Chapter Fifteen
Alpha Blake
When Ryley mentioned seeing an old friend, I couldnât help the feeling of jealousy that rose from the pit of my stomach. I didnât understand it. She wasnât mine but I didnât want her to be touched by another man. I was about to deny her request until she explained the situation. I was able to relax but now I was curious about who these people were. Who were these people who Channing called grandparents? Were they actually family and she just didnât want to say?
When training was over, I walked into the pack house to find Warrior Aiden waiting for me. He knows Ryley and even after our chat right after her arrival, I still had so many unanswered questions.
âAlpha,â he greeted me and I shook his hand.
âGood, youâre here,â I said, but Ryley interrupted me. She greeted Aiden like they were old friends. Which brought back the feeling of jealousy, even though he has a mate. But then she stood so close, I could feel the heat of her body. My senses went into overdrive as her scent consumed me. My c**k twitched in my jeans, and I had to subtly adjust myself as my c**k pressed again the zipper.
What the hell was happening? I havenât felt this way in years.
âSince our mate,â Gunner whined.
âIâm sorry, buddy.â Lust changed to guilty as I thought about my mate.
When I came back to my senses, Ryley was gone and Aiden was giving me a smirk.

âDonât,â I growled.
âHey, I didnât say a word,â he defended, holding up his hands. Shaking my head, I made my way to my office with Aiden. Entering Luca was already waiting.
âYou okay?â He asked as I took my seat. Aiden snickered and I glared at him.
âOh, I see. Ryley,â he said, looking at Aiden and he nodded, with a grin.
âWill both of you shut up!â I barked.
âIsnât Aiden here to get you more information about her? Or is he here for a morning chat? Luca chuckled.
âAiden is here so I can feel better about having a lone wolf in my pack.â I retorted. And hopefully, answer how she was able to fight my command. Luca held up his hands, shaking his head.
âNow, what have you found?â I turned my attention to Aiden. Heâs great at finding things. If you need something or someone, he can most likely find it.
âI donât feel good about going behind Ryleyâs back. She and my mate are friends. And if you know Ryley, she will kill all of us.â Aiden told us and Luca groaned.
âIâm still sore. She knows how to make someone feel old.â I chuckled, shaking my head. He was the same age as me and he was acting like an old man.
âDid you find anything or not?â Isaacâs file proved to have nothing of importance.

âNothing for a Ryley Halliwell before seventeen years ago. And there is no father listed on Channingâs birth certificate. There were also no known residences until about two years after he was born. The apartment building burned down a few years ago, but the area of u. city is a s*it hole. How she would raise her son there, is beyond me.â He said.
âI donât think she had a choice. Whatever happened, happened after she slept with her mate? I donât think she knew who he was to her until after she found out she was pregnant.â Luca told us.
âHonestly, you should just ask her. Or just trust her. The fact she even set foot inside a pack, means something. I remember after I first met her, I offered to introduce her to you, alpha. I didnât like that she was a lone wolf. She may be strong but rogues are ruthless. But she refused. Whoever hurt her, must have been an alpha,â Aiden explained. Just the thought of her being hurt made my blood boil. But I think the fact that she believed she was safer alone than with a pack, affected me more. A pack is supposed to be like a family.
âThat should narrow it down,â I sighed.
âYou should ask your father, Blake. He may know something from that time that you donât. He was acting alpha as you took care of Mia.â Luca said.
âIâll give him a call. Aiden, you can go back to your previous assignment. Maybe Aspen can get something out of Channing,â I said.
âYes, alpha. But I think you should just talk to her. Gain her trust. Whatever happened, made her lose her faith in having a pack.â Aiden said, before excusing himself.
âSay it,â I growled when Luca kept hesitating to speak his mind. Heâs been my friend through the good, bad, and the ugly. Nothing he has to

say will change that.
âI think you should trust her. Iâve spent time with Channing and someone sinister couldnât have raised such a great kid. Seriously, wish I could trade. She may open up, she may not, but sheâs only here for the summer. You may not want to waste your chance,â he sighed.
I was thinking over his words when there was a knock on the door and Aspen came strolling in with Channing.
âBoys, whatâs up?â I asked them.
âChanning is going fishing this weekend, Can I go?â Aspen asked me.
âHave you asked Ryley?â I questioned.
âWe wanted to ask you first, sir. I already know my mom will say yes, Channing answered.
âItâs cuz she likes me,â Aspen grinned and Channing pushed him.
âWill you shut up and keep your dirty thoughts to yourself, you sick ba**ard,â Channing growled and Aspen laughed.
âAspen, enough. Iâm sure you can find someone your own age,â I scolded him and Luca snickered. I rolled my eyes at my best friend.
âAnd to answer your question, Iâll have to talk it over with Ryley. You both donât have your wolves and I donât know the area.â I told them.
âOh, I think Ryley could take on an army,â Luca groaned, standing up, cracking his back.
âLetâs go ask my future wife,â Aspen exclaimed, rushing out of my office.

âShe will kill you, you di**hit,â Channing yelled, and I chuckled. I do not doubt that. He gave me a nod before following my mo**n of a son.
âI wonder if Ryley would take a two-for-one deal? Our sonâs for her?â
