- Avery's POV -
Ugh! Do you ever feel like you're dirty? Like your skin is crawling to rinse away all of its filth? Thats how I feel right now. Apparently the Blue Moon pack was really fucking slow because they still didn't arrive to rescue Jenna and I. The floor we were sitting on was beyond dirty. I even saw a couple of cockroaches crawl by and once I even saw a rat! What makes it worse is that we can't move because the silver will just end up burning off my flesh. Great just fucking great! I have a fantastic life....don't ya think?
I look besides me and saw that Jenna finally managed to fall asleep. Thank goodness! She looked so tired but she was too scared to actually sleep. The door to this prison like place opened and I had hope. Once again it was disregarded when Alex stepped into the light. I groaned in annoyance.
"What's your problem now?" He rolled his eyes and I scoffed
"Oh. I have absolutely no problem. I'm sitting on a clean floor, I had a nice shower and a big meal. I'm not in a prison and I wasn't kidnapped so that I can have someone's children by force. I'm absolutely perfect!" I smiled sarcastically and he let out a small growl
"Listen here. I dont appreciate your sarcasm." He said stiffly
"Well, I don't appreciate you" I replied with a smirk and his jaw clenched
"Before I lose my temper....I came to bring you to the Alpha. He wants you" he said with a wicked grin and I gulped
"Why?" I asked in a small voice and he chuckled darkly
"Not so brave now, are you?" He smirked and I rolled my eyes
"Can you just answer my question?!" I yelled and he frowned
"I don't know. He just said he wanted you" he replied and I glanced over at Jenna
"What are you gonna do to my friend?" I asked nervously
"Hm, I have some ideas" he looked at her and licked his lips. Gross! That is so not going to happen.
"Well, you can keep them to yourself because I'm not going anywhere unless she comes with me" I said trying to sound confident and Alex's eyes turned a dark shade
"And if I drag you out of here anyway?" He asked
"Um...I'll bite you?" I said but it came out as a question and he laughed loudly
"Alright. She can come with us. Wake her up" he said crossing his arms in front of his chest. I looked over at Jenna and internally felt sorry that I'm going to have to wake her up. I moved my hands and the silver burned against my skin. BLOODY HELL! I bit my lip in pain and stopped moving my hands. Instead, I use my leg to kick her legs and tried to wake her up. After a few seconds of my struggle she started to move and groan. Then as if realizing where she was she jolted up and then screamed when the sliver touched her skin.
"Avery?!" She yelled and I cleared my throat
"I'm right here" I said and she turned to me and I saw her sigh in relief. Then she looked up and saw Alex there. She turned to me and gave me a questioning look.
"The Alpha wants to see me and I wasnt gonna leave you alone" I smiled and she nodded
"Thanks" she said and Alex rolled his eyes
"Can we get going?" he muttered and I nodded. He took out a key from his back pocket and walked towards me. He unlocked the handcuffs and did the same with Jenna. I move my hands around and grinned. Ah! That felt so good. I looked at Jenna and I could tell she was having the same thought.
"Get up" Alex said sternly and we complied. He started walking out of the prison like room and we took that as a sign to follow him. I felt like I was seeing light for the first time. Wow! You never know how good your life is until it changes drastically. I have to say, their pack house is remarkably beautiful and big. The walls were white and the detailing was gold. The drapes on some of the windows were also gold. The floors were white tiles. The house had a modern look to it.
We followed Alex until he stopped in front of a wooden door. Im guessing Alpha Ashton was behind this door...
"He wants to see you alone" Alex said and then looked at Jenna who now looked a bit scared
"You can take a shower in one of the spare rooms in the meantime" Alex said to Jenna and she grinned
"Lucky" I muttered under my breath and she looked at me and stuck her tongue out briefly before following Alex. I turned around to face the wooden door.
"Come in" a deep voice commanded. I pushed open the door leading to an office. He sat behind a huge glass desk and in front of the desk was a black leather couch. I walked over and took a seat on the couch to which he raised his eyebrows at.
"Did I tell you to sit down?" he smirked and I shrugged
"You didn't need to tell me to, I have eyes" I remarked and he leaned back amused in his seat
"Cut the small talk. Why did you want to see me?" I glared leaning forward and poked him in the chest while talking. Needless to say, I felt like I was poking a brick. He looked down at my finger and before I could pull it away he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of my seat and into the desk, which was the only thing separating us. My eyes widened as he raised my finger to his mouth and bite it gently. Then he let go and I fell back into my seat.
"What the hell?!" I shouted and he smirked
"What?" he asked acting innocent
"You just y-ou b-bit my finger" I stuttered. Ugh, I hated when that happened
"So? We're going to have sex soon anyway" he shrugged and I had a coughing fit
"We're going to WHAT?" I yelled standing up
"Well, how else do you expect to get pregnant. I thought you already learned where babies come from?" he laughed and I gaped at him. What is wrong with this guy?
"Im not going to give birth to your kids! Get that in your head" I screamed and he stopped laughing and looked at me seriously. I saw specks of black mixing with his pools of blue in his eyes. I gulped in fear.
"What?" he seethed and I backed up when he got up and started coming closer
"I -um- I said I'm not going to have sex with you" I said and soon I was against the wall and he was still approaching. Shit! He put his hand on the wall and it was grazing against my cheek. He leaned in close and his nose was touching mine.
"And who says you have a choice?" he said darkly, his lips hovering over mine. Oh god! I can not kiss someone who is not my mate. It just goes against all my morals. So I shakily took in a breath and placed the palms of my hands on his chest.
"I do!" I whispered and pushed him back. He looked at me with surprised and frowned.
"You are a lot stronger and braver than you look" he stated and I felt proud for a second
"I know" I said smugly and he opened his mouth to reply but a shout from outside cut him off
"Stay here" he commanded and left the room in a hurry.
Ok then? I guess I'll go do a bit of exploring! I walked over to his desk and looked to see if he had any photos and sadly he didn't have any. He had many papers on his desk but one really stood out. The piece of paper looked old compared to all the other papers. It also had a beautiful feminine handwriting scrawled across it. I slowly picked it up, my interest at its peak.
Dear Ashton,
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry you got stuck with me for a mate. A woman who doesn't want a mate and will never want one. I dont have the strength to reject you in person so like a coward, I'm doing it in a letter. I, Melanie Evans, reject you, Ashton Cummings. I'm sorry, I had planned to take my life way before I met you and meeting you won't change my plans. I'm sorry. I hope you live your life to the fullest.

I gasped and dropped the letter. It was a suicide note. Ashton's mate rejected him in a letter and then killed herself. Oh my god! I backed away from the desk and covered my mouth.
"You read it?" a voice said and I looked up in surprise. Ashton was back and he was looking at me with guarded eyes.
"Im sorry. Yes. I read it." I looked down ashamed of myself
"Its alright. I didn't deserve a mate anyway" he said and his voice sound shaky towards the ending and I looked up. One single tear. One single tear fell from his left eye and he quickly wiped it away. I walked towards him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Im so sorry." I said softly and pulled him into a hug to which he responded back and started shaking and softly crying. After a few seconds he pulled away and wiped his tears. His stone cold facade was back and his lips were set in a firm line.
"They're here. Your pack is here" he said and I looked up at him. His face showed no emotion whereas mine did. I was overjoyed! Finally! I was about to run out of the room when Ashton held my arm.
"What did you think? Now that you know my past, I'll let you go? Well, you're sadly mistaken. My pack is not going down without a fight." he smiled sinisterly and took a sharp intake of air
"Why? You dont have to do this! Im sure deep....deep down youre a good person" I said and he frowned
"Well, you're wrong there is no good in me. Lets go" he commanded and pulled me out of the room with him and I struggled in his grasp
"Let me go" I groaned and he growled in annoyance so I stayed quiet. I didnt want to aggravate him even more.
He pushed me outside and I fell to the muddy ground.
"Aw man!" he groaned when he saw that I fell and helped me up. I surveyed the scene in front of me. My biological dad, Parker, Ryan, Nate and some other people from the Blue Moon pack were fighting with several people from the Nightstar Raven pack. From the looks of it....the Nightstar Raven pack was definitely winning. Fudgecakes!
"See what you have caused?" Ashton whispered by my ear and I shivered from his warm breath tickling my ear
I started out on the battlefield and watched sadly. Then Parker caught my eye and looked at me. He was still in his human form.
"AVERY!" he yelled and I bit my lip as a few tears flew down my face. He ran over to where I was standing and caressed my cheeks wiping away my tears,
"Im sorry. Im so sorry. I just kissed her. I didnt mean too. Then I overheard Ryan and he planned to, and I tried to warn you but you didnt listen and I'm so sorry. You got hurt, and it's all-" he rambled and I cut him off my placing my lips on his. The whole world seemed to disappear right when our lips met. The sparks can came back and I felt like my lips were constantly being electrocuted. His lips were so soft. Unremarkably soft....it was unnatural! Then reality came crashing in as Ashton ripped him away from me and pushed him to the ground.
Ashton let out a loud growl and his clothes ripped as he allowed his wolf to take over. Parker stood up and his jaw tightened. He watched as Ashton's bones cracked and watched when Ashton turned into a wolf that was almost exactly like Parker's wolf except it had blue eyes and was a bit bigger whereas Parker's wolf had golden eyes from what I remember. Parker stayed in his human form and I looked at him surprised.
"What the hell are you doing?! Transform!" I yelled at him and he glanced at me but still did not transform. Ashton's wolf ran forward and jumped on top of Parker. Parker rolled over and now he was on top of Ashton. Ashton snarled and kicked up knocking Parker back. I couldn't watch anymore.
I turned around and saw Alex and Jenna standing behind me. Jenna watched the fight with wide eyes and she froze when she saw Nate. He was fighting a person who looked about our age and they were both in human form. Nate is human! Why would he come! He could get seriously hurt. My eyes drifted to Parker and Ashton yet again and now both of them were standing. Parker had scratch marks on his face and they were bleeding a lot but thanks to werewolf healing, it was healing up quite well.
Ashton was back human form and somehow he obtained some basketball shorts and he was wearing them. His face was bruised and his nose was bleeding. Parker threw a punch but Ashton dodged it and punched Parker in the stomach and he groaned. Parker kicked Ashton in the shin and he fell to the ground. Parker took that moment to transform into his beautiful black wolf and he jumped on top of Ashton. Raising his paw he slashed Ashton across his chest and Ashton's chest started bleeding profusely.
Parker lowered his head and bit into Ashton's shoulder which also started to bleed a lot. Then Parker bit into his neck. Oh god! I closed my eyes and sunk to the ground. Ashton was dead and I felt horrible. I closed my eyes and tried to remember his threats against Parker hoping that would make me felt better about Parker killing him. I mean, he was going to kill Parker.....I shouldn't feel bad. I looked at his lifeless body on the ground and I closed my eyes. Maybe he'll meet his mate in the afterlife. I looked over at Parker who had transformed back into his human form and he had on a pair of shorts. Where were these pairs of shorts coming from? Gosh!
"Are you ok?" I asked worried as I looked at his cuts
"They'll heal. What's important is that you're safe now" he smiled and grabbed my hand, running the pad of his thumb across the top of my hand, sending shocks of electricity up my arm. Suddenly a scream brought our attention away from each other. I looked behind me at Jenna who had her attention on something or should I say someone out on the battlefield. Hm, I would've thought that since their Alpha died, they would have given up but they sure were determined! I looked to where Jenna was looking and saw that the boy that Nate was fighting with had a gun. Not just any gun, but it was a silver bullet gun. Since Nate was human it didn't matter if it was silver or not. But, what mattered was that silver bullets were made way bigger than normal bullets because they were meant to kill werewolves. It would surely kill Nate.
I watched in fear as Nate stood still and the boy placed his finger on the trigger. It was like it all happened in slow motion. The boy pulled the trigger and a loud noise filled the air causing everyone to stop fighting and look over to them. The bullet flew forward but it never reached Nate. Instead, Parker had ran from where he was standing with great speed and Parker had jumped in front of Nate. I watched as the bullet hit him making him fall to the ground. I screamed as I watched the scene unfold and I screamed even louder as I felt a world ending pain in my body. I dropped to the ground. I felt what he felt. I felt when the bullet hit him and I felt when the silver bullet entered him causing a burning in his body.
I gasped for air as I fell down to the ground, the same way Parker did. Except I didn't get hit with a bullet. Only Parker did. I only felt his pain. I felt tears escaped my eyes and I saw Jenna run over to me.
"Avery!" she yelled crouching down next to me and holding my head
That was the last thing I heard before I fainted, letting the darkness take me away.
