Chapter 23: Chapter Twenty Two

Love, AnonymousWords: 17111

Hey guys, so your girl is an idiot and broke her foot a couple of nights ago... Luckily I have some great friends and Peyyton530 brought me her crutches so that I don't have to hop around on one foot :)

If anyone in here is big into anatomy- it was the fifth metatarsal I broke.

So because of that, this chapter is dedicated to her!

Chapter Twenty Two

I finish the last problem to my math homework, my numbers a sloppy mess after completing the entire sheet. My handwriting always deteriorates the further I get into whatever I'm writing.

I ditch my desk chair for my bed and sprawl out on top of it, my hair flying all around me as I fall down onto the mattress.

Before I'm able to get settled, my phone buzzes and I roll over to take it off of my pillow. As I unlock it, I hear Bruce and Angel start to go ballistic downstairs and then I hear a surprisingly high pitched scream.

Furrowing my brow, I get up from my bed and quickly open the door to my room and run downstairs. Both my parents had to work late so they won't be home for another hour and I don't remember inviting Chloe over, but maybe she decided to surprise me.

As I race down the steps, I try to bite back a laugh when I see Logan on the floor with both Bruce and Angel sitting on top of him. He's trying to shove them off, but they're both tubs of lard that won't move unless they want to.

His scream sounded quite high pitched.

"Logan?" I ask, bending down so that I can see him.

He looks up at me in defeat. "Hey Ray-Ray. Could you ask them to get off of me!" He yells the last part while struggling under their weight, and Bruce smacks his lips, moving so that his paw is on Logan's face. "Oh come on!" He exasperates, but his voice is very muffled.

I laugh and shoo them away, and they trot towards the living room as if nothing ever happened.

Logan stands up and wipes his shirt off as well as his face, and when he sees me he launches at me and pulls me into his arms, a smile replacing his defeated scowl.

"How is my bestest ever friend in whole entire world doing?!" He exclaims as he squeezes.

I cough and shove him away with a smile. "She's great, but why are you here?"

"I haven't seen you since four o'clock!"

"Logan, it's five."

He steps closer to me and takes my face in his hands. "Reagan, that's an entire hour," he says seriously.

I roll my eyes and take his hands off of my cheeks. "Sometimes I don't know what to do with you."

He grins and kisses my cheek, making a loud smacking noise that had me cringing for life. "Love me!"

He starts running up the steps towards my room. I sigh deeply and follow after him. I may love him, but sometimes it takes a lot of energy to be around him.

"Any news on Chloe and Cole?" I ask as I jump onto my bed.

Logan sits at my desk and spins the chair around. "Nothing yet."

Something is digging into my side, so I reach down and see my phone and the forgotten message.

Hayden: Hey, since I know you're dying to see me, come over ;) Elliot wants to see the dogs

I glance over at Logan and watch as he tries to spin himself faster and faster around in the chair and I chuckle.

Me: Dying maybe, but because of homework overload, not you

Hayden replies just a few minutes later.

Hayden: So that's a yes?

Me: Yeah, but Logan is with me so is it okay if he tags along?

Hayden: Sure

I place my phone on my chest and open my mouth to tell Logan that we are going to go to Hayden's, but as soon as I start to talk he flies out of the chair as it falls to its side.

He lands with a loud thump, and I blink at the spot he was just in.

I crawl to the edge of my bed and glance down to see if he's okay. His body is curled in a way it probably shouldn't be, but he just lifts his hand.

"I'm okay!"

---

We arrive at Hayden's mansion a short half hour later, after I got Logan ice for his ankle that he somehow twisted and had him ice it for fifteen minutes. He drove himself in his Jeep while I took my car with the dogs.

Logan's reaction to Hayden's house was outrageous- he never knew a house could be so 'magnificent,' and compared it to the castle in Beauty and the Beast.

I lead him to the basement since Hayden's parents aren't home and he was too lazy to meet us outside. Bruce and Angel trot ahead of me, already familiar from our last visit, and as I open the door I hear Elliot's voice ring out.

"Brungel!" He exclaims, sprinting up the stairs to see them.

They bark happily and start licking his face as he pets them, and he giggles as they do.

"How come I never thought of that?!" Logan whines.

Elliot pauses and glances up at him, "Who're you?"

Logan grins and kneels down. "I'm the hottest guy alive, and you?"

Elliot scrunches up his face. "If you're the hottest guy alive then what does that make me?"

Logan chuckles and nods towards Bruce and Angel. "The dog watcher of the hottest man alive?"

Elliot grins, "I like you."

"Why thank you, I like you too."

"Do you like candy?"

"Uh, does Ash Ketchum want to catch them all?" Logan rhetorically asks.

Elliot's face lights up, "You like Pokemon?!"

"I don't like it, I love it!" He exclaims. "When I was your age, I used to be the baddest Pokemon master in this town."

"No. Way." Elliot breathes, looking at Logan as if he's the God of our creation.

Boys.

"If you two are done fangirling over one another, I'll just be down here." I say, walking down the steps.

My dogs follow after me, and Logan and Elliot are close behind them.

"Hey Cupcake," Hayden greets with a beautifully cocky smile as I hop down the last step.

I send him a smile and walk towards him from where he stands next to the pool table.

"Hey," I say.

"Yo. How much money do you have, man?" Logan breathes as he slowly scans the room. "This is like my dream basement," he admits.

Hayden laughs and they do that weird bro hug thing. "My dad is pretty well off," he shrugs, glancing around. "Works out well for me."

"Pretty well off? You're loaded."

"Logan! Come see my Pokemon card collection!" Elliot exclaims from the far side of the room, where the couches and the TV are. "I'll show you my baseball cards too!"

Logan grins and starts to jog over to him, Bruce and Angel trotting after him. "Dude I love baseball! If you don't have a Charizard though, I'm not sure this whole friend thing will work," he teases.

Hayden laughs and watches them, "Well he sure is good with kids."

I roll my eyes, "It's because he is one."

"Not that day he got all threatening when I wanted you to work on the project with me."

I cringe at the memory. "That was like a month ago, before we were friends."

"According to you, a few days ago was before we were friends," Hayden smirks. "How about another game of pool? Third time's the charm," he winks, grabbing a cue from where they hang on his wall.

I snort and walk around the pool table in a way that may resemble me thinking this is my own house, and get my own cue.

"You want to lose yet again?" I ask.

He chuckles, "Normally I would argue that I never lose, but with you that doesn't seem to be the case."

I grin smugly and shrug. He's right.

"I wouldn't mind kicking Logan's ass though," he says. "Hey Logan! How about a game of pool?" He hollers to the other end of the basement.

"Hayden!" Elliot groans, "I'm showing him my Pokémon cards!"

Hayden glances at me with an amused smile and I lift my hand to my lips to hide mine. He sets his pool cue down and walks over to Elliot, kneeling down in front of his pouting brother.

"I think I just heard mom and dad get home. Why don't you go make them some snacks? They've both had a long day at work," he suggests.

When Elliot seems reluctant, Hayden presses further- but still in a gentle, brotherly way.

"Hey, it may earn you ten extra minutes on your bedtime. You could stay up until 9:10 instead of just 9," he bargains. "If you get out the chocolates for mom, maybe even twenty minutes."

Elliot's pout transforms into a wide smile and he nods, quickly hugging his brother.

"That means I can play video games with you later!" He exclaims.

Hayden chuckles, "And I may even let you win for once."

Elliot giggles and says a quick bye to Logan, promising to come back and show his card collection later.

"That seemed rather easy," I say once Elliot is upstairs.

Hayden stands back up and shrugs. "You live with someone for long enough and you start to figure out how to persuade them."

"What am I doing?" Logan asks, messing with Bruce by blowing in his face.

"He will bite you," I say.

"Nah, Bruce loves me. He would never- ah!" He shouts, pulling back as Bruce lunges forward. "He almost bit me!"

Hayden and I start laughing at Logan's disappointed and rejected pout.

"I warned you."

"Come on Logan, let me play you in pool." Hayden says, nodding towards the pool table.

Unbeknownst to Hayden, Logan and I share a secret smirk and he stands up from the couch.

"Pool? I don't know man, I'm not that good," Logan says, scratching the back of his head.

Hayden shrugs and tosses him my pool cue, left on the table. "Don't worry about it, Reagan wasn't that good either," he teases. "Winner has to-"

"Pay for the other's gas the next two fill-ups."

"That was kind of specific..."

"If there is even a small chance I win, I'd love to have my jeep filled up on someone else's dollar," Logan grins, "Then again, I legit do suck at pool..."

Hayden smirks and sticks his hand out. "Deal?"

Logan takes his hand with a nervous grimace and nods. "Sure, why not? It's just two fill-ups if I lose."

As Hayden starts to gather up the balls, Logan glances back at me and winks with a knowing smirk. I have to swallow down my laugh, and Hayden speaks up.

"So Logan, you've got a girlfriend?" Hayden asks, placing the balls in order.

He nods with a victorious smile. "Of three years. Her name's Vicky."

Hayden glances up and purses his lips. "Three years? Impressive. But she doesn't go to our school?"

He shakes his head, "Nah she's back in Nevada."

"Wow and you two are still together? That's true dedication right there," he says with a disbelieving look. "I'm not sure if I would be able to do that."

Logan smiles and shrugs, "Once you find the one you make sure to never let them go. Vicky is everything to me."

Hayden's eyes dance from Logan to my general direction, and I blame it because of the large painting behind me.

It's quite beautiful, easy to catch one's eye.

"You like her, Cupcake?"

I blink a few times to get out of my mind and nod. "Oh yeah, Vicky is sweet; a nice girl. Timid personality too, she's able to calm him down."

Logan smirks, "Sweet, innocent, and calm to everyone else but as soon as we get into the bedroom she's a wild-"

"Logan." I grimace, closing my eyes and putting my hands up. "Please don't."

Hayden is looking at Logan as if he's grown two heads, and when he shifts his attention to me he starts to chuckle.

"Is he always this open?"

I sigh deeply, "Sadly yes."

Logan places his hands up in defense. "Hey, when you've got a girl as sexy as Vicky you can't help but share the details. And with Vicky, holy hell there's always something new to share," he practically groans.

"Oh my god just play pool, please. Before he tells us any stories."

As they start to talk about Vicky, in a non-sexual way, I decide to go upstairs and get some snacks for myself since I never really made myself dinner. I haven't eaten since lunch at school, and my stomach is about to sing a song that no one wants to hear.

I reach the top of the steps and see Elliot struggling to reach some snack higher up in his pantry.

"Need help?" I ask, startling him.

He turns around and smiles sheepishly at me. "Yeah..."

I chuckle and lean down to lift him up, which proves to be a bad idea because six year olds are a lot heavier than I presumed.

Thankfully he's able to grab the chocolates off of the top shelf with my shaking arms.

"Thank you Reagan," he smiles as I set him down, only slightly out of breath.

I nod at him, placing my hands on my lower back because I think I pulled something. "No problem."

"You know, I like you coming here," he says as he grabs a bowl to put the chocolates in.

I smile, "Why is that?"

He grins, "Because Hayden is always smiling when he knows you're coming."

I smirk and raise my brows. "He is?"

I am so going to use that to my advantage if ever needed.

"You got everything from here?" I ask as I grab a bag of chips from the pantry. "Don't need any help?"

He nods, "I got it. Mom's going to love these chocolates."

I smile and ruffle up his hair, causing him to giggle and try to fix it.

"Hey Reagan?" He asks before I reach the door to the basement.

"What's up?"

"Do you like my brother?" He asks, tilting his head with wide, innocent eyes.

His question catches me off guard and I walk back to him, "Why do you ask?"

He looks down sheepishly and wrings his hands together behind his back. "Because a lot of girls seem to like him, like the ones that used to come to the door, but you're the only one who has ever met me and really liked me, and you're the only one that's come over because Hayden asked. So if you like Hayden then that means I get to see you more."

I sigh and try to process his words while reassuring him. "Lets put it this way, your brother and I are friends so you'll be seeing a lot of me, okay?"

His nervous frown turns into a smile and he nods, "Okay."

"Come back downstairs when you're done, alright? Logan is still dying to see your Pokémon cards," I wink.

I begin to walk back towards the basement, opening the doors with my bag of chips in hand. As I toss a large handful into my mouth, I overhear Hayden and Logan's conversation.

"You know, I feel slightly bad for hating you before," I hear Logan say right before slamming his cue into a pool ball- I know it hit the sweet spot from the satisfying clunk.

"You hated me too?" Hayden asks, and he only sounds slightly offended. "It wasn't only Reagan?"

"My whole friend group disliked you, especially Reagan," he explains. "But you're chill now."

Hayden pauses for a few seconds before answering. "What changed?"

"You're good to Reagan," he says softly. "And she seems to like you enough."

Hayden's voice is tense in his response, showing that he interpreted Logan's words in the wrong way. "Was someone not good to her before?"

I roll my eyes with a quiet chuckle, this is the second time he's taken something in that direction.

"Logan tell me who the fuck was hurting her so I can-"

Logan cuts him off with a small laugh, "Whoa man, no one was hurting her. I wouldn't let that happen. It's just that of all the guys for Reagan to hang around, you would be my last guess because of your reputation."

"Oh."

"But you've turned out to be a good guy. I see the way you treat Reagan and I approve, you make her happy as far as I can tell."

I blush lightly and wait for Hayden's response, and I can picture his side smirk mixed with a pleased look to his eye.

"I do?"

"Yeah, why else would she keep hanging around you?" Logan asks, sinking another pool ball, I can tell from the huff that comes from Hayden and the excited shout from Logan.

"I thought you said you sucked at pool?" Hayden accuses.

"I may or may not have hustled you," Logan hums, and I can hear the smirk in his voice.

Since I can tell their conversation about me is finished, I continue walking down the steps and make myself known. I watch as Logan sinks the last of his balls and Hayden deflates, almost every single one of his still on the table.

I smirk and walk next to Logan. He looks down at me and smirks as well, throwing his arm around my shoulders.

"I probably should have mentioned Logan is the one who taught me to play."

Hayden throws his head back as he groans, "Oh come on!"

"Plus, my dad sells pool tables for a living sooo," Logan adds.

Hayden shakes his head with narrowed eyes and mutters something under his breath. "I need to do my research before accepting bets," he mutters, throwing his pool cue down on the table.

Logan and I start laughing as Hayden stalks towards the couches, and I feel Logan's phone start to buzz in his pocket.

He checks it and his eyes light up. "Hell yes! Vicky got off of work early and is prepared to skype," he breathes, closing his eyes while he sends a quick thank you to God. "I am totally leaving. Hayden, man, you can fill my car up after school tomorrow," he winks, giving me a noogie before sprinting up the basement steps.

"Skype?" Hayden questions. "What could they possibly do over skype?"

I sigh and shake my head, "You don't want me to share the stories I've heard."

"Are you staying?" Hayden asks, sitting down on the couch with his arms spread out on the top. He sends me a smoldering, questioning look that I know is about as innocent as it can get, but it sends shivers down my spine.

I sit down next to him, "Sure."

"Good, we can finally make out," he winks.

My jaw drops and Bruce lifts his head and starts growling from his spot on the other end of the coffee table, and Hayden bursts out laughing.

"Relax, Cupcake. I was joking."

I let out a silent breath of relief while my heart starts to calm down from that surprising adrenaline rush.

"I thought I could pose for you to draw me shirtless again instead."
