Ciara Mendes
For many years I've been attending charity events. It was thanks to my father who happens to be an Orthopaedic Oncologist, he is also the proud founder and owner of Johnathan Grant public hospital that was named after his great grandfather. He worked in many hospitals across the world and that is how he met my mother, who was majoring in fine arts in a college in Canada where she was born and raised.
She met in a small accident which was to blame on her clumsiness, upon arriving to the hospital she ran into my father who was working there that day. They fell in love, they were a happy couple until my mother decided to cheat and got caught a day when dad and I had arrived home from the movies. That was a sight I will never forget, it left permanent damage to what I had first thought of my mother.
We weren't suppose to be home for another hour but I ate something I was allergic to therefore we had to return home for my medicine, that would be the reason it became my fault why she was caught. Why her marriage fell apart.
Micah pulled up in front of the Sun View Hotel. He had invited his Britney look alike as his date, her real name was Navia Vicctory. My plus one happens to be Evei, she had cancelled all her plans to comfort me therefore leaving her alone in my house was not an option.
Navia and Micah walked ahead of us, up the stairs towards the main entrance. She look stunning in her navy blue dress and she seemed like a very sweet young woman.
"He must be really into her to fly her from New York to L.A just for her to be his date." Evei whispers.
"I know. He seems really happy and Navia seems nice." I agree as we entered the big room which was decorated in gold and pick theme.
As we entered the room the first thing that greeted us was the podium where a few people were seated. Waiters and Waitress were walking around offering hors d'oeurvre and wine, everyone and everything looked elegant.
Taking my note pad and a pen from my purse I start to jot down some notes. Evei rolls her eyes, "I forgot that you're also here to work, why don't you leave it until later and go mingle with the rich and single?"
"Work comes first E."
"Whatever." She says looking around then abruptly starts shaking my arm, "Oh look there's your dad and he's coming this way."
Evei has a crush on my father since the first time she saw him without a shirt, which was a summer after seventh grade when he took us on a trip to Jamaica. It's really gross the way she looks at him, he was fifty for crying out loud not to mention that he could also be her father.
"He is so hot." She whispers as she squeeze the life from my unfortunate arm.
"Gross Eve." I drown my glass of wine to settle the sick feeling I was getting in my stomach."Are you ever going to get over him? He's my father and you are my best friend don't you see anything wrong with that?"
"Gosh C it's not like I'm getting down on my knee to propose to him and I have no intention of being your new mommyâalthough you could use a new beautiful and famous one."
"I think I'm going to be sick." I say holding my stomach even though she was only joking.
My father walks over to us dressed in his grey suit that I was sure was some kind of name brand. His smile was bright and his black hair brush back in a stylish way. "Pudding." he say as he hugs me before pressing a kiss on my forehead.
"Your cousin Eliza told me what happened, she heard from your mother who was probably too guilty to tell me herself. Why didn't you tell me pudding, how are you holding up?"
Eliza Steger is my mother elder sisters' daughter. She is a twenty nine year old Obstetrician at my fathers hospital and also a big gossiper, she also happens to be my least favourite cousin.
"I'm sorry dad I just needed time to get my head straight, and I'll get over it." I give him a small smile.
"Time heals all wound honey." He says kissing my forehead, "you should get back out there and forget about what your sister had done."
"That's what I've been telling her." My best friend says with the intention of getting my father's attention.
"Eve." He greet my best friend by kissing both her cheeks which immediately turn a small shade of pink.
"Mr Mendes you look as handsome as ever." I try not to throw up as I watch her flirt with my father.
"Thank you Eve, you look lovely as well how is your career going for you?"
Evei smile sweetly at him as she prepares to answer him. "I-"
"I have work to do, Dad why don't we have lunch together before you leave again." I say before discreetly glaring at Evei who only smile in return.
"Sure sweetheart."
After about an hour of bidding, speeches and other entertainment I had written enough for tomorrow story in the Flare magazine. All I had to do was go home, type it on my computer and edit it, then submit it to Melissa who will re-edit it before it is ready to be published.
I was on my way to find Evei when I saw two familiar faces in the crowd of people. The brunette man grasp the raven hair woman upper arm gentle as he whispers something in her ear she threw her head back dramatically laughing at whatever the dark eye cheater had said.
My blood boils in my veins as I watch the new happy couple. I can't believe they're going public with their relationship. Bridget should be ashamed of herself, she knew both dad and I would be here yet she still showed up with that bastard.
I felt so much hurt as I watch the two behaving as if no one else was in this room.
Giovanni Haynes
"What a lovely surprise seeing your here Ms Mendes." The woman big grey eyes look up at me before focusing on whatever she was looking at across the room.
"It's nice seeing you too Mr Haynes." She says void of an emotion. Who was she kidding I was the last person she wanted to see, though I have no idea why.
Women love me.
A few minutes ago I had no intention of ever meeting her again, I honestly did not even remember anything about her until Mat pointed her out to me. Telling me there was my chance and that he would occupy Mandy's time until I return. If he wasn't in town for this charity event then I would have not been in this situation.
Before I had the chance to say another word she glance at me," Will you please excuse me."
Without waiting for an answer she walk across the room, bumping into a couple on her way. Bumping into them was no accident, it seemed more as if it was her intention since the woman almost fell flat on her ass if it wasn't for the man who had caught her.
My phone buzz in my pocket, I retrieve it to see a message from Mat, "Have you lost your touch cousin?"
I could always give Mateo the ten percent of my company but there was no way I'm giving up so easily I won't stop until that sexy grey eye woman is head over heels in love with me, then I will get back to my lifestyle for everyone knew I am not a one lady man.
I look back at the three who seemed to be arguing. I'll just get this over with as fast as possible. I make my way over to them before sliding my arm around the small waist of Ms Mendes, she jumps slightly before looking up at me.
"What's the matter baby?" I kiss the top of her head before looking at the couple, who both stared at me. Was that shock I saw on their faces?
Ciara try to pull away from my grasp but I held her tighter.
"That was quick." The female says with more attitude than needed,"and here I was feeling guilty for betraying my little sister."
Little sister? I look at Ciara who was glaring at the woman who smile at her, though her smile was not genuine . Was this woman really Ciara's sister, they did share a few similarities like the same hair and eye colour. Yet one more beautiful than the other.
"Ladies lets not do this here." the man says standing between the two.
"Do what exactly Fisher?" Ciara challenge. "Are you afraid I'll make a scene then everyone will know what a cheating bastard you both are?"
I run my fingers of my unoccupied hand through my hair, sighing, what have I gotten myself into. The only thing I knew about this woman was her name, occupation and where she worked, yet here I was getting myself involved with her. She could be a psychopath for all I know and getting a psychopath to fall in love with me would be a major problem in the future.
Still at this very moment I felt like standing by her for emotional support.
"It doesn't seem to matter to you much since you moved on with Giovanni Haynes pretty quickly. Tell me sister how fast did you spread your legs to have him practically glued to you like that?"
What?
"Unlike you Bridget I don't have to spread my legs for a man to stay." The woman next to me could handle herself without a mans' help and that brought a smile on my face.
The woman fold her arms together and roll her grey eyes, which irritated the hell out of me. "That would be the reason Fisher came running to me just a few months before your wedding, right? You're such a prude little Ciara."
This was the man whom she was talking about a week ago. I look at the man as I put two and two together. That seemed to have hit a nerve as Ms Mendes, whispers the words loud enough for the three of us to hear, "Like mother like daughter." Before releasing herself from my grasp and running off to the exist.
I followed after her without spearing a second glance at the two people who seemed to deserve each other.
She was standing outside of the hotel as I approach her I saw that she was drowning a bottle of tequila. I easily pulled the bottle from her hand and held it up out of her reach.
"This is your fault!" she glares at me.
"Enlighten me butter cup, how is this my fault?" I understood why she was blaming me but that did not stop me from asking.
"If you had just stayed where I left you instead of following after me then those bastards wouldn't have thought that I was sleeping with you and the kiss on the head, what was that about?!"
I shrug as if I was the innocent one here,"Is it so bad for them to assume that we slept together? I mean- just look at me."
"You egocentric asshole, god I can't take this right now!" She yell before walking away from me.
Before I could go after her a woman beat me to it as she ran pass, not spearing me a glance, in her silver heels, holding up her long black gown. She threw her arms around Ciara. "I saw you running out baby, are you alright?"
I recognise her as Eve Malhamie a super model, Mateo's ex and the woman I had wild $ex with once.
