Chapter 585 The Reputedly Efficacious Temple
At Charlotteâs request, Joe naturally agreed.
Although this piece of land was developed by Joe, he had never been to the nearby mountains. For safety reasons, Joe
even consulted the general manager of the hot spring club, who informed them that there was a reputedly efficacious
temple on the nearby mountain, and apart from that, there was no apparent danger.
âA temple?â Charlotteâs eyes flashed with curiosity.
However, she was not a devout Buddhist, so she didnât plan to go there specifically to make offerings.
As they reached the foot of the mountain, Charlotte looked at the lush green hills, a hint of amusement in her eyes. âIt
feels like itâs been a very long time since I went hiking like this.â
Joe remained silent. As if struck by a sudden realization, Charlotte suddenly turned to him in disbelief.
âYouâve never hiked
before, have you?â
âAccording to the managerâs description, the temple should be near the mountaintop,â Joe said, shifting his gaze away and looking into the distance.
Charlotte couldnât help but laugh. âYour skill at changing the subject is quite remarkable.â
Joe looked at Charlotte against the light, and the golden sunlight seemed to give her a golden halo, making her appear
somewhat sanctified.
He stepped closer and held Charlotteâs hand. âWhen I was in school, I usually went skiing and surfing, rarely climbing
mountains like this.â
Charlotte smiled, undeterred. âWell, you missed out on a lot of fun.â
Joe pulled her closer and planted a kiss on her lips. âThatâs why I want you to show me these pleasures now.â
Enter titleâ¦
His eyes were deep, as if the whole world could only contain Charlotte.
Suddenly, Charlotte hooked her arm around his neck and kissed him on the lips. âWell, youâll have to pay the tour guide
fee for that.â
Joeâs eyes darkened, and he grabbed Charlotte, who was about to escape and kissed her deeply.
Charlotte didnât dare to tease this man for the rest of the journey anymore. She obediently let him lead the way as they
climbed to the mountaintop.
âIt seems weâre not destined for that temple,â Charlotte glanced around, but there was no sign of the temple.
Perhaps itâs true that the best things are the ones you canât have. Charlotte, who hadnât thought much about the temple
before, couldnât help but feel a bit regretful at this moment.
Joe squeezed her hand. âShould we go look for it together?â
After hesitating for a moment, Charlotte shook her head. âForget it. I wasnât that serious about it in the first place. It was
just a whim.â
As they were talking, the clear sky suddenly turned into torrential rain.
Joe reacted quickly, taking off his coat and covering Charlotteâs head, then he held her and ran down the mountain.
The pouring rain obscured their vision, and with the darkening sky, the two of them soon lost their way in the mountains,
eventually plunging into the woods.
âThereâs a building up ahead!â
Through the curtain of rain, Charlotte spotted a structure with green tiles and red walls not far away and quickly called out
to Joe.
They hurriedly ran toward it.
The gate of the small courtyard wasnât tightly closed. Charlotte had barely touched it when it was pushed open. She
glanced at Joe, who nodded, and then she opened the door and rushed inside.
Rather than barging in, the two stood under the eaves and observed the courtyardâs layout.
The first thing that caught their eyes was a simple and clean courtyard. In front of them stood a solemn and unadorned
main hall, with a faint scent of incense lingering in the air.
Charlotte was somewhat surprised. Could this be the legendary temple they were looking for?
