After Hailey's prank the other night, I've been trying to come up with a joke that would be epic, but so far, I couldn't think of any.
I must admit that was a good prank she pulled and scared me momentarily.
The ideas I thought of were stuff I'd done already, and even from a legit prank site, I couldn't find anything.
While I was lying on the couch and watching some TV, I heard my mom arguing with my dad.
This was one of many fights between the two, and I wished she appreciated him more and was less bitchy.
He loved her dearly, but sometimes, I felt like she took him for granted just because he wasn't rich.
And I even resented him for being a high school janitor.
It was unfortunate how materialistic she was.
I believed that money didn't buy happiness.
Even with all the riches in the world, it couldn't always bring fulfillment.
Sometimes, two people who loved each other were enough to get them by, but my mom was quite the opposite.
"I need some money for shopping," My mom placed her hands on her hips.
"Here, have this for now," My dad handed her some money.
"What the fuck is this?" My mom looked at my dad with disgust when she was holding up crinkled money. She was having one of her many tantrums.
"It's twenty dollars, and that's all I have for now since I'm getting paid tomorrow," My dad sighed.
He looked more stressed than usual since he worked overtime for the past few months.
"I can't buy shit with this." She threw the money in his face. "For fúck sake, why can't you be richer like my friend's husband than a stupid janitor? But no, I'm stuck here in poverty..."
"Look dear, I'm doing the best I canâ"
"Well, your best isn't good enough..." She rolled her eyes at him and walked away.
Not having anything else to say, my dad sighed and placed his hands in his pocket.
I felt terrible for him since he, indeed, was a good person who deserved to have the best in life.
It sucked that my mom was unappreciative of the littlest of things.
"Hey, Dad..." I called out softly.
"What?" He looked up at me.
"Can I have the twenty dollars?" I smiled a toothy grin.
"What do you need it for?" He raised a brow.
"I just wanted to buy some stuff," I shrugged.
"Fine, but spend it wisely," He handed me the money.
"Thank you," I replied, and he gave me a small smile, nodding his head. He then checked the time on his watch.
"I should get going since my bus comes any moment," He said, walking towards the door.
"Alright, I'll see you later," I told him as I placed the money in my pocket. After we said our goodbyes, I closed the front door and headed towards my room.
Once there, I checked myself out in the mirror and realized I was good to go. As I exited my room, I almost bumped into my mom.
"Sorry," I muttered under my breath.
"Watch where you're going next time," She sucked her teeth.
"Yeah, it was a mistake..."
"Are you raising your voice at me?"
"No, I'm not..." I replied, not wanting to argue with her.
There were many things I wanted to tell her right now but decided not to.
I wasn't sure what was wrong with my mom, but whatever it was, my dad and I weren't the cause.
Neither was she royalty since she walked around like she was majorly important.
I missed the days when she was more down to earth and not a snobby bitch.
Shortly after, I was outside and sighed when I finally felt fresh air.
I pulled out my phone to check the time and saw it was 5:15p.m.
It was a warm and pleasant day. White, fluffy clouds drifted across the clear, blue sky.
While I was walking down the street, I saw the kids playing in the streets and the adults who sat on the porch watching who came and went.
I greeted some people but got stopped in my tracks when a guy walked in front of me.
"Excuse me," I tried to walk around him, but he blocked my path again.
"Damn girl, you fine. Can I get your number?" He smiled, and the light from his grill almost blinded me.
He wore baggy clothes and licked his crusty lips, thinking I was already interested.
"Ugh, no..." I stopped him in his tracks when he tried to get closer.
"Fine...you weren't cute anyway!" He shouted at me as I walked around him.
"Whatever," I flipped him off, not wanting a fuck boy like him to ruin my mood even more.
Looking ahead, I saw that I was a few blocks away from the corner store.
I hoped I didn't run into anyone I didn't want to see.
