The distant murmur of voices filtered through the walls, rousing Taehyung from his peaceful slumber. He groaned, burying his face deeper into the pillow, trying to ignore the noise. His room was still dim, the golden sunlight barely seeping through the curtains.
Who the hell is being so loud this early?
With a sleepy frown, Taehyung groped for his phone, squinting at the screen.
8:03 AM.
His frown deepened. At this time, his house was usually dead silent. Seokjin was either out with his friends or sleeping in, and their parentsâwho worked night shiftsâwere always fast asleep at this hour.
But now, the noise only grew louder.
Taehyung pushed himself up with a sigh, his bear pajama shirt slightly rumpled from sleep, the soft fabric slipping off one shoulder. His shorts barely covered his thighs, his legs still tangled in the blanket. His hair was an absolute mess, sticking up in odd angles, but he didn't care.
He dragged himself toward the door, rubbing his eyes as he padded barefoot down the hall.
And thenâ
He stopped dead in his tracks at the sight before him.
In the living room, Jungkook and Seokjin stood face-to-face, mid-argument.
Jungkook, dressed in a loose black hoodie and sweats, looked just as stubborn as ever, his arms crossed tightly over his chest. His expression was sharp, borderline annoyed, but Taehyung could tell he was holding himself back from something worse.
Seokjin, on the other hand, was standing with his hands on his hips, eyebrows furrowed in frustration, looking very much like the scolding big brother he was.
Taehyung, still half-asleep, could only blink at them.
"What the hell is going on?" he mumbled, his voice raspy from sleep.
At the sound of Taehyung's voice, both Jungkook and Seokjin immediately turned their heads, their argument momentarily forgotten.
Jungkook's eyes landed on him first.
And stayed there.
Taehyung, still drowsy, blinked at them, only now realizing the full weight of Jungkook's burning stare. His boyfriendâhis actual, real-life, newly-official boyfriendâwas blatantly staring at him.
Not just staring. Raking his eyes over him.
From the soft, oversized bear pajama top that hung slightly off his shoulder, to his bare legs, the hem of his sleep shorts dangerously highâJungkook's gaze lingered.
Taehyung froze, the sleepiness in his system evaporating instantly.
Oh. Oh no.
His ears turned red, heat crawling up his neck, his toes curling against the cold floor as he shifted awkwardly.
Jungkook, for his part, didn't even seem to realize what he was doing. His lips parted slightly, his stance no longer tense from the argument but rather... distracted.
And thenâ
"Ahem."
Seokjin loudly cleared his throat, snapping his fingers dramatically between them.
Jungkook finally blinked, his gaze snapping back to Seokjin, who was now watching him with an expression so smug it could make the devil jealous.
"Oh, wow," Seokjin drawled, crossing his arms, his lips curling in amusement. "So that's how it is, huh?"
Taehyung, still standing awkwardly in his bear pajamas, stiffened immediately.
"W-what?" he stammered, his voice a pitch higher than usual.
Seokjin, ignoring him completely, turned to Jungkook with a knowing smirk.
"So, are you gonna keep ogling my baby brother," he gestured lazily at Taehyung, "or are you gonna admit that I was right?"
Jungkook, still slightly dazed, took a second to process Seokjin's words.
Thenâhis ears tinted pink.
"Iâwhat?" Jungkook scowled, visibly forcing himself to snap out of it. "I wasn't oglingâ"
"You were definitely ogling," Seokjin cut in, grinning.
"I wasn'tâ"
"Uh-huh."
"I wasâ"
"Sure."
Jungkook gritted his teeth, throwing a sharp glare at Seokjin. "You're so annoying."
"Thank you," Seokjin beamed, patting his own chest like he just won an award.
Meanwhile, Taehyung was practically melting into the floor, his entire face burning.
"You both are so loud in the morning," he grumbled, rubbing his temple.
Jungkook's eyes flickered back to him, his earlier distraction creeping in again, but before he could say anything, Seokjin clapped his hands together.
"ANYWAY," he said loudly, redirecting the conversation with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You were just saying how I was right, Jungkook."
Jungkook groaned loudly, running a hand down his face. "That is NOT what I was saying."
Seokjin grinned wider. "Sounds like something someone wrong would say."
And with that, Taehyung knew one thing for sureâhe was never waking up this early again.
Jungkook, still exasperated from Seokjin's endless teasing, exhaled heavily and crossed his arms, looking Seokjin dead in the eyes.
"Hyung." His voice was firm, no hesitation whatsoever.
Seokjin, still smirking, raised an eyebrow. "Yes, dear Jungkookie?"
Jungkook's expression didn't waver.
"Go back to sleep. Or go out. Or do whatever you want. Just..."âhe gestured vaguely in the airâ"leave. So I can spend time with my boyfriend."
The room went silent.
Taehyung's brain short-circuited.
Did he justâ
Boyfriend?!
Jungkook had said it so bluntly, so naturally, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Seokjin's eyebrows shot up, clearly not expecting that level of boldness.
"Excuse me?" Seokjin blinked, clearly speechless for the first time in his life.
Meanwhile, Taehyung made the mistake of looking at Jungkook.
And that was the final straw.
The moment he caught Jungkook's casual, confident smirk, Taehyung whirled around and bolted.
"Y-you guys can talk, I-I'm going back to bed!" he stammered hurriedly before rushing back to his room, practically tripping over his own feet.
Jungkook simply watched him leave, a soft chuckle escaping his lips.
Seokjin, however, was still recovering.
"Wow," he finally snorted, shaking his head. "You're really something, huh, Jeon?"
Jungkook smirked, unfazed. "Took you this long to figure that out?"
Seokjin rolled his eyes, stretching his arms lazily. "Fine, fine. I'll leave you lovebirds alone." He turned on his heel, but not before throwing out one last sarcastic remarkâ
"Try not to make my baby brother combust, okay?"
Jungkook just grinned. "No promises."
____________
Back in his room, Taehyung flopped onto his bed, face buried in his pillow.
Boyfriend.
Jungkook had called him that. In front of Seokjin. So casually.
His heart was still racing.
Before he could recover, he felt the mattress dip behind him.
"Morning, Muffin."
Taehyung squeaked as Jungkook's arms wrapped around his waist from behind, pulling him flush against his chest.
"Jungkook?!" he sputtered, trying to turn around, but Jungkook only tightened his hold.
"You ran away before I could say good morning properly," Jungkook murmured, his voice husky and warm against Taehyung's ear.
Taehyung whimpered.
"Youâyou didn't have toâ"
Jungkook rested his chin on Taehyung's shoulder, his lips barely grazing his skin. "But I wanted to."
Taehyung's brain was barely functioning as he felt the warmth of Jungkook's arms wrapped around him, his heart drumming like crazy. He had barely recovered from the back hug, and now Jungkook was just casually cuddling him like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Jungkook hummed, his lips brushing against Taehyung's shoulder as he spoke.
"Let's go on a date today."
Taehyung froze.
"...A date?" he echoed dumbly, finally turning his head slightly to look at Jungkook, who was already gazing at him with fond amusement.
Jungkook nodded, his fingers absentmindedly tracing small patterns on Taehyung's waist. "Yeah. Like, an actual, real date. You and me. Just us."
Taehyung felt his face heat up instantly.
"Iâ" he started, but Jungkook's gaze softened even more, as if silently pleading with him.
"Say yes, Muffin." His voice was low, coaxing, teasing.
Taehyung didn't even hesitate.
"Okay," he blurted out, a little too quickly.
Jungkook chuckled at how eager he sounded, but it only made Taehyung more flustered.
"Good," Jungkook murmured, shifting slightly until he was leaning over Taehyung, one arm propped up on the bed, keeping him caged. His other hand cupped Taehyung's cheek, thumb brushing gently over his soft skin.
Taehyung gulped.
Jungkook's gaze flickered down to his lips for a brief second before meeting his eyes again.
"Then go get dressed," he whispered.
And before Taehyung could even reactâ
Jungkook leaned in, pressing a soft kiss on his forehead.
Then another on his cheek.
Then, with a small, mischievous smile, he finally brushed his lips against Taehyung'sâ
gentle at first, then firmer, sweeter.
Taehyung melted immediately.
By the time Jungkook pulled away, his heart was a complete mess.
"Get ready, Muffin," Jungkook murmured against his lips. "I'm taking you to breakfast."
_________
The moment Jungkook left the room, Taehyung flopped back onto his bed, burying his burning face into his pillow.
His heart was still racing, his lips still tingling from the gentle but devastatingly sweet kiss Jungkook had left on them.
"What just happened?" he mumbled into the pillow, his voice muffled.
This was not fair. How was Jungkook so effortlessly good at making him feel like this? It was dangerous.
He groaned, rolling onto his back and staring at the ceiling in pure frustration.
Jungkook was really his boyfriend now. They were going on a date. And instead of acting normal about it, he was losing his mind.
After a solid minute of flailing, he forced himself up, deciding he needed to fix this emotional mess before Jungkook came back.
He dragged himself to the bathroom, rubbing his face as he finally looked at his reflection.
And immediately regretted it.
His hair was a complete mess, his cheeks were flushed, and his lips were a little swollen from all of Jungkook's affectionate attacks.
And worst of allâ
He was still in his ridiculous bear pajamas.
Taehyung groaned loudly, covering his face.
"Oh my god. I stood in front of my boyfriend looking like this?"
Taking a deep breath, he tried to reassure himself.
"It's okay. It's fine. He already likes me. He's literally taking me on a date. This is not a big deal."
After repeating that to himself about ten times, he finally got into the shower, letting the warm water calm him down.
By the time he was out, he felt a little betterâuntil he realized he had to pick an outfit.
That's when the chaos truly began.
Within minutes, his entire room was a warzone.
Shirts were scattered all over his bed.
Pants were thrown onto the chair.
Sweaters and jackets were piled on the floor.
Every time he picked an outfit, he would change his mind immediately.
Too formal.
Too casual.
Too boring.
Too bold.
At one point, he even tried an all-black ensemble but decided he looked too dramatic, as if he were going to a fashion show instead of breakfast.
Finallyâafter what felt like an eternityâhe settled on a simple but effortlessly stylish outfit.
A white button-up shirt, tucked neatly into a pair of brown formal pants, paired with a soft brown woolen cardigan.
Simple, clean, and just the right amount of cute.
Looking at himself in the mirror, he nodded in satisfaction.
"Perfect."
Now, all that was left to do... was survive the actual date.
_________
Jungkook had been sitting on the couch for what felt like forever, his phone in hand, but his attention was far from the screen. His eyes kept drifting toward the door of Taehyung's room, glancing at it for the nth time.
Each time, he caught himself, trying to focus on the phone, but his mind was entirely consumed by Taehyung.
He had never been this excited about a simple breakfast before, but then again, it wasn't just about the meal. It was about being with Taehyung. The boy who, just a few days ago, had been a constant whirlwind of emotions in his life, and now, he was his boyfriendâhis boyfriend.
He leaned back on the couch, his gaze drifting back to the door once more. He couldn't help but feel his heart race every time he thought about how perfect the morning felt.
Taehyung was out there somewhere, getting ready, and Jungkook couldn't wait to see him.
Then, finally, the door creaked open. Taehyung stepped into the living room, looking every bit like an angel wrapped in a soft brown cardigan. His hair was still a little damp from the shower, but it only made him look more effortless, like he hadn't even tried but still managed to look flawless.
Jungkook's breath caught in his throat as he watched him, his eyes glued to the figure now standing in front of him.
"Wow," Jungkook murmured, unable to stop himself, as his eyes roamed over every inch of Taehyung. "You look... incredible."
Taehyung's face turned a deep shade of pink under Jungkook's gaze, and he fidgeted with the hem of his cardigan, suddenly feeling shy. "You're just saying that," he mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper.
"No," Jungkook said quickly, standing up and taking a few steps toward him. "I mean it." His eyes softened as he stepped closer. "You look perfect, Tae."
Taehyung's heart fluttered in his chest, and he smiled shyly. "Thank you."
Jungkook reached out, placing his hand gently on Taehyung's shoulder, his fingers brushing against the soft fabric of his cardigan. "Let's go, then," he said, his voice filled with excitement and affection.
He led the way, Taehyung's hand slipping into his as they walked out the door together. As they stepped outside, Jungkook couldn't help but glance over at Taehyung one last time. The boy walking beside himâhis boyfriendâwas the one person he had always wanted.
And now, he was with him.
Everything felt so right.
