Wes Blue
The sound of my neighbor's car's engine wakes me up in the morning. I lazily dab on my eyes and slowly open them, meeting the stupid sunlight. My head does hurt, but not as much as I expected it to, and I thank myself for not drinking too much last night. I stretch my hands to the side and gradually turn my head to my right. My hand reaches the dark hair of the girl laying beside me, her face so calm and peaceful.
My favorite birthday present.
A smile creeps on my lips as I twist a small hair strand between my fingers. She doesn't budge and continues her sleep. So she's a heavy sleeper, cute.
I hesitantly get up from my bed and pick up the clothing from the floor. I fold mine and place them in the closet and then grab Katherine's red jumpsuit and hang it over my chair so it doesn't crease. I throw a look at it for a second and remember just how hot she looked in it, almost distracting me when I had to do that speech on the DJ stage last night. I place her heels next to it and then grab a pair of clean boxers for myself.
Pulling out a drawer, I take my black sweatpants and pull them over my legs. I sneak one last glimpse towards the girl in my bed before carefully and quietly exiting my room, making sure the door closes without a sound.
I walk down the stairs of my house and have to slow down when the state of my living room comes in my view.
"What the- " I look around, staring at my couch, which is covered in different stains and unknown objects. I make my way to the middle of the room, where that giant cake is still standing open.
"Shit." I curse loudly when I trip over a couple bottles laying on the floor. They make a clattering sound and I groan before picking them up.
The door across the stairs open widely and my best friend comes out of the guest room, looking no less tired than me. He rubs on his eye with his palm and catches my gaze.
"Mornin'." He mutters in a groggy voice and proceeds to walk over to me, examining the place while he walks.
"It's trashed." I say, stating the obvious. I'm more than glad we decided to remove my TV because I highly doubt it would survive last night. There were too many people, definitely more than we expected, and I'm just thankful no police was involved. My neighbors are young, so they have understanding when it comes to this stuff.
"I think nothing's broken." Adeen looks around, but his voice isn't so sure. "I think."
"Dad said everything has to be in order when they get back." I tell him, remembering the conversation I had with my father before the party.
"Yeah, we'll fix all this. The worst part will be cleaning out the puke." He makes a disgusted expression and I just scrunch up my nose. We've done this before but it seems like it's worse every time.
"What happened while I was gone?" I ask as we start collecting the objects around my living room, bottles and cups, leftover plates, jewerly and even a pair of heels. It's surprising to know what people can do when they get drunk.
Adeen huffs, as if there's too much to say, before speaking, picking up the shattered glass off the ground. I can already see he's gonna cut himself, but I decide not to say anything, he never listens to me anyway.
"A fight broke out. Some guys decided to throw a fit over a girl. Nick and I had to part them and throw them out. Little brats come here to make a scene." He spits and shakes his head. "We played beer pong afterwards, man, I can't count how many drinks I've had. Payed those three strippers and then had to deal with the guys who wanted them to stay."
"They left early?" I raise an eyebrow. Adeen did mention they were gonna stay all night.
"Yeah." He waves his hand. "One of 'em broke her heel and got pissed, so they called their driver and left."
"This one chick threw up from the stage on everyone under her. A second fight almost broke out because of that but thank God her boyfriend took her out." Adeen takes the blankets from my couch and throws them on the floor. "But that DJ, dude, what a legend!"
"Really?"
"Yeah, we really picked a good one. He got drunk with us and played some sick beats all the way until the end." Adeen says with amazement in his voice.
"So he's Adeen approved." I say just as I stumble upon a used condom and I gag, pushing it outside with my foot. I'll deal with that later, when my stomach isn't so weak.
"Hell yeah he is." My best friend laughs. "I already booked him for my birthday."
I chuckle and walk over to my curtains, examining them for any stains. Weirdly, they are as clean as they were before the party. So I move to the DJ stage and start packing up the bottles we bought for the DJ. He had his own stack during the whole night, just a little something to keep him in a good mood while he operates my party.
"And then when I sobered up I started clearing stuff out. Those people wouldn't leave if you don't kick them in the ass, literally." Adeen grumbles. "I stayed with Alex until everyo- "
"Alex?" I turn to face my best friend and he nods nonchalantly.
"Yeah, Kat's best friend." He answers and I roll my eyes, already knowing that information.
"Since when do you two hang out?" I wonder. I've never seen the two of them talk, except when Adeen's talking to Katherine.
"We don't." He replies simply. "I run into her here and then, but last night was the first time we actually talked normally."
"Talked? What? Did I miss something?" I rush to ask the questions and Adeen just throws an opened pack of Doritos at me.
"No, you idiot. She's a nice girl and she's quite funny, but nah, man, she's not my type. She's more like a female version of me and as much as I like myself, she doesn't attract me that way."
"I was just asking. You know I think she's crazy." I chuckle and he just rolls his eyes, looking down at the floor, where the snacks are now littered underneath me.
"I'll go get the broom." He informs me and walks over to the storage room.
I step over the mess he made and pick up the empty cans from the huge indoor plant my mom loves so much. I probably should've removed that too, but I was afraid it would break while carrying it. Let's just hope nobody poured something in it that could possibly hurt it. I take the sanitizer from one of the drawers and start wiping the windows, which have way too many stains and fingerprints on them. As I'm spraying the liquid, I hear footsteps from the stairs. I look up and see Katherine tiptoeing down the wood, in nothing but a shirt, my shirt. She must've grabbed one from my closet and I surely don't mind. I gulp down as she steps over the last stair and locks eyes with me.
"Hey." She smiley shyly and grabs her elbows. "Um, I'm hungry."
I place the spray on the table and put my hands in my pockets. She looks so fresh it's hard not to stare at her.
"There are some pizza leftovers from last night." I look over to the kitchen, still not knowing what state it is in. "Or I can order something for you?"
"Pizza's good." She says and I nod. She moves to walk over to the kitchen just as Adeen opens the storage room door, a red broom in his hands. He pauses as he almost collides with Katherine and she just smiles up at him, continuing her way to the kitchen.
"Hi, Adeen." She sings, humor behind her voice, and walks through the kitchen door, disappearing from my view.
Adeen doesn't move and he looks at me with confusion written all over his face.
"What the fuck?" He mouths to me and I just chuckle, turning around to the windows again.
"Katherine Banner?" Adeen is by my side in no time, whispering so the girl in the other room can't hear him. I don't know if he's mad or just surprised. "You slept with Katherine Banner and you didn't bother mentioning?"
I turn to face him but he doesn't let me.
"You two? What the -" He stops, trying to collect his own thoughts. Now I know what he feels, he's shocked above all. "How? I am so lost right now, dude. What the hell happened?!"
"Can you just calm down?" I chuckle, putting my hands on his shoulders but he removes them forcefully, like a girl creating drama.
"Nah, no way. You better speak or I'm gonna punch that shit out of you." I can't help but laugh silently at his reaction.
"There's a lot, you'll just have to be patient." I say but he pushes me.
"Ow, what the hell?" I rub my shoulder.
"You slept with your enemy and you're telling me to be ca -"
"Okay, okay." I shush him and look behind me to make sure Katherine can't hear a thing. "She was at the house as well."
"What?" Adeen widens his eyes and I roll mine. If I'm planning to tell him everything, he will have to shut up and just listen to me.
"Listen." I command and he just stands up straight.
I tell him everything, making sure to shorten it. I tell him how we avoided each other the first couple days and how we fought like usual. And then I told him how I noticed something about her, something that I wanted to have, and that was her body, her lips and her hips. She completely mesmerized me and I ignored our feud, trying to get to her and flirt my way into her pants. And then we ended up together, one night, and after that, I started getting confused because it didn't turn out how I wanted it. I wanted her again and I couldn't bring it to my head that that was supposed to be a one night stand. So we made a deal, in which there would be no commitment, only loyalty and benefits. And it was the best fucking time I've spent with a girl. However, I ruined it all, because the one thing I tried to avoid happened. I caught feelings.
"You're an ass." Adeen comments after patiently listening to my story. "She didn't deserve that, man."
"I know, fuck, I know." I rub my temples, getting frustrated as someone actually says that to my face.
"You gotta apologize." He tells me and I just throw him a blank stare.
"You think I didn't already? How do you think she ended up in my bed again?" I whisper and point to the kitchen door.
"Don't fuck it up again." Adeen tells me. "Look, if you're serious about his whole liking her stuff, then you have to think straight and not hurt her again."
"You know neither of us knows what to do with these kind of things?" I raise an eyebrow at him. What I'm saying is true. We're both players and we never really cared what girls thought of our actions, but for me, I only care about one girl right now.
"True." Adeen shrugs. "But that girl right there can actually stand up to you and put you in order. She's definitely the best you've ever had, so you shoud figure something out."
My best friend winks at me before walking outside on my terrace. I follow him with my eyes before pulling a hand through my hair. He told me what I only had to confirm, she really is the best I ever had and I shouldn't mess that up.
I leave everything and walk over to the kitchen, peeking through the opening before fully stepping inside. Katherine has her back turned to me, her hair cascading down her back as she sits on the kitchen island and swings her legs forwards and backwards. She has a whole pizza box on her lap and I try not to laugh at her.
I walk around the island and stand in front of her, taking the box away from her lap. She stops munching and raises an eyebrow at me.
"Who told you you can take that away from me?" She asks through a mouthful and I just smirk at her.
"I payed for it, didn't I?" I say and she just rolls her eyes, a habit she does numerous times in a day.
"Adeen didn't know?" She wonders, gulping down the last piece of pizza.
"Neither did Alex, right?" I lift an eyebrow, causin her to smile gently. I position myself between her legs place my hands on her bare thighs.
"How are you feeling?" I ask, tracing several patterns on her soft skin. I can see her tense up and I smile to myself. I love the reactions that I get from her, knowing it's because of me.
"I didn't drink that much, so no headaches today." She answers, licking her fingers.
"Do your legs hurt?" I ask and notice she immediately blushes. I have to bite my lip so I don't laugh at her reaction.
"I mean from the heels." I quickly correct myself, just in case, so she doesn't punch me. If there's one thing I've learnt, it's that girls don't take sex jokes well on the morning after. So I don't fuck with that, even if it's Katherine, who definitely isn't that sensitive.
"Nah." She shrugs and glances down at her feet. "They just annoyed me."
"You look good in them." I tell her. I know how open she gets around me and I know I can cause her shyness, but she still tries to cover it up with scoffs or eye rolls, like she's trying to right now.
"I know." She scoffs.
"You didn't go back to the party last night?" She asks and I shake my head, placing my hands on her ass to pull her closer to me.
"I fell asleep pretty fast." I tell her and gaze into her brown eyes.
"Are you sure Adeen took care of everything?" She points behind her towards the living room, not knowing he's outside. "He looks hungover as fuck."
I smirk at her smart mouth. Her swearing makes me want her even more, and it definitely fits her well, despite what I tell her. In some way, it makes her hotter.
"He did. He also took care of your best friend." I tease and she widens her eyes.
"What? What happened?" She asks, curiosity evident in her eyes.
"Oh, nothing." I shrug, turning my head to look behind her shoulder. "Let's just say she was pretty flustered when she walked out of the guest room almost naked."
Katherine practically stops breathing, and I have to bite the inside of my cheek to try and be serious. She studies me for a while before she forms a fist and hits my chest, hard. I wince and place my hand on the spot she hit, damn, where did she learn how to punch like that? If I was a girl, that would hurt like hell.
"You're lying, you asshole." She glares at me and I chuckle, leaning back into her. Her scent pulls me in and I dip my head into her neck. Her hands instantly go around my neck and I wrap my arms around her waist.
"Can I ask you something?" Her voice is barely audible and I nod in her neck, not wanting to move away from the warmth of her skin.
"Do you regret all the nights we slept together?"
I pull away with my eyebrows furrowed. She doesn't meet my eyes, and tries to focus on the white tiles of my kitchen. She thinks I regret it? If there's one thing I was thinking, it was that she is the one to regret all of this, even last night. It never crossed my mind that she thought that I regret it all. I certainly don't, not even the slightest. But then again, I know why she's skeptical, I did say it to her face.
"No." I reply sternly, taking her chin gently, making her to look up at me. "I don't regret it."
I see her expression change fron worry to relief, but there's still a hint of doubt crossing her eyes.
"I told you I care about you, Katherine. You've really made me bend all my rules about girls." I tell her, sounding more than confident. I trace my thumb across her jaw and tilt my head at her.
"Don't you miss it? The one night stands." She mutters, continuing to look shy. I like how her walls fall when she's with me, but it bothers me how she's so doubtful of everything I say to her, all the points I've tried to prove.
"No." I say once again, this time even more sure of my answer. "Not when I can have the best of them all."
She smiles softly at my words. I mean what I say, every compliment and statement. I want her to know that.
"I know it's hard for you to beileve and understand me, but I'm trying. I don't really know how to make you trust me enough. I'm not good at this stuff."
"I do trust you. Probably more than I should." She speaks and I find myself being stunned by those words. "I just have no idea what I'm getting myself into."
"We'll work this out." I tell her, lifting her chin even closer to me, grazing her lips with mine. She closes her eyes at the touch and sighs quietly.
"How do you plan on doing that?" She asks.
I look at her with my full attention. She's scared, scared that I would hurt her again. Whether she wants to admit it or not, I did hurt her and she definitely has a pang of doubt in her. Katherine might be cold, but there's no use in denying how muh she changes around me and for me. The fact alone that we stopped fighting and started sleeping together, caring for one another, proves just how much we've both changed for each other. She might make me express my feelings and maybe I'm in fear of showing them, but I know for a fact I've never had a connection like I have with this incredible girl.
"Date me."

OKAY SO.
This book is finally finished, 43 chapters and plenty hours later, I'm finally able to press the completed button. I'm really glad the book went with the flow I wanted and didn't swerve any way. I really hope you guys liked it and trust me, if you have any suggestions or criticism, don't hesitate to tell me. Just like our Wes and Kat are new to this, so am I. This is the first book I've ever fully published and I'm still concerned if it's a good one.
I love it, so I hope you do too.
And don't worry, there WILL BE A SECOND ONE! I wouldn't leave a book on such a cliffhanger. I'm excited to share these two's story and my writing skills. Share with friends and thank you for coming this far.
Love, M.
