Chapter NinetyâFour
Ryley
Blake popped his head in to let me know he was heading to his office. I was in the middle of scolding my wolf when he interrupted me. With everything that has happened, she should have warned me.
âWhy the hell didnât you tell me about you sleeping after my heat? And why the fuck did I even go into heat? Lily, I need answers,â I demanded, as I stood under the hot water.
âFirst, I thought you knew about a wolf sleeping after being in heat. Itâs something your mother should have told you. And second, I donât know why we went into heat.â She retorted.
âMy mother told me a wolf wonât go into heat unless marked. Iâm not marked. And I needed you. Aspen almost died and then I did because I cut my arm to give him my blood and I almost bled to death.â I scoffed.
âLuna wolves will sleep longer than most. Most wolves would have been up a day or two after. Iâm sorry, I didnât warn you, Ryley. But to be honest, Iâve never been in heat before. I felt funny all day and then when that male wolf was looking at you like that, it clicked. Then things
happened so fast, and then I was sleeping.â She explained. I let out a sigh as I washed my body.
âAnd you donât know why we went into heat?â I questioned.

âI donât. I wish I could answer that. But did I hear you correctly, earlier? We are joining Blakeâs pack?â She asked, her tail thumping in my head.
âYes, we are joining the pack,â I told her. I explained everything that had happened since she was sleeping.
âRyley, why the hell would you go back to that pack without me? Are you insane? Did you hit your head when I was sleeping?â She exclaimed, sarcastically. I rolled my eyes at my wolfâs attitude.
âI get it. It was stupid, okay. But I didnât expect for Dorianâs dad to care if I was alive or dead,â I shrugged.
âChanning has full claim over that pack. He is the firstborn, alpha wolf to Dorian. And you are his mate. You have every right to march in there and claim him and his pack. Of course, his father would be worried. Not to mention the dirt you have on the man that is a death sentence. And you just walked in there like you owned the place without me or Blake to back you up,â she scolded. I knew I deserved it, but that didnât make it sting any less.
âI get it, Lily. I fucked up. Iâm joining Blakeâs pack. We are also going to speak with Lisa and Dorian today. Hopefully, we can come up with a plan.â I told her. I climbed out of the shower, drying off before wrapping the towel around myself.
I had some time to kill before I had to see Blake in his office. Maybe I should give Walter a call. I know heâll scold me like the others but he could see something that I donât. Or he could have information on Darius.

After I was dressed, I made my way to the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee. I noticed Blake had the same coffee maker that he put in my office. I smiled thinking about everything he had done for me and Channing.
âHeâs a good alpha and an even better man, Ryley. And he wants you.â Lily huffed, annoyed.
âThank you,â I mocked.
As I waited for my coffee, Channing and Aspen came walking into the apartment. They were both covered in sweat from their early morning training. Tomorrow I will have to go with them. I need to get back into my morning
routine.
âRyley, good morning, how are you feeling?â Aspen greeted me. He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.
âBetter, thank you, sweetie.â I smiled.
âMom, why would you go see Dad?â Channing growled, standing on the other side of the island. He has his arms crossed over his chest.
âSweetie, I didnât go see your father. I went to see Lisa.â I
corrected him.
âHis mate? Why the hell would you risk everything to go see her?â He retorted.
âChanning, I donât appreciate the attitude. I understand you may be upset, but that doesnât mean you can speak to me like that.â I scolded him.

âFine, donât fucken tell me,â he scoffed before walking away. Lily let out a growl, stopping him in his tracks.
âWhen you have calmed down, Iâll be willing to answer all of your questions,â I called out to him. He was quick to slam
his bedroom door. I let out a sigh as I stared down the hallway.
âHeâll come around,â Aspen said, giving me a side hug
before he went to his room.
I poured myself a coffee before sitting on a stool in front of the kitchen island. I rested my head in my hands as I thought about the mess I had made. I didnât even get a chance to tell Channing about us joining the pack. Instead, he stormed to his room.
âHeâs worried. He doesnât want you going back to your mate.â Lily chimed in.
âSo, should I go talk to him or wait until he calms down?â I sighed.
âHeâll have to come out of his room sometime. Just drink your coffee.â She answered.
âFine,â I grumbled, taking a sip.
This was the last thing I wanted. I didnât want to hurt my son. I needed answers, but I should have thought of a different way to get them. I sat there until I heard a door opening. I turned to see Channing walking down the hallway.
âSweetie, please sit,â I said to him.

âMom, Iâm going out,â he grumbled.
âChanning, you canât leave without a warrior. Also, we have to wait until Blake is done with his meeting. We are joining his pack today,â I told him, as I placed my empty mug in the
sink.
âSeriously?â I heard Aspen exclaimed, walking into the kitchen from his room.
âAs soon as Blake is finished with this meeting, we will officially be a member of your pack,â I told Aspen.
âThatâs if Channing still wants to be a part of this pack?â I said, facing my son. I could see his emotions written on his face.
âWe are really going to join a pack?â He mumbled, his emotions caught in his throat. I walked over to him, taking
his hands in mine.
âItâs what I want, and I hope you still want that as well.â He gave me a nod before he wrapped his arms around me.
âThank you, mom.â
