âM-Mr. Carter⦠I donât know if she⦠sheâ¦â
âWhat about her?â Arnold asked, a sly smile appearing on his lips. He lifted the womanâs long earring with a flirtatious gesture and said, âYouâve done well. You know how to read the room.â
The woman was still trembling. âMr. Carter, I was wrong. I wonât make decisions unilaterally anymore.â
âHow long have you been at the club?â
âThree⦠Three years.â
Arnold nodded slightly, then suddenly, he forcefully ripped off the womanâs earring. She let out a piercing scream as blood gushed out.
âTake her to the seaside.â
Upon giving the decisive order, his subordinates immediately stepped forward, escorting the screaming and pleading woman away.
Blood splattered all over the corridor.
Josie trembled as she watched everything unfold in disbelief. After a moment, Mallory was also taken away. Arnold took a tissue and calmly wiped his fingers, his gaze fixed on Josie.
âWhy are you crying?â
She reached up to touch her face, only to realize she had been crying when she felt the cold and moist sensation.
âMy heart once softened at the sight of your tears. I even considered giving up everything to take you away.â He crouched in front of Josie, wiping away her tears with his fingertips. âBut now, your tears no longer affect me.â
âYou b*stard!â Josie roared.
Arnold effortlessly lifted her around the waist and carried her straight up to the penthouse suite.
âI donât expect to hear about my fatherâs whereabouts from you. Instead, Iâm more inclined to take action against Dexter.â
Josie was thrown forcefully onto the bed, causing her to bounce. She tried to escape immediately, but Arnold firmly held her in place. As his breath closed in on her, he said, âDexter is far out at sea. You wonât be able to leave tonight.â
Josie looked at him incredulously. âYou wouldnât dare.â
Arnold caught her fidgeting hands, effortlessly removing her jacket. âDo you think Dexter would regret taking my father away if he knew about this?â
With that thought in mind, he began to laugh heartily.
Josie felt a chill down her spine as if she was in the presence of a demon!
âArnold⦠please, let me goâ¦â Josie trembled uncontrollably. âI can help you. I can save your father.
Trust me. Just like you said, Dexter still has feelings for me, so he will let your father go!â
His movements didnât cease. His large hand moved around her back, resting on the clasp of her bra.
A snap rang out, triggering a tingle in Josieâs scalp.
âIâm the criminal, not Dexter,â he said. âSomeone like him would never take a life. I believe Edward will suffer a little at most, but he will keep his life. So, Iâm actually not worried that heâs in Dexterâs hands.â
As soon as these words were spoken, Josie realized what he was thinking, and she felt a wave of utter despair.
Theyâre all madmen, all of them!
Just as Arnold was about to remove her bra, his phone, which he had placed to the side, suddenly started to vibrate violently, causing him to hesitate and pause in his actions.
Josie reacted as if it was her last hope of being saved. She decisively grabbed the phone without even checking who it was and answered the call immediately.
âArnold, did you take Josie?â
Itâs Heather⦠No, itâs Rachelâs voice!
Compared to her gentle demeanor in person, her voice over the phone sounded harsher.
Arnold narrowed his eyes, staring at Josie, who clenched her teeth in defiance.
After a moment, he responded, âMmm-hmm.â
âWhy did you take her?â Rachel was very alert.
âWhatâs the matter? Afraid you canât play the role of the daughter of the Olsen family? Why the anxious questioning?â
As she listened to their conversation, Josieâs fingertips turned white from gripping the phone too tightly.
It was hard to imagine that these two people, who seemingly had no interaction in public, could have such a close relationship behind the scenes.
