Chapter 42: 40 Boys

"But wouldn't you die?" Alex chuckles at the photo I showed her. It's a photo of Carter and I doing some yoga pose neither of us actually know how to perform. Apparently, both Cindy and Alex decided to scoop through my gallery and find out who Carter is.

"No, I wouldn't." I tell her, taking another lick of my ice cream. "I told you, he's taken."

"Bitches can sure try holding on to that one." My best friend says while looking at a photo of him.

"Sarah's not a bitch." I scoff.

"Who's Sarah?"

"His girlfriend."

"Well then, Sarah can sure try holding on to that one." She retorts and I just roll my eyes.

My mother is due to come out of the hospital in three days. I was beyond happy when I heard those news. I can't wait to cook with her and watch movies with her. She hasn't really missed anything, but she surely wasn't here for some things, and I can't wait to make up for that. I decided to take the girls out for an ice cream to celebrate.

"Are there any other cute guys you know?" Cindy wonders, throwing the paper wrap of her ice cream in a nearby trash can.

"Um, most of them are taken." I say, thinking of Mel and Luke. "There's Dylan."

"Sounds hot." Cindy says.

"Isn't that the dude who stole that other guy's girl?" Alex asks me, recalling the situation when Dylan was trying to be with Dave's girl. I told her about it the other day. I nod my head and she scoffs.

"Fucking dumbass. Pass." She continues searching through my gallery.

"You never told me if you caught someone?" Cindy wiggles her eyebrows and I stop eating my ice cream. I love Cindy and she's a sweetheart, but she has a big mouth. If I told her about Wes, that gossip would fly around New York faster that a bird on steroids.

"Nah, nobody really."

My thoughts swirl through my memory and suddenly something flashes in the back of my mind.

I've never had someone fall into my arms.

I widen my eyes as the memory becomes a clear picture in front of my eyes, those dark eyes and that strong cologne. I knew there was a piece missing from that night when I first got drunk and fainted. That low voice and sweet murmurs in my ears are now becoming more clear and it's not in the fog anymore. As I try to remember as much as I can from that night, Wes's words now become more understandable.

That guy from the club won't even think about getting you now.

And in a second I remember everything, how that stranger kissed me, touched me and felt me, almost everywhere, behind that corner near the bathrooms. I remember his hungry eyes and strong arms. Why didn't anyone tell me about that? One of my friends must've seen us because I don't remember anything after that, so I assume I have fainted then.

"I did hook up with someone." I voice out my realization. My two friends widen their eyes at me. "But I have no idea who he is. I was trashed that night."

"You actually got drunk?" Cindy laughs, not believing me.

"Yeah, and fainted."

"What? Like for real?"

"Real." Alex smirks at me. "The bitch got drunk without me. Talk about a fake ass friend."

"Your vocabulary is splendid these last couple days." I tell her and she shrugs. Alex isn't the one to play nice, and she's always been a badass, and that includes her brilliant choice of words.

"How long would you last without swearing?" Cindy gazes at Alex.

"Why are we talking about me?" She points at herself, getting frustrated, before turning to me again. "Go on. Finish your boy story."

"There's nothing to tell if I can't remember." I smile smugly and my best friend shows me the middle finger.

"So no sex?" Cindy asks and I chuckle. Alex just sends me a secretive glare, shaking her head at the same time.

"Nope."

"Damn. You must be dry." Alex mutter and I hit her with my fist.

"Look who's talking." I mock her.

"I'm picky, what can I say?" She slumps her shoulders. She hasn't had someone for over three years and the last boyfriend she had was an asshole, so she's obviously picky for a reason. And unfortunately when it comes to her crush, he just might be the same when it comes to girls.

"Picky as in if it's not Adeen Zynaki then I don't want him." Cindy chuckles and Alex grabs a piece of her hair, tugging it lightly.

"You little monster. I still can't beileve I told you that." She rolls her eyes at her.

"I won't tell." Cindy whines, fixing her brunette hair. "But I still need your permission to play matchmaker."

"No." Alex raises a finger warningly. "I said no."

"Unfortunately." Cindy pouts, sad that she's unable to do her magic in creating new couples. We lapse into silence as the three of us get lost in our own thoughts.

We always come to the same park, a small one that's quite far from traffic, which is rare and hard to find in New York. It's a round grass filled place, with trees surrounding the small playground made for kids. It's peaceful and a great change to the urban life in our city. Living in the suburban area of such a huge and popular town may seem like a nightmare to some people, but I've gotten used to it and my entire childhood is here. I'm certainly planning on staying and building my own family here.

"Wait." Cindy says suddenly, whirling her head towards us. "We are going to Wes's party, right?"

"Wes's party?" Alex wonders and I have to tighten my fists so I don't blurt something about my conversation with Wes on Wednesday.

"It's his birthday!" Cindy spreads her hands as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.

"Yeah, right." Alex rolls her eyes, mimicking my reaction.

"I'll let you bring your gloves. And Kat can bring handcuffs or a knife." Cindy ushers us but all she gains are two humored laughs.

"I doubt it's gonna be a kinky party, Cin." Alex says through her laughs and the brunette just glares at her.

"Alex, it's serious. It's gonna be huge. Adeen's hosting it."

Alex stops laughing and her expression is something between annoyance and regret. Probably because her immediate thoughts are the wishes to actually go to that party.

"Of course he is." Alex growls lowly, staring at the floor underneath her. Then she turns to me so slowly it's probably painful for her.

"How about this?" She starts and I instantly stop her, placing my hand over her mouth.

"Don't you dare say it." I warn her and she mumbles something into my hand before her tongue meets my skin and her saliva covers my palm. I groan and pull away, wiping my hand on her shirt.

"We can just stop by. We don't have to be long." Alex rushes to offer, as if I'm about to stop her any moment.

"Yes, yes." Cindy smiles, looking pleased with Alex's agreement. "And Kat, I'll make sure Wes is never around you."

I tilt my head at her. Oh, if only she knew.

"Just thirty minutes." Alex continues to push and I have to prevent myself from cussing at her for changing sides so quickly.

"Just so you can see him?" I say, a little calmer, refering to Adeen.

"Please." Alex tries to make a puppy face.

"Fine." I groan and they both jump at me, squeals of happiness erupting from their mouth.
