Chapter 559 I Will Only Act If Itâs Your Wish or What You Want
Never before had there been a moment when Joe felt his willpower tested to such an extreme. He knew that Charlotteâs
condition was off and loathed himself for being acutely aware of it.
Without hesitation, Joe plundered the air between Charlotteâs lips and teeth, only releasing her reluctantly when she
frowned uncomfortably.
Perhaps momentarily satisfied, the current Charlotte obediently leaned against Joeâs shoulder and gently nuzzled against
it.
Joe lowered his gaze, looking at his unrestrained impulses, and with a bitter smile, he dialed Vincentâs phone number.
Vincent seemed to have anticipated the situation long before as he answered the call leisurely, âDo you need something?â
Joe rubbed the space between his eyebrows. âI think youâre not interested in continuing to run your clinic.â
Vincent exclaimed in a playful tone, âYou said your girlfriend was in trouble, and I rushed over in a hurry to save her. In the end, why do I still get complaints? Truly, a manâs heart is as fickle as the sea.â
âIâll contact the lawyer right away,â Joe sneered.
Vincent quickly called out to him, âYou really donât know how to appreciate favors! I helped you, and youâre repaying me
like this? Isnât it just that sheâs unusually âeagerâ for you right now?â
Joe narrowed his eyes, âSo you really did something to her.â
âIâm innocent!â Vincent denied quickly, âIâm a legitimate doctor. How could I do something like that?â
Joe clicked his tongue, and Vincent realized he couldnât drag it out any longer. He had to explain, âYou should know what
that special drug was originally used for, right? Besides making people addicted, it also has intense side effects, like a
certain impulse being particularly obviousâ¦â

Joe suddenly tensed up all over.
He could no longer make out what Vincent was saying by his ear; his astonished gaze was fixed on Charlotteâs face.
Perhaps feeling neglected as Joe talked on the phone, Charlotte pouted and glared at him, then with a growl, she bit onto
Joeâs Adamâs apple.
The warm sensation against his cold skin left Joe stiffened, his fingers hovering on Charlotteâs shoulder, attempting to
push her away. Yet, at this moment, Charlotte seemed utterly insatiable as she licked his Adamâs apple sensually.
Joeâs tightly strung nerves finally snapped with a resounding snap.
He abruptly hung up the call, flinging his phone aside. The phone rolled twice on the ground, its screen shattering
instantly.
Joe didnât spare even a glance at the phone. His gaze remained locked onto Charlotte, his voice now hoarse with
exasperation, âCharlotte, do you even realize what youâre doing?â
He had assumed that Charlotte wouldnât respond, so he was taken aback when she suddenly opened her eyes, her gaze
brimming with boundless, watery intention. âOf course, I know. Joe, will you endure it?â
Joe lowered his gaze to meet hers, and only Charlotteâs figure was reflected in his deep, dark pupils.
He spoke earnestly, âCharlotte, the choice has always been in your hands between us. I am no longer the fool who hurt
his loved one in a moment of impulsiveness. I will only act if itâs your wish or what you want.â
Joeâs expression was so serious that it seemed to momentarily clear the hazy thoughts in Charlotteâs mind. She carefully
scrutinized the man before her.
Five years had passed, and Joeâs demeanor had drastically changed.
He used to be like a sharp dagger, always piercing the enemyâs heart quickly and accurately. Now, he resembled more a
sheathed sword, with its edge concealed, composed, and stable, delivering a lethal strike.
Perhaps the time they had spent together in the past was filled more with reluctance, sorrow, and hearts as lifeless as
ashes.
