âReally?â Lenaâs gaze fell on Gideonâs drafting table, and she suddenly burst
into laughter. âIt seems like we can fulfill our agreement ahead of time.â
They had agreed on three days, but both of them had finished their drafts
within a day, indeed making it possible to discuss things ahead of schedule.
Lena straightforwardly walked up to Gideonâs desk and spread out her drawings for him to see. âHereâs my idea. Take a look.â
After speaking, she took Gideonâs drawings from his desk and started to
examine them closely. A flash of surprise crossed Gideonâs eyes. He hadnât
expected Lena to be so straightforward.
Actually, after their previous arguments, they had gained some understanding
of each otherâs thoughts, but they couldnât fully grasp what the other was thinking. There were bound to be some criticisms.
However, complete thoughts were laid out in front of them, they realized that
their previous concerns were superfluous.
âI think your idea is great,â Lena complimented after looking at Gideonâs design.
Perhaps it was because Lena had rejected him so many times before, but
hearing her praise now, Gideon felt an unexpected surge of happiness.
He hadnât felt this way since the first time he won the architecture award.
âYour design is also perfect, better than I imagined,â Gideon sincerely
complimented in return.
The two fell silent for a moment, recalling their previous disputes, and couldnât
help but exchange smiles.
Unbeknownst to them, a pair of eyes filled with hostility watched this scene
from outside the window.
âGideonâ¦â Willington clenched his fists tightly, as if he wanted to kill Gideon with his gaze.
Just then, Gideon looked out the window.
âWhatâs wrong?â Lena asked, puzzled. Gideon shook his head thoughtfully.
âItâs nothing, just my imagination. I felt like someone was watching us from
outside.â
Lena looked in the direction he was pointing, but there was no one outside.
She fell silent for a moment before asking, âDid you stay up late working on
the drawings?â
Understanding her implication, Gideon couldnât help but laugh. âYou think Iâm
hallucinating?â
âItâs not suspicion, but certainty.â Lena nodded confidently. âI was standing
right beside you just now and saw nothing.â
Her certainty made Gideon ponder for a moment. âMaybe I really did see it
wrong.â
âHow about we each take the otherâs draft back to study and discuss it
tomorrow?â Lena suggested.
Gideon agreed, and they left the drafting room together.
Standing at the door, Gideon confirmed once again. âAre you sure you donât
need me to take you back?â
Lena shook her head. âThereâs no need. What could be unsafe at the
school?â
Seeing her insistence, Gideon didnât press further. He nodded slightly at Lena
and then turned to leave.
It was already evening and the weekend, so there were not many pedestrians
on the road. Gideonâs mind was still on Lenaâs design when he suddenly
sensed something was amiss.
He stopped and looked back.
There were small groups of pedestrians on the road behind him, nothing
unusual.
But he had just clearly felt a strong sense of being watchedâ¦
