It was tough at first. Rodas acted tough in front of me but I knew he had been anxious about the baby. He was probably worried that he wouldn't be able to take care of it and that he would put it in danger. But despite that, he made sure I didn't lack anything. He started coming home early and started spending more time with me. He would kiss my stomach whenever he went out of the home. He always went together with me to the doctor and didn't miss a single appointment. He even took a photo of me near the fountain in the garden and framed it.It was all worth it. We even made the spare room just beside Rodas's room, the baby nursery. I would spend most of my time there, decorating the room. Jeremy would join me whenever he was free. "I can't wait!!" He would always squeal with happiness.I insisted on painting the room myself and Rodas would bring new stuff whenever he came home. I wanted the room to be cute and perfect for my baby. Who thought I would end up losing it and worst of all... Forget about it?That day we fought. The situation wasn't good, there was conflict going on with the rebel group and Rodas needed to stay out of the home for a few days. I was worried and I didn't want him to go."Can you not go?" I asked, grabbing his hands. "Sunshine, I have to go today. The matter won't get resolved if I don't go there. I promise I would return as soon as I'm done."I was still anxious."Can't you send someone over... Maybe Rei or Z-""Why don't you try to understand when I tell you nicely?" Rodas raised his voice for the first time at me that day. It scared me and I backed away from him. Rodas realised it immediately and tried to hold my hand again but I didn't let him."Don't be stubborn, come back here!" He said, grabbing my hand."I'm sorry!" Then comes his soft voice almost immediately. "Then let me come with you!" I pleaded. "But I want you to stay here and not go anywhere. It's dangerous out there... At least don't make me mad this time..""Go... I don't have anything to say anymore" I said snatching my hand away from him and placing it on my belly. I walked to Aurelia's tank and tapped on the glass with my fingers, gaining her attention."Come here, Elora!" I heard Rodas from behind but I didn't answer."Fine!" He said with an irritated voice. I heard the sound of the door opening and tears eventually trickled down my cheeks. I turned around but he slammed the door shut behind him. I didn't know if it was because of my pregnancy hormones or something else but I felt extremely mad knowing Rodas was gonna leave anyway even if I told him not to. I usually understand but that day I just couldn't.I stormed out of the room and shouted at him, "You don't get to do that!!"Rodos stopped on his track."You don't get to do whatever you want with me!!" "C'mon Elora... I'm not doing whatever I want with you and you know that. I'll be back in a few days. Just stay here. Jeremy will be with you!" Rodas turned back and said with a frustrated voice. "You're always like this... Am I not even allowed to be worried about you?" I cried out. His gaze landed on my belly.My embarrassing sobs filled the hallway. Rodas walked up to me and then held the back of my head before pulling me into his embrace. Whenever he does this, I find myself isolated from all the problems. It was a safe space for me. "Let's do this... I'll come back tonight ok? Will that be ok Sunshine?" He softly said to me.I nodded subtly, defeated by his warmth."Hm?" He asked again to confirm while raising my chin to look at him."Yeah!" I replied."Love you, honey," he kissed me on the lips."Love you too," He smooched my cheeks and gently rubbed my belly before walking away hastily. I stand alone in the hallway for a while, wondering what I should do to keep myself away from being too worried about Rodas. The day was just starting. I strolled to the living room, Jeremy wasn't there playing video games. He wasn't in his room either. So, I went to the nursery.Pavel, one of the bodyguards assigned by Rodas for my emergency need was standing outside my room's door. "Pavel! I'll be at the nursery. You can go and do whatever you want," I told him."I'm good, Mam," he told me politely."I want to be alone for now," "I'll be outside mam," "Do you not understand my words?" I said in a stern voice.Pavel nodded hesitantly before walking away. I started working around inside the nursery. There wasn't much to do but I kept myself busy with small things. Around 3 pm, my phone rang. I was hesitant to pick it up because it was an unknown number but it rang more than two times. So, I received it on the fifth ring. "H-Helloo...!!"  Came a trembling male voice."Hello?" "H-Helloo... Elora m-mam. I work under Rodas."My heart instantly started pounding rapidly with fear hearing the shaky voice of the man. "Y-Yes... What happened?"  I asked. "Rodas... He-" "WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM?" I stood up immediately, my hand protectively over my stomach. "He got into an accident," It felt like someone stabbed me right in the heart. I froze on my spot, cold sweat started trickling down my temple. "Hello... Hello... Mam?"But I quickly gathered my composure and walked out of the nursery."Y-Yes... Where is he right now?" "I will send you the location!" "Yes, please!" My whole body was shaking as I went to my room and grabbed my purse. Pavel was nowhere to be seen and there wasn't anyone outside at that moment. So, I walked myself to the road and called a taxi. My brain wasn't functioning properly, I didn't have the strength to think what was the better thing to do. I just had one thing on my mind and that was to reach the location sent by Rodas's man and be there for him.But then it happened. A big truck came from somewhere and slammed against the taxi where I was in.The next thing I remember was seeing a pool of my own blood and the unbearable pain in my head and stomach before everything turned pitch black.
