Noah stood by Harperâs side. Although he didnât speak, his solemn expression
said it all.
âWhen we were rescuing Samuel, we never thought about seeking repayment.
Saving that child was merely a stroke of luck; itâs nothing significant,â Charlotte
said with a slight smile as she held Joeâs hand. âBesides, I havenât left emptyhanded from this ordeal.
In fact, I should be grateful to him.â
Without this stroke of luck, she might not have regained her memories so quickly.
Perhaps this was the reward for doing good deeds.
Harper and Noah exchanged glances, thinking that Charlotte was comforting
them. Though they didnât continue the conversation, they had already made a
silent commitment.
If the opportunity arose, they would find a way to repay them.
As they watched the doctor carefully take Samuel away, Charlotte and Joe
exchanged glances before turning and heading toward the cruise ship.
After boarding the ship, Charlotte could clearly sense that everyoneâs gaze towards them had become much warmer.
She looked at Joe with a puzzled expression, and Joe turned to the team leader beside him.
The team leader chuckled, âDonât you know that your selfless act of saving a life
has spread throughout the entire cruise ship? Even the people at the research
station have heard about it.â
Charlotte was stunned.
As she saw the increasingly passionate looks from everyone, she quickly
grabbed Joeâs hand and hurried back to her room.
Ben and Anna saw the two of them returning and immediately rushed over.
Ben accidentally bumped into Charlotteâs wound, and she immediately let out a
muffled groan.
Ben looked at Charlotte in alarm. âMom? Are you hurt?â
His eyes were filled with guilt, and Charlotteâs heart softened as she looked at her
son.
She gently stroked Benâs head. âMommy is fine, just a minor scratch.â
Anna quickly joined them, and with her small hands, she delicately blew on
Charlotteâs hand. âBlow, blow, the pain will fly away, and youâll feel better soon.â
Seeing these two innocent and adorable children, Charlotte couldnât help but feel
grateful that she had coincidentally saved Samuel. Otherwise, his parents would
have been devastated.
âHas Samuel been rescued?â Anna looked up, curious, and gazed at Charlotte.
Charlotte smiled and nodded.
Although Anna wasnât fond of Samuel, she immediately cheered happily.
Regardless, Samuel didnât need to spend the night alone in the wilderness.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, and Charlotteâs smile faded slightly as
she opened the door.
To her surprise, it was the leader.
The leader looked at Charlotte and Joe with concern. âAre you both okay?â
Charlotte and Joe exchanged glances and shook their heads.
âOur injuries are not serious; you donât need to worry,â Charlotte reassured the
leader with a smile.
The leader let out a sigh of relief.
âI came here specifically to discuss the penguin matter with you.â
Penguins? Charlotte suddenly remembered the penguin that Ben and Anna had
rescued.
âJust now, the research station contacted me, and all the nearby penguin colonies have already migrated away. Not a single one remains.â
Penguins are social animals, and the little penguin they rescued wouldnât stand a
chance without the protection of its parents.
Ben and Anna immediately looked nervous. âWhat should we do?â
The leader smiled gently at them. âDonât worry; since youâve already saved this
penguin, we will ensure it doesnât encounter any further harm.â
