I won't bore you with details of how I chose my outfit for the date. Let's say Rose won't pick up my calls for the rest of the evening and I have a lot of clothes to fold once I am back from the date. I settled on a flannel button down with my blue jeans and threw on my favorite red sweater.
When I heard the doorbell at 4:55 PM, I was so nervous and excited at the sane time. I felt strangely calm when I opened the door and looked at my boyfriend. The one who was taking me on a real date. I have been skeptical of relationships and made fun of my friends when they were love-sick but look at me now!
It's like I was trapped in a city of love epidemic and voluntarily got infected. You would think these cheesy lines too, if you take a good look at the guy waiting at the door.
If you have come this far, you would know Dean wouldn't disappoint us in the looks department. I was a little shocked to see a hint of nervousness in his face and I felt so glad to find that I had that effect on him too.
He looks cute with a carton of eggs in his hand. Wait. Did they change the rule about the gifts you give before the date? And no one thought of telling me?
"Baby, you look good. Are you ready for the date? Here, take this first". He gave the carton of eggs to me.
"Dean, don't take this the wrong way. I am not sure which website you got your idea of gifts from, they might not be legit".
He laughed out loud and I loved that sound. "I noticed that you used up all the eggs while making breakfast today so I thought of restocking. But I love how your mind works. Sorry, I didn't get you flowers. I knew I missed something".
I was touched that he remembered such a trivial thing like that. "Don't be sorry. I was just kidding. I love this more than the flowers. Do you want to come in?"
"Do you mind if we leave right away? I don't want us to be late".
"Late? Are we going to watch a movie? Can you please give me a hint?"
"No, we aren't going to a movie. I don't want to spoil it. Come on, baby. Let's go!"
"Fine. Don't ask me to wear a blindfold though" I said with a sigh.
"Not now, may be later" He winked at me and I slapped his hand wondering how my mind got so dirty so soon.
We took his car and soon we were driving away from the city. There was a small hill on the outskirts and I never went there till now. Dean stopped and parked his car in a clearing near the top of the hill.
"The sunset here is wonderful. I come here often just to watch it. I wanted to watch the sunset with you from the moment I saw you. I have never brought anyone else here. Please tell me if you don't like it or if it feels boring. We can go to a movie or something like that. God! I should have planned better. It's not so exciting, is it. It felt so romantic in my head, geez"
I was awestruck. It was the most romantic moment and I had to do something before he lost his senses from all the rambling.
I closed the distance and pressed my lips to his. He was shocked for a second but then he started kissing back. My eyes closed as if they were told to do so.
I don't want to use the clichéd firework analogy but it feels wrong not to. I could swear I felt some electricity at some point.
His lips were soft and demanding. It was everything I could ask for in a kiss. My hands had a mind of their own and sneaked up to his neck. And I felt his hands on my sides holding me so closely.
He tasted like cupcakes and cotton candy. I didn't know how he pulled off that combination but if someone could, it would be him.
I lost it when he licked my lower lip. I might have made some sound which brought us back to this world. He backed away a little bit but didn't let go of me.
When I opened my eyes, he was looking at me with hooded eyes and I blushed like there was no tomorrow. I blamed it on the cold weather. But it was hot there for some reason.
"Um, that was, well, amazing. Was it ok for you?" He was adorable that I wanted to kiss him again.
"Ok for me? Who asks something like that after a kiss?" I couldn't meet his eyes for some reason.
"Baby, this is all very new to me. Please tell me if anything is wrong".
"Dean, stop. Nothing is wrong. You are a good kisser. Now let's watch some sunset that is supposed to be so beautiful".
"Sure, boss. What will you do if I tell you that I suddenly don't want to watch the frigging sunset and I have found some better way to kill the time?"
I blushed harder, if it was even possible. "Will you stop it? Don't distract me. I don't want to miss the sunset"
"It's sunset, baby, not a shooting star. Anyway, I am glad I have that effect on you"
I punched his arms and wished that my flustered state was not so obvious. He smiled and held my hands.
The silence was comfortable and the sunset was as beautiful as he promised. But it was only the second highlight of the evening after that kiss.
A/N: Did I choose the right book cover or what? I had this chapter in my mind for the cover :)
Do you prefer sunset or sunrise? I like both. Watching sunrise/sunset is one of the most beautiful experience on this Earth as far as I am concerned. And watching it in a beach? Heaven, right there :)
What is YOUR idea of spending time with nature?
