Chapter Thirty Six
As I walk into art, I feel like years have gone by since I last stepped foot in this room. In reality it was only one weekend, but it was a weekend absolutely filled with drama. My parents divorced, I spent the night with Hayden, and I discovered Noah has been lying to my face.
My body floods with shock when I see Hayden perched in his seat- the first he's actually been here since I started dating Noah. He's talking with Mr. Duncan, brows furrowed in stress as they speak quietly with one another.
"Should I be worried that you guys are like planning my death or something?" I joke as I walk closer to them.
Hayden's eyes snap towards me and the stress vanishes from his features and turns into a smile. "Hey Cupcake."
Mr. Duncan turns and smiles at me, "Morning Reagan, coffee's on the desk."
"Thank you Duncan."
He smiles but it melts into a frown quickly. "I heard about what happened with your parents, are you okay?"
I smile and walk towards him in order to give him a small side hug, "I'm okay, thank you for asking."
He gives me a small squeeze, "Of course, Reagan."
I grab the coffee from his desk and then walk towards Hayden. "You're here awfully early." Then I pause and add, "You're here. Where have you been the last few weeks?"
He gives me a guilty side glance, "I told you, I've been busy."
"Oh right, had to catch up on all those booty calls," I joke.
He chuckles, but it seems rather forced to me and he changes the subject. "So...how did things go once you left?"
I sigh and start playing with the lid of my coffee, getting small droplets on my fingers that will no doubt just make my skin sticky.
"We talked things through. The agreement mostly," I explain.
He turns his chair towards me and lays back in it lazily, but his full attention stays on me. "Did you get your questions answered?"
I shrug, "Yeah. Not that I really wanted to hear any answers they had."
He frowns, "I get it," then he pauses for a moment and clears his throat, "so, uh, did Noah find out where you were that night?"
I almost scoff, "Yeah. But it doesn't even compare to what I found out about him."
Hayden's brows shoot up and he sits up in his seat, my comment clearly sparking his interest. "What did you find out?"
I look up at him and sigh, "He didn't write my letters."
His brows shoot up and he seems rather speechless, so I continue.
"So once I found out, I talked to him and after he admitted it, I ended things." I say without feeling a tinge of regret.
Hayden seems to finally find his voice, "I'm sorry Reagan."
I glance at him and see the lightness of his eyes and the relief in his features and I chuckle, nudging him. "No you aren't."
He smiles back and shakes his head, "You're right. I'm not."
I feel a familiar smile spreading across my lips and I look away as a small blush spreads across my cheeks.
"So, now that you dumped Mr. Not-So-Goody-Two-Shoes, what are your plans for prom?" He asks.
"I think there are shorter nicknames," I tease.
He smirks, "Oh there are much shorter nicknames, I just want to keep this PG." Then he leans in closer and says in a much lower tone, "For now."
I raise a brow and place my hand on his chest to push him back slightly, "Down boy. And as for prom, I think I may tag along with Chloe and Cole. Chloe has asked me to go a few times since last night."
"Are you not the most keen on going?" He asks, reading my body language that suggests exactly what he said.
I don't want to go. Not now.
I shrug, "I don't know. Are you going?"
He sighs deeply and leans back in his seat, focusing his eyes up ahead as he replies. "I have to, I asked Mary remember?"
After the weight of the world feeling like it got dropped on my shoulders this weekend, I completely forgot he asked someone to prom. And the knowledge of it just brings an uneasy feeling dropping to the pit of my stomach.
"I forgot," I reply softly.
Hayden doesn't say anything else and we fall into silence.
---
"Holy shit I'm so nervous right now," Logan breathes as he paces back and forth in the airport.
"Logan, you literally facetime this girl five times a day. What in the world do you have to be nervous about?" Chloe asks, grabbing his arm so that he stops pacing.
He instantly places his hands on her cheeks and forcefully pulls her head close to his with his eyes wide. "Because, Chloe, we talked about doing things in bed that no man has done before. I may be a beast in the bedroom but even I get worried sometimes."
She blinks up at him and claws his hands off of her and rubs her cheeks, sending him the ever so famous stink eye.
Logan asked Vicky to come for prom and she's just now arriving, the Wednesday before prom. An odd day in the week, but I suppose flights were the cheapest this day as opposed to any other.
I laugh and walk towards Logan, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Logan. Just be excited to see-"
"Pooky Bear!"
Logan rips away from me and Chloe and I watch him sprint the twenty yards to Vicky standing there as she sets her four suitcases down next to her, opening her arms for her incoming boyfriend.
That's the thing about Vicky. She's an absolute beauty princess- does pageants and everything. She has a smoking body, absolutely beautiful features, and the most down to earth smile. And she loves Logan for every single part of him.
Logan launches himself towards her and kisses every part of her face before settling for her lips, settling his hands comfortably at her waist as he kisses her sweetly and desperately.
Once they pull apart she smiles and laughs and pulls him closer for a hug and he spins her around, sending her a smile that everyone knows is reserved for her and her only.
Chloe and I are too far away to hear what they're saying, but we can guess what words are being exchanged from the soft smiles stuck to their lips. It's clear that they are stuck in their own little world right now.
Eventually Logan and Vicky take a break from their love fest to walk to us.
I smile warmly and lean forward to hug Vicky- she's visited once before and hung out with us back then, and I really got to know and like her.
"Hey Reagan," she breathes warmly.
I smile as I pull back, "It's so good to see you, Vicky."
She hugs Chloe and they exchange the same greetings and then she's attached to Logan's side again and they fall back into their own little world.
"I give them the car ride home until they take this to the bedroom," Chloe leans over and says to me.
I snort, "I give it five more minutes until they book it to the airport bathroom."
Five minutes later, we found out just how right I was when Logan said that Vicky was feeling queasy from the flight and they would need to head to the bathroom together so that he could help her as she got sick.
Don't worry! The next chapter is going to be absolutely filled with drama, folks ;)
