In the Conrad Group...
Vincent James pushed open the door of the office and said while walking into the office, âNathan told me that youâre looking for me for some matters.â
Sitting in front of the office desk, Clarence said without even looking up, âWait for a minute.â
Vincent sat down on the sofa in repose with his eyes closed.
Both Clarence and Vincent hadnât had a good rest over the past few days.
Ten minutes later, Clarence walked towards him and sat down, âI remember that youâre from Riverside City.â
Vincent slowly opened his eyes when he heard the words, âYes. Whatâs the matter?â
Clarence asked, âHow much do you know about the James family?â
Vincent was stunned as he didnât expect him to ask this question. He then replied, âWhy do you suddenly...â
âThis matter probably has something to do with that family in Riverside City.â
âDo you mean the matter that the baby was taken back to the Conrad family?â Vincent knitted his brows, âI think it doesnât make sense. Whatâs the reason for the James family to do this?â
Clarence said faintly, âNo matter whether this matter was planned by them or not, based on the current situation, itâs safe to say that the James family must have something to do with it.â
Vincent asked after a short while of silence, âWhat do you want to know?â
âEverything you know.â
Vincent said slowly, âThe James family has lived in Riverside City for generations. Along with the familyâs development and expansion, some of its descendants engaged in commerce, some of them engaged in police and some became soldiers. The family gradually became the biggest family in Riverside and became incomparable both in wealth and power.â
âHowever, the James family has an unwritten rule: the descendants of the family are not allowed to leave Riverside lifetime. If one chooses to leave the city, it will be regarded as cutting the ties with the James family and that person is not allowed to step into Riverside again. The James family will not care about it no matter that person will live happily or die miserably.â
âBut the family was so big that it gradually developed many branches along with its history and the kinship was therefore weakened. As they didnât take the rule seriously, that unwritten rule was gradually forgotten. However, I heard that the lineal descendants of the James family are still abiding by that rule.â Vincent added.
Clarence just looked at him silently.
Vincent was bewildered.
He explained, âDonât think too much. Iâm not a member of the James family. My parents went to City N and settled here many years ago and I donât have any relatives or friends in Riverside. Itâs meaningless for me to come back to the city.â
Clarence slowly tapped his knees with his fingers, âGo on.â
âWhere were we just now? Oh...Bancroft James, the patriarch of the James family, had passed away. The one taking charge of the family now is Darnell James, Bancroftâs grandson. I havenât seen him, but there have been many rumors about Darnell over the years. Anyway... Donât provoke him if itâs unnecessary.â
Clarence asked, âIs that all?â
Vincent threw up his hand, âThatâs all.â
At the next moment, he continued, âTo be honest, although I havenât seen Darnell before, Iâm sure that this matter must have nothing to do with the James family. Riverside is far away from City N and Darnell wonât provoke you and seek troubles for himself.â
Right at this moment, Maxwell walked into the office. âMr. Conrad, he confessed everything. Ms. Anderson and Little Noah are in the backyard of the Conradsâ Mansion.â

In the hospital...
Although Sherry was very scared, she had made up her mind.
Sitting on a chair with her eyes closed, she grabbed Stellaâs hand tightly.
The TV next to them was playing the report of a piece of news.
âEarly in this morning, someone found a womanâs dead body under the bridge. According to the investigation, the victimâs surname is Byron and she died at 15:19 yesterday. This case is still under investigation and we will report the follow-up later. Now letâs come to the next news...â
After a short while, a nurse called Sherryâs name, âSherry Perry.â
Sherry subconsciously stood up.
The nurse said, âFollow me, please. I will lead you to have the examination.â
Sherry took a deep breath and then stepped forward.
Stella grabbed her hand, âSherry...â
Sherry smiled and comforted her, though she was the one who needed consolation the most, âItâs okay. Itâs just a small operation and it will be finished in a blink of the eye.â
Stella felt it hard to force a smile.
When Sherry left the room, Stella took out her phone to check the time.
She sent a message to Daniel before coming to the hospital, telling him that Sherry came to the hospital and asked him to make the decision. He should come here if he wanted to keep the child, of course, he didn't have to come here if he didnât want the child.
Now it seemed that Sherryâs hunch was true.
Daniel would probably not game.
Stella heaved a sigh. When she prepared to put her phone back into her pocket, a piece of news suddenly popped out.
It was about a murder case.
Stella pressed her temples. She didnât know why there were many frenzied and cruel people in this world.
Sherry finished the examination soon and the result should the indicators were all normal, which meant she could have an operation.
Stella sent her to the operation room. She didnât know what she should say.
Sherry, on the contrary, felt much relieved when being sent here. âThey said it will be done soon. Stella, just wait for me outside and I will go out soon.
Letâs have a hot pot tonight.â
Stellaâs eyes became red. She smiled bitterly and complaint, âAre you a fool. Youâre not allowed to eat that.â
âAlas, what a pity. I have a good appetite now.â
The nurse urged her, âPlease come in.â
Sherry replied, âOkay.â
She waved at Stella, âWait for me on the bench. See you later.â
When Sherry was sent into the operation room, Stella lowered her head and heaved a long sigh.
Stella turned around. When she prepared to go out to buy some water, she noticed a person was hopping around in the hall.
Stella quickly walked over, âDaniel.â
Daniel turned around, panting, âWhereâs Sherry.â
Stella pointed at the operation room, âThere.â
Daniel immediately ran towards the room.
Stella hurriedly followed him.
When Daniel ran to the operation room, he found the door had been closed.
Daniel banged the door, âSherry! Sherry Perry, who allowed you to come here? Go out!â
The noise caused many peopleâs attention and they surrounded Daniel to watch the show.
A nurse walked over, âWhat are you doing? Donât you know youâre in the hospital?â
Daniel slightly pressed his thin lips together and his whole body tensed up.
Stella said, âDonât be so anxious. She was just sent into the room and the operation probably hasnât started.â
She turned around to look at the nurse, âMy friend is in the operation room. Can you please let her come out?â
Seeing that Daniel would not give up easily and fearing that he would continue to make a fuss, the nurse replied, âI will go in and ask about her opinion.â
âThank you.â

Stella asked in astonishment, âBut she was just sent into the operation room five minutes ago...â
âI donât know. Anyway, the operation has been done.â
Daniel murmured to himself, âItâs my bad. If I have made up my mind early, this would not happen.â
The onlookers discussed in whispers. In their eyes, this was a typical show of a playboyâs regret and it was quite interesting and worthy to watch it.
