Chapter 755 Gleam of Hope
âIf you want to recover more memories, why not stay in the country for a while?â
Joe tentatively asked.
To his surprise, Martha hesitated for a moment and then declined his
suggestion.
âCompared to living in the country, I am more accustomed to life abroad,â
Martha looked apologetically at Joe, âBesides, you being in the country and me
searching abroad might help us find Charlotte more quickly.â
Hearing her say this, Joe had some speculation in his mind.
He nodded and said, âThen Iâll leave it to you.â
Although the child was still somewhat estranged from her, he was clearly willing
to communicate with her. Marthaâs eyes smiled even more genuinely.
She and Hope sat for a while and then left on a pretext.
What they didnât know was that as soon as they left, Sharon quietly followed
them.
At this point, Joe and Sharon were almost certain that Charlotteâs
disappearance was related to Martha and Hopeâs departure.
At this moment, Erik also came over with a notebook.
He looked seriously at Joe, âBased on my search, your mother was with Hope in
the same year as the car accident, and they were together for three years
before getting married officially.â
âTheir marriage has been harmonious for years, except your mother seems to
have some mental issues. Hope has taken her to see a psychologist several
times. In recent years, the frequency of their visits to psychologists has
gradually decreased.â
Despite being mentally prepared, Joe was still very surprised. It turned out that
Martha had known Hope before the car accident, but no one around her knew
about it.
Was the accident related to them?
âAs for why they suddenly approached youâ¦â Erik suddenly turned the
notebook, showing the business conditions of various companies under Hopeâs
name.
Obviously, in recent years, for some reason, his company has been greatly
impacted. Almost every company was losing money. Plus, the dark businesses he was running had a huge financial gap. If he was not careful, he might go bankrupt. So thatâs why they turned their attention to him? Joe raised his eyebrows, âSend all this information to my computer.â
Erik nodded and was about to leave when Joe suddenly stopped him. He hesitantly asked, âHow is Ben doing lately?â Since the wedding was abruptly canceled, Joe had been busy looking for Charlotte and had to leave Ben and Anna with Sir Smith and Old Mr. Clinton.
He was even afraid to face the two children, fearing they would ask about
Charlotteâs whereabouts, to which he had no answer.
Erik smiled and said, âRest assured, both children are resilient. Perhaps theyâve
sensed something, as they havenât asked about Miss Clintonâs whereabouts
recently. Theyâve been conducting private investigations.â
Ben was a smart child. He wanted to help find Charlotte, and Erik did not stop
him.
Joe nodded and said to Erik, âThank you.â
Sharon had been following Martha and Hope for five days but had found no
clues on them. The couple were just like ordinary people, going out early and
returning late, shopping and eating, nothing unusual.
Just as he was about to give up, Martha and Hope hurried to the black market auction.
Without any warning, Charlotte suddenly appeared at the auction that day.
From a distance, Sharon saw the noticeably thinner profile of Charlotte. He took
a deep breath of relief and immediately took out his phone to call Joe, âIâve got
Charlotte.â
