The winter sunset blazed, casting an intense chill in the air.
A woman stood beneath the abandoned residential area. After a long while, she finally pushed open the door and entered. The sound startled the person inside, who looked over in disbelief. âJosie!â
However, the person she saw was not Josie, but Summer.
Summer arrived alone. She stood before Rachel, who was tightly bound, a cold and mocking smile playing on her lips.
âHow did you find me?â Rachel asked, fear evident in her eyes.
âI had someone tail Dexterâs men for a whole week before finally discovering your location. It was quite troublesome,â Summer replied indifferently. She had put in great effort to figure out the bodyguardsâ
shift patterns. Only when they had all left to eat could she take advantage of the situation.
âWhy are you here? To take your anger out on me? Where is Josie?â Rachel had waited for Josie for several days, but she had given up hope by then.
âYou truly are a fool, unable to escape your poverty-stricken mindset,â Summer said, leisurely approaching Rachel. âYou nearly got her killed, yet you still hope she will save you?â
âThatâs impossible⦠She must come and find me if she wants to know anything about Paul,â Rachel shook her head, unwilling to believe it.
âDonât delude yourself. She has already left.â
âWhere did she go?â
âWho knows? All I know is that sheâs no longer in Wavery.â Summer suddenly pulled out a knife from her pocket and pressed it against Rachelâs throat. âYou know what? Last night, Dexter was speeding on Second Highway and got into an accident. Heâs still in critical condition.â
Rachelâs eyes widened in shock. âYouâre here to eliminate me?â
âThis is a golden opportunity, so naturally, I came to silence you!â Summer pressed the knife harder.
âKeep opposing me. Iâd like to see if you still have a chance to reveal the truth!â
Overwhelmed by fear, Rachel broke out in a cold sweat. âYou canât do this! Summer, Iâve done so much for you! You canât kill me!â
âYou ruined Josie. Do you really think the Olsen family wonât seek revenge? If you betray me at that time, itâll be too late for me to kill you!â
With a forceful thrust, Summer drove the tip of the knife an inch into Rachelâs neck.
âNo!â Rachel roared. âSummer, I know where Edward is! You canât kill me!â
Summer abruptly stopped. âWhat did you just say?â
âI said⦠I said I know where Edward is!â Rachel swallowed hard. âEven if you kill me, what good would it do? The Olsen family will never be yours. Even if Josie is gone, do you think Mark would hand the familyâs assets to you? In the end, everything will still be in Lauraâs hands. What could you possibly gain?â
She spoke rapidly, fearing that Summer would continue exerting force.
Upon hearing that, Summer narrowed her eyes. âWhy should I believe you?â
âI learned about it from Dexter when I was with him. Itâs absolutely true!â Rachel looked at her. âArnold would never abandon his father. As long as you find Edward, you can undoubtedly find him too. At that time, the two of you can still collaborate. Thereâs definitely a chance to turn things around!â
Perhaps it was the fear of death that made her mind exceptionally clear.
Summer was skeptical. âIf you dare lie to meâ¦â
âNo, Iâm not lying! I swear! As long as you save me, I will tell you the lead. I still have value, donât I?
Otherwise, youâll truly be at a dead end. You need me, Summer! Instead of waiting for death, why not trust me just this once?â Rachel gently persuaded.
