get familiar
with them first.
âIâve been researching for a long time, but I still havenât found a way to crack
the treasure mapâ¦â Maxâs face flashed with some discomfort. He did want to
get close to Joe and Charlotte, but it was also true that he couldnât figure out
the treasure map. âI donât want to lose too badly, so Evie and I are willing to
help you find treasures together, as long as you are willing to give us two or
three pieces so that we wonât lose too badly.â
Joe and Charlotte exchanged looks. They were confident in winning anyway,
so it didnât matter if one more family joined them.
More importantly, this was not a serious competition. They participated in the variety show just to play with their children.
âOf course,â Charlotte agreed with a smile, âEvie is a good girl, and she can
play with Ben and Anna.â
Max breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this.
He knew how shameless his request was, and he only asked with a glimmer
of hope. He didnât expect Joe and Charlotte to really agree.
Evie was shy and thoughtful. Although she really wanted to find the treasure,
when she saw Max frowning and unable to figure out the secret of the
treasure map, she comforted him. âDad, itâs okay. I donât like looking for
treasures, either.â
But upon hearing her words, Max felt more and more guilty, so he impulsively went to find Charlotte and Joe.
âEvie!â
Max walked into the room with a smile and picked up Evie.
Evie exclaimed, smiled, and put her arms around Maxâs neck. âDad!â
âEvie, you really want to find the treasure, right?â Max smiled and kissed Evie
on her cheek.
Evie subconsciously wanted to shake her head, but the desire in her eyes
betrayed her.
Max tapped her nose and said, âLetâs go. I will take you to find the treasure!â
âReally?â Evie looked at Max in surprise. Seeing her surprised look, Max felt
sad and proud.
He thought having a considerate daughter really made him so useless.
Max thought as he raised Evie high. âLetâs go and find the treasure!â
Evie held Maxâs head in her hands and chuckled.
The two made a lot of noise and soon attracted other familiesâ attention.
âThey just rode Joe and Charlotteâs coattails?â Dawson watched Max hug
Evie and leave, a flash of disdain in his eyes.
âWeâ¦â Mabel bit her lip and hesitated to speak. Thinking of Miloâs expectant
eyes, she couldnât help but say, âShould we go find Neil? Miloâ¦â
Dawson turned back, stared at Mabel, and said with a smile, âMilo really
wants to find the treasure. We can only work hard ourselves. We canât ask
others for everything, right?â
He tucked Mabelâs hair behind her ear and smiled.
Mabel trembled all over, lowered her head, and agreed.
[Dawson is right. Itâs a competition. Max is too shameless.]
[They couldnât solve the problem themselves. Whatâs wrong with asking for
othersâ help? Joe and Charlotte are okay with that. What do you care?]
[Am I the only one who thinks there is some weirdness between Dawson and
Mabel?]
In another room, Neil and Pedro had given up looking for simple treasures
and instead set their target on those treasures with riddles.
âOkay. We have solved twenty puzzles.â Pedro put down his pen with a smile.
At this time, he heard the sound of Max running with Evie.
