Arron's POV
I bit off the head of the vampire without a second thought. Another vampire snuck behind me and jumped on my back, making me stumble. I felt him make a large scratch making me whimper slightly. I quickly recovered and twisted my neck, grabbing him by a foot. Making sure that I bit hard enough to cause some damage. I threw him off my back, hearing the hard 'smack' as he fell on the floor.
Without losing another second, I jumped on top and bit down hard, successfully decapitating the hideous creature. I looked and spotted from my peripheral vision that Daphne was fighting a girl and a guy. She was just about to kill the girl when I saw that the guy attacked her from behind. I seethed with anger and went in their direction. I saw him throw her to the ground with a punch. She stayed down.
Get up Daphne get up! You'll get killed!
He went for another punch but I pushed him off Daphne before he could. He fell but, quickly got up. It's now that I noticed that he only had on arm. I felt a wolfy grin start to creep up my face as I guessed who was the person that did that. I shot at him, biting his arm, swinging him to the ground. I then decapitated him with ease.
I instinctively turned toward the direction I saw Daphne and saw she had succeeded her kill. I saw her eyes spot me, flickering to the vampires decapitated head on the ground, and back to me. She gave a nod of thanks and turned around.
I didn't have a chance to see where she went next as I was surrounded by five blood suckers. I growled loudly and shot at them. I hit them left and right, biting them hard so it slowed them down and finished them. I got a couple scratches and bruises but was otherwise fine.
'Mate. Let's find mate. We said we wouldn't be too far from where she would be, I have a feeling something bad is going to happen.' Blake said urgently.
'Yes, lets go to her in case she needs help. I can't have anything happening to her.' I replied as I saw I couldn't spot Daphne.
Just as I was starting to move, three vampires came to me in their vampire speed. I stood my ground and waited until they got closer to attack. They came at me at the same time, making my attack easier. I lunged at them, jumping in the air. I hit them hard, making them fall back from the impact. I rolled as I hit the ground, landing on my paws. I shot at them again but, one managed to grab me and throw me to the ground. I felt the hard impact and the piercing pain. I felt them both jump on me and that's where I had enough. I needed to get to Daphne.
I hit them with all my might, ending them quick. I took this time to turn back to my human form, quickly slipping my clothes on. I ran in the direction I felt the mate connection the strongest.
Along the way, I felt a sharp pain in my abdomen. I looked down in confusion. It finally clicked that it wasn't my pain that I was feeling but, Daphne's. I noticed that everything was quiet now and there was no more fighting.
They were all staring in one direction and I knew I needed to go there to find Daphne. I ran there so fast I swear I almost flew.
I saw a figure on the ground and shouted, "Daphne!"
I felt the tears start to come out of my eyes and let out a cry when I reached her.
"No don't you dare leave me, I just go you back," I said, now sobbing.
She started to cough, blood coming out I felt some of the hot, red, liquid land on me but, all I was worried about was my beautiful dying mate in my arms.
"No baby, you're okay, you're fine, please hang on," I pleaded as I sobbed louder.
She gave me a small painful smile and said, "I-I just want to say I-I'm sorry and I l-love you."
My heart clenched at her words. Oh god, she's saying it like she's saying goodbye. No, I can't lose her. I love here so damn much its insane.
I saw her cough up more blood and saw her eyelids start to droop.
"No! Don't you dare close those eyes! I love you too!" I yelled at her worriedly.
I saw her slipping away from me so I grabbed her in my arms and got up.
"Somebody help!" I yelled as I started running towards the pack doctor.
I saw some people from my pack react, going ahead to warn the doctor. Once I reached the doctor, they already had a bed ready and asked me to set her down. Then they asked me to leave as they treated her.
I sat down on a chair and put my head in my hands. I Arron, mate of Daphne, couldn't protect her. I promised her that she would be okay. And now look at where she is. In the fucking emergency room, dying. I'm such a failure. A pathetic excuse for a mate.
I saw Luke, Ben, and Kat enter and go towards where I am. Luke and Ben gave me encouraging pats and they shook their heads.
"It's not your fault," they say said in unison, knowing what I was thinking.
These guys know me too well. I stayed silent, looking down at the ground.
"How, h-how is she?" I heard Kat's small voice ask.
I looked up and saw her tear brimmed.
" I don't know," I replied hoarsely.
After what felt like countless hours but were really only a couple minutes, the doctor came out. I quickly stood up and walked up to him.
"She is now stable, luckily, the knife didn't protrude any important organs but, she did lose a lot of blood. I'm sorry to say but, there's only bad news now. There's a substance in her blood that we cannot extract..." the doctor trailed off.
I felt my heart drop.
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"It means, that she only has about twenty minutes tops left, I'm sorry Alpha" he said with pity written all over his eyes.
"Can I see her?" I asked stiffly.
He nodded and that's all it took to go past him. I went into the room and saw a very pallid, still girl lying on the bed. I slowly went up to her and grabbed her hand. Cold. Lifeless. That's how it felt.
I felt the tears start to come out again. I can't lose her.
"Oh Daphne, please don't leave me," I whispered.
I heard shuffling by the door. I turned to see Kat, Luke and Ben looking at me and Daphne. I saw the all with tears of their own.
"Is she gong to be okay?" Kat asked wobbly.
I turned away and only managed to shake my head. I cried harder, feeling as though I was going into hysteria.
"I think I know who might be able to help," Kat said.
I whipped my head towards her and quickly asked, "Who?"
Minutes later, Zander came through the door. He froze at first but, broke out of it when Kat spoke.
"The elixir, you said it was immune to vampires right?"Kat asked.
Zander nodded and looked towards me. I finally caught on to what they were implying and I growled.
"You can't turn her. She won't survive it, she's too weak with her wound" I said pointedly.
"There's no other way, times running out," Zander answered.
I shook my head stubbornly. There has to be another way.
"Look, I don't want to lose one of my best friends and I'm sure you don't want to lose your mate either," Zander said.
"Please, for Daphne," Kat pleaded.
I sighed and nodded, I just can't lose Daphne. We have to try. I stepped aside as Zander neared her. I saw him bend down and sink his teeth into her. I held back a growl as I just looked. She didn't even move as he bit her, she just stayed still. Looking lifeless.
He got up and we waited impatiently. Just as I was losing the last strand of hope, I saw her eyes start to flutter. I saw her beautiful green eyes, brighter than ever...
