Rachel felt as if her fingertips were broken, or perhaps it was the sound of her heart shattering.
Her eyes grew dim as she said, âYou treat her so well, yet she remains oblivious. Only I am aware of it.
The one who truly loves you is me.â
She was infatuated with him.
âActually, our first meeting wasnât in Arnoldâs office. The first time I saw you was three years ago.â
At that time, Arnold had decided to introduce her to Dexter. He had specifically driven her out to meet him.
During that time, he was presiding over an economic conference. The young man, although indifferent, exuded confidence and radiance. In every move he made, he possessed the potential to make any woman fall in love with him.
Rachel sat in the corner, quietly observing as he successfully presided over the entire conference. She couldnât understand the professional jargon, but she felt that such a remarkable man would inevitably be hers one day.
After the event ended, she was the last to leave. Dexter seemed to be waiting for someone and also left late. The two of them crossed paths, almost brushing shoulders as they passed each other.
Rachel still vividly remembered the moment her heart fluttered.
Arnold had promised her that she would eventually become Mrs. Russell. However, before she could learn everything and prepare herself, she found out that Dexter had secretly married an ordinary woman.
What hurt even more was that Arnold wanted her to imitate her, even to replace her.
Rachel had no choice but to undergo plastic surgery to alter her appearance, to approach him from an unequal footing. Until today, she had given her all to reach this point, but everything was over now.
She had spent such a long time, finally able to stand by his side, yet the lies were inevitably exposed, and everything turned into an illusion.
Rachel was unwilling to accept it, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at this distinguished man who had lost control because of Josie.
âDexter, Iâve put up many false pretenses, but my feelings for you are absolutely genuine, even more genuine than Josieâs feelings for you!â
Her tears fell onto the clear floor, a tile she had meticulously selected for her wedding.
She had even naively thought that after getting married, she could free herself from Arnoldâs control, prioritizing only Dexterâs interests.
Dexter remained unfazed. He lifted his leg, didnât even spare her another glance, and walked away with an air of nonchalance.
âWhy? Is it because Iâm not a daughter of the Olsen family? Why do you have to treat me like this?â
Rachel shouted hysterically and heartbrokenly.
Dexter ignored everything, and Moses quickly caught up with him. âThe housekeeper has sent a message. Ms. Warren has been found in the abandoned factory at the back of the mountain with Mark!â
âKeep a close eye on Rachel. Donât let her escape!â
Larry nodded, but afterward, he found himself in a dilemma, unsure whether he should report it or not.
âRussell Groupââ
âGet the car!â Dexter interrupted him.
Larry understood clearly and refrained from saying more.
Meanwhile, Morgan had already arrived at Olsen Residence by car.
Due to the wedding, the security at Olsen Residence was lax. He entered boldly, and the servants simply couldnât stop him. âSir, you cannot go in!â
âIâm looking for someone!â
âEven so, you canât just enter!â
Morgan could guess that Josie was inside, but he didnât know the exact location. To save time, he had no choice but to barge in.
The servant tried to stop him, but Morgan spoke up directly. âMr. Olsen is in trouble. Iâm here to rescue him. If anything happens, will you take responsibility?â
This statement stunned the servants, for they knew that Mark had indeed disappeared that day. They had searched the entire Olsen Residence but found no trace of him.
Morgan entered straightaway. Just then, his secretary, Ryan, called. He reported the location directly, âThe drone has detected someone at the back of the mountain.â
