In the ward...
Stella finally gave up after she turned the ward upside down but still failed to find her phone.
It seemed like that wretched man brought her phone away with him.
A while later, Sherry returned with her head down and looked as if all her energy was siphoned out of her.
Stella saw her state and asked, âSherry, did Daniel find you?â
Sherry nodded and sank herself in the sofa.
âWhat did he say?â
Sherry asked in a very pissed off tone, âI asked him when will he move away, guess what he said in return.â
Stella sat beside her, âWhat?â
âHe said that he wonât be going away for the time being!â Sherry clenched her fists, âDamn it, he wonât be leaving! If I knew that beforehand, I wouldnât have done...What I did that night. I thought that we wonât be meeting each other in the future anyway, and both of us are of age, so whatâs wrong with us letting loose for a night! But! Heâs not leaving!â
She let the sofa consume her even further while looking as if all hope was lost for her, âIt was supposed to be a one-night stand, I thought this is business as usual for him, why would he suddenly act like heâs in love with me, and wanted to move into my house. Whatâs wrong with him?â
Stella put on a smile, patted her shoulder and said, âItâs alright, since heâs not leaving, you can wait and see what heâll do next. Who knows, maybe he really is in love with you.â
Sherry chuckled sarcastically and replied, âYeah, right. I can tell that heâs definitely a playboy, the girls that he love are probably in the double digits, and I sure donât want to be lumped together with them.â
She was not wrong.
Stella did not try to advise her anymore, âIâll be fine here, you can return to the workshop, donât worry about me.â
Sherry immediately rejected her proposal, âNo can do, your beloved Mr. Conrad instructed me to look...Accompany you. Iâm here on a mission, you see. If I left, who knows that he wonât come after my skin for abandoning my mission?â
Stella was speechless.
She replied, âHe took my phone with him, I canât even go anywhere.â
Sherry asked,â Really? That wretched man really has it in for you, huh. No one can survive without their phones in this day and age. Do you think this is his punishment for you?â
Stella smiled, âProbably, yeah.â
âI shouldnât leave you alone, then. Imagine how boring it would be for you if I wasnât here. So, Iâll stay here and chat with you for a while so that you donât get any weird ideas.â
In the afternoon, Stella lied on her bed, the television nearby was still playing some variety show, but her mind had already wandered outside the window.
She could not stand staying there for one day.
Let alone half a freaking month.
Stella recalled her wandering mind and saw that Sherry was sleeping in the sofa. She tried to not make any noises while leaving the ward to go downstairs for some leg stretching.
She was lying on the bed for almost the whole day.
It was around three or four in the afternoon, Stella avoided crowded areas and walked to the garden at the back. As she wanted to sit on a bench for some sunlight, she saw someone familiar.
When that person turned around and started to leave, they saw Stella and started to panic.
Stella met her eyes and said, âMs. Jason.â
Rebecca clasped her hands together and looked to be slightly nervous. She hesitated for a few seconds before walking towards her. As she saw that Stella was wearing a patientâs outfit, she asked, âMs. Radomil...May I ask what happened to you?â
âNothing serious, really. I fainted because of my anaemia.â As a courtesy, she also asked Rebecca, âWhat about you, Ms. Jason?â
âMy...My father suffered from a cerebral haemorrhage, heâs in a stable condition for now.â
Stella did not expect that kind of answer. She nodded, âI see, then I shall not bother you any further.â
Rebecca grabbed her own dress, bit her lips and said, âMs. Radomil...â
Stella looked at her and replied, âIs there anything else?â
Rebecca wanted to say something, but she saw other patients passing by, she hesitated and said, âHorace, he...Should be on the way back now.â
Hearing that, Stella was startled. A few seconds later, she asked, âHowâs Mr. Jasonâs condition, is it very serious?â
Rebecca replied, âActually, my fatherâs health has been bad for quite some time now. While the doctors are able to save him this time, they also stated that heâs not in a very good state and wanted us to be prepared for anything. My father is also afraid that he might pass away without notice, so he wanted to meet Horace one last time.â
...
When Stella returned to her wards, Sherry had just woken up and was about to leave and look for her.
As Sherry saw her, she breathed a sigh of relief, âStella, just where did you go? You scared the living hell out of me, I thought youâve escaped from the hospital or something.â
Stella smiled in response, âLook at me, I couldnât have gone far if I tried. I just went downstairs for some fresh air.â
Sherry yawned as she lumped back into the sofa again. She took out her phone and said, âHave some soda, itâs ought to wake you up. What do you want to drink?â
Stella sat on the side of the bed and said, âSherry.â
âHmm?â
âI met Rebecca just now.â
Sherry was stunned, âRebecca? Horaceâs sister?â
Stella nodded, âIn the flesh.â
âWhy would she be here?â
âMr. Jason is hospitalized, it seems like his condition is rather serious. Horace is about to come back here, too.â
Mr. Conrad Proposes to His Ex-wife Again Sherry heard what Stella said, she sighed, âThe Jason family has been really unfortunate these two years, huh. Just as their overseas business is about to start thriving, Mr. Jason is hospitalized. And now the Jason Group needs a leader, Iâm guessing that Horace wonât be going away any time soon after he returns.â
She then lamented, âCompared to Horace, that rival Emmett ainât nothing. Looks like Mr. Conradâs gonna be jealous for a while now.â
However, she saw that Stella was not responding. She was looking out the window, thinking about other things. Sherry waved her hand in front of Stella and said, âHey, Iâm joking. Are you seriously still in love with Horace?â
Stella still did not respond.
She pulled at Sherryâs waving arm and said, âWhat are you talking about? Iâm thinking about Rebecca.â
Sherry replied, âWhatâs on with her?â
âI felt like she was acting weird. She looked like she was panicking when she saw me, it was practically written all over her face.â
Sherry added, âIs it because she had done something behind your back? And sheâs feeling guilty?â
Stella did not tell Sherry that the mastermind behind her involuntary swimming session in the Conrad family was Rebecca, but when she heard her guess, Stella could not help but frown and replied, âIs it really, though?â
Stella recalled that when Rebecca told her the truth and left the workshop, her expression was one of guilt and regret.
If anything, it should not be anxious and panic.
Sherry said, âWhy wouldnât it? Only people who are hiding something will be acting like that. But that doesnât make sense, all this while the Jason family has been keeping their heads low, trying hard to not get into any sort of trouble. So logically speaking, Rebecca wonât be risking pissing off Clarence just to do something bad to you.â
Stella shook her head, maybe she really was overthinking it.
If Rebecca really wanted to hurt her, she would not have went and apologized to her, let alone warning her to be wary of Phoebe Steward.
She thought about that, and stopped worrying about Rebecca.
