Chapter 44: Chapter 44

I Never Regretted Leaving You (Can't Win Me Back)Words: 3764

Chapter 44 Should she be grateful to him?

She often wondered, if not for Nathan, what would her fate have been? Would she have remained hidden at the bottom of society, or would she have fought her way out with her unyielding stubbornness and walked down a path of success?

For a long time, she saw Nathan as her savior, revered him as though he were a god.

But now, after witnessing the hardships of life, after unconditionally supporting many helpless orphans and widows, her thoughts began to waver.

She even found herself deeply rejecting the “rescue” that Nathan had offered her back then.

Because his intentions had been self–serving, not deserving of the respect she had once given him.

He wasn’t a philanthropist; he was a fraud.

This truth was a pain that words could not express within her heart.

Divorce was imminent.

The next day.

Chapter 44 280 Voucher At the entrance of the Hill family villa.

Isabella, dressed in simple clothes and with no makeup, looked slightly haggard from having stayed up all night. She showed up unexpectedly at the Hill family’s doorstep.

But someone had arrived before her: A luxury car that is worth millions stopped at the villa’s entrance, and Victoria stepped out with several gift bags in hand.

She rang the doorbell.

The butler opened the door, his expression brightening when he saw Victoria. “Miss Moore, Madam Hill has been saying for a while that you hadn’t come by. It’s like you answered her calling!”

Victoria handed one of the gift bags to the butler. “Rita, this one is for you.”

The butler took the gift with a smile, “Miss Moore, every time you visit, you bring so many gifts. Even the servants get a share.

You’re so thoughtful.”

He enthusiastically welcomed Victoria into the house.

In the taxi, Isabella and Ava watched the scene unfold. Ava couldn’t help but comment, “Playing up to her brother–in–law’s family so hard, it’s obvious, what she’s after.”

Isabella smiled, “You’re still too young to understand love and relationships.”

Ava picked up the envelope from the car. “Sister, let me take this in for you. You don’t need to see those disgusting people.”

Nathan and his mother were sitting on the sofa when they saw Victoria. Nathan quickly stood up and walked over to her, taking the heavy gift bag from her hands.

He couldn’t help but complain, “Victoria, you really don’t need to bring gifts every time. You’re not well; how could you carry something so heavy?”

Victoria gazed at him tenderly, “Nathan, I’ve received some fine fabrics, so I made a few outfits for you and Uncle and Auntie.

The New Year is coming soon, and there will be many banquets. I want you all to look dignified when you attend them.”

Nathan’s mother put down her teacup with a sigh, “Ah, Victoria, you’re so thoughtful for Nathan. It’s a pity my Nathan doesn’t have the luck to marry you. Such a shame.”

She then gave Nathan a reproachful look, “I don’t understand what’s going through your mind. You’re the president of a listed company, yet you would marry someone like that just to repay a debt of gratitude? Look at what she’s done since your marriage –she ran away from home and disappeared without a trace... It‘ s infuriating.”

Mentioning Isabella made Nathan’s face darken.

Nathan’s mother continued, “It would be better if you just divorced her and cleaned things up.”

Chapter 44 Nathan’s tone was firm, “Mom, Isabella has done us a great favor. If I divorce her, I’ll be labeled as someone who kick down the ladder after climbing up. It will tarnish my image and hurt the company. Don’t ever say such things again.”
