Chapter 5: 4 VIP

Enemy 000Words: 12516

I spent the next day mostly hanging around and relaxing. I managed to organise my room even more considering I will be here for a longer time. Hailey and Jessica helped me with organisation and later we went to get some drinks at the bar. I also went to the gym and I was really excited to go because it usually helps me relax and I needed a lot of relaxing after yesterday. I was just watching a show on my laptop when I heard a knock on the door.

"Kat, are you leaving with us?" Hailey peeked through the door and I scrambled out of my sheets, giving her a strange look.

"Leaving where?" I asked, sincerely confused.

"To the club. It's a Saturday, honey. I told you." She says, smiling at my confusion. I suddenly remember her and Jess talked about going to a club. Apparently it's new and they couldn't wait for it to open.

"Yes, yes I want to go." I shut down my laptop and hurry over to my closet. She's already in a dress which means they must be leaving soon. "What time is it anyway?"

"I have no idea, but be fast, we'll be outside waiting in the car." She says and shuts the door.

The adrenaline of being late hits me and I rush to get dressed. I hate being late which is why I don't bother to put any makeup on except for a mascara and lipstick. I am lucky to have clear skin meaning I don't need plenty of foundation. I pick a tight dark blue dress which slides on easily and I run out of my room after grabbing my clutch. I slipped on my black sneakers, since I am not a fan of heels.

I walk out of the house and spot Hailey's car but I see Luke in the driving seat. Just as I jump into the car I notice another car behind us and Carter behind the wheel.

"I am so sorry if you guys waited long." I apologise and Luke laughs, saying it wasn't a problem.

"You are pretty fast for someone who just layed in bed for four hours." Sarah jokes, making Hailey chuckle.

"I'm watching Pretty Little Liars for the sixth time, I didn't even notice what time it was." I say, placing my clutch next to me. Luke starts to drive, leaving the resort behind us.

"Ugh, I hate that show. Too many plot twists." Sarah says, fixing her silky dress. Once again, she looks like a Tumblr girl and I become jealous of her amazing style.

"That's exactly why I like it."

Someone lets out a quiet sniff, but I manage to hear it and turn to see Jessica looking out the window, completely in her own thoughts.

"Jess, you okay?" I ask and panic rises in Sarah's eyes as she focuses on Jess as well.

Jessica slowly shakes her head before bringing up her hand and when I see her wiping her eyes I instantly know she's been crying.

"What happened, baby?" Hailey turns to face her from the front. I notice Luke shifting his eyes to look at her in the rear mirror.

"It's Mel." Jessica mumbles, bowing her head to look at her hands in her lap. Her voice is barely audible and she doesn't look at us, probably not wanting to.

"What did he do?" Sarah grabs her hand and judging by her question, I assume they're talking about a boy. I haven't touched that subject with Jess yet so this is unfamiliar for me.

"Nothing, he's just..." She stops and grabs a breath, tilting her head back so it doesn't ruin her makeup I guess. "He's so cold and it makes me feel, like I'm the only one trying, I don't know."

"Jess, you know how he is." Luke speaks, taking me by surprise. I still have no idea who they are talking about but I suppose he's a friend of Luke's.

"It's just been going on for so long I thought he'd change something." She says. I can hear it in her voice that she's been struggling with this for a longer time and it clearly doesn't make her happy.

"I know I told you already, but he does care about you, you just have to be patient, okay?" Luke assures her and she nods just as Sarah gives her a tissue.

We change the topic and maybe ten minutes later we arrive to our destination. A building on two floors is glowing with different colours and it is obvious it's a club. People go in and out and I notice the line for the entrance. It seems pretty long which worries me because I hate waiting. Luke parks on the parking and Carter stops right next to us.

"It looks so damn good." I hear Carter's comment as I exit the car. He still has his sunglasses on and my curiosity is bursting out. I stand next to him and look at the club from the side.

"If only you could see it properly through those." I click my nails against his sunglasses and he gives me a flashy smile. "Why are you wearing them anyway? It's nighttime, you know?"

"I do know. But I'm wondering if you know about this one thing." He looks at me and lowers his sunglasses, finally allowing me to see his eyes. They're light green and he looks even better when they light up and he winks at me. "It's called weed, sugar."

He clocks them back into place and smiles at me. My mouth opens a little bit, realizing I could've assumed that myself, but since I don't cross that topic often, it wasn't something I would remember myself. I giggle at him as he walks past me and I turn around to wait for the others. I almost forget about Carter's group of friends until four guys start coming out of his car. When I notice Wes, my eyes travel to the back of my brain. Probably the worst thing about our feud is the fact that he is absolutely gorgeous. I mean, with his soft hair and ocean-like eyes, girls simply can't resist him. But unfortunately, he has a mind of a fly, making him the most annoying creature on the planet.

Luke comes between the boys while Hailey, Jess and Sarah approach me.

"Coming?" Sarah asks and grabs my hand when I nod.

I let out a huff when we reach the long waiting line. It seems like it's moving quite slow and I want to protest on waiting when Sarah suddenly pulls me to the side.

"What are you doing?" I ask her and turn my head around only to realise the others are following us.

"You weren't planning on waiting, were you?" Hailey asks me from behind and I just furrow my eyebrows. When I turn back to face the front I see Carter standing by a much smaller door with a bumper who pats him on the back before opening the door for him. Carter turns around and motions for us to get inside. Once I pass the doorstep I look at Carter with confusion written on my forehead.

"Are you like VIP or something?" I ask him as we walk through a couple of rooms which only seem like storage.

"Technically, I am. We are, actually." He answers. "A friend of mine owns this place and I definitely wasn't planning on waiting in that queue."

"Wow." I breathe out and he laughs at my reaction. I have a feeling we will be visiting this club a lot more often.

After climbing up the stairs, Carter leads us to a literal booth that has a reservation sign on the table in the middle and I read Hanning which must be Carter's last name. I can't help but squeal when I feel the leather underneath my legs.

"What are you, happy about sitting?" Wes says bluntly as he sits on the other side of me. I only glare at him, choosing to ignore his words. He will not ruin this night for me.

"I ordered us shots and three bottles. We'll take some more late if needed." Carter tells us before taking off his sunglasses, hooking them on his shirt. I look around the booth and wonder if they always party like this, in VIP booths with Carter ordering everything.

"Oh, we haven't met. I'm Dave." One of the guys from Carter's group extends his hand towards me and I face him in a slight shock. He looks as if he's younger than the others, but that's probably because of his baby face.

"Oh, right." I mutter and place my hand in his. "I'm Kat."

"As in Katherine?"

"Yes." I smile and he nods. I have a habit of not introducing myself using my full name. It's not that I don't like it or anything, it's just that nobody really calls me Katherine, except for my mother when she is mad at me. And Wes, when he wants to aggravate me.

"I'm Dylan." The guy sittig next to Dave, with short dark hair, extends his hand as well. I shake his and he winks at me, throwing me off a little.

The one next to Wes doesn't give me his hand, since both of his hands are relaxed on the back of the booth, one behind Wes and the other behind Jessica.

"Mel." He offers me a lazy smile and I nod before catching Jessica's glance. She looks at me knowingly and I place my lips in a tight line. That must be her guy.

Eight shot glasses suddenly appear on our table and everyone takes one, including me, and the night starts.

The club itself is actually quite spacious but with this many people inside it, it's really crowded, making it almost impossible to walk through it. As Hailey was gifted with the weakest bladder ever, I had to go to the bathroom with her too many times. After the fourth time I sent Sarah instead of me. Pushing through those drunk bodies was far too disgusting for me.

The night went by really fast. I didn't get drunk though. I haven't tasted alcohol in a really long time so I decided to take it slow tonight. But nevertheless, I danced with the girls and even Carter, who was enjoying despite not having a drop of alcohol. It is definitely true when they say that time flies by when you're having fun.

"You alright?" Someone's voice strikes me from my thoughts and I look up from my phone. Mel enters the booth and sits down, spreading his long legs under the table.

"I'm fine, just tired." I admit, deciding to lock my phone and put it in my clutch.

"Yeah, same." Mel answers. He doesn't continue the conversation so I look away from him and onto the dance floor, where I spot Wes literally grinding against some girl. My face expression must reflect my thoughts because I hear a subtle scoff from Mel.

"What?" I ask, wanting to know why he made that sound.

"You must really like him." He says, making my eyes go wide in an instant.

"Are you insane or something? Where did your get that from?" I stare at him in horror. A smile, a very lazy smile, appears on his face.

"Relax." He smirks. "I know who you are."

"That sounds really creepy so you should probably explain." I look at him as he snickers softly.

"He told me you two are in a fight." He says. I figure he's a simple guy, clearly not bothering to explain further. He doesn't even have to, not to me at least.

"A very long fight, yes." I want to roll my eyes, but my tiredness is not letting me do that at the moment. I want to ask him about Jessica, but I know that wouldn't be right, considering we have just met.

"How long have you known him?" I ask Mel and I know he knows I'm referring to Wes.

"My whole life." Mel answers. Well, I certainly did not expect that. When I don't reply back he turns to face me and immediately reads my face expression. "He's my cousin."

"Ooh." I lean back. It seems like this entire group is very close and connected. After all, they've been friends for years, like Carter said. I just hope I'm not intruding because I know for a fact if someone new came in my group of friends, it wouldn't feel right.

Tha table suddenly wobbles when Wes comes stumbling and tries to support himself by leaning on the table. His bottle slips from his hand and the glass shatters around. To my misfortune, I was sitting too close, and when a sharp pain goes through my body, I know the glass has done its damage.

"Shit, Wes, what the hell?" I curse, making him turn to me, completely unaware of his surroundings.

"Okay, I think it's time to go home." Carter comes from behind him and grabs his shoulders, trying to steady him.

"But I want to stay here." Wes mumbles, trying to stand still, but considering how immobile he is, Carter and Mel place his arms over their shoulders and start carrying him out. I walk behind them, but stop when I notice the blood running down my leg.

"Jesus, Kat, you okay?" Hailey comes from somewhere and bends down to check out my leg.

"Yeah, yeah." I shake it off, ignoring the sizzling pain. "I just need a bandaid."

"Preferably more of them." My cousin says as she gets up and helps me push through the crowd. I try not to touch anyone with my bloody leg while attempting not to stand on it much so it doesn't bleed too much.

"How drunk can a person get?" Sarah wonders as we enter the car and drive away from the club. I covered my wound with a bandage and I honestly hope no glass got under my skin because I don't plan on visiting hospitals during my summer vacation.

"With them, you never know." Luke says, referring to the boys in the car behind us, still drunk off their asses.
