âMr. Joseph, what do you want?â Kathy suppressed her anger and asked patiently.
âSit down,â Joseph ordered.
Kathy pressed her lips, standing motionlessly.
âIf you want to know any latest news about Jaydon, you must stay here with me.â
Kathy turned to look at the man. After a long while, she sat back down.
Joseph was dealing with the documents. He had a lot of duties. Besides seeing the patients, he would do other jobs at the same time. He even had to squeeze the time to break every day.
Time passed by. After talking business with Alberta, Kathy gradually felt sleepy.
She hadnât had enough sleep in the past few days. The temperature in Josephâs office was just right and it was very quiet. Kathy felt that her eyelids became heavier and heavier...
After reading a report, Joseph looked up, only to find Kathy titled her head while leaning against the sofa, facing him.
Right then, she didnât look so aloof as usual. Her outlines were softened.
His tightened face was relaxed slightly as well. Putting down his report, he approached her step by step. Then he stopped one meter away from her.
âKathy...â
His mutter was still full of doting as it was before.
Kathy didnât wake up until two hours later. She rubbed her eyes and suddenly widened them.
She wondered when she had fallen asleep.
And... she was sleeping on Josephâs lap.
She screamed and sat up, turning to look at Joseph, who looked a bit surprised with a slight frown.
âYou...â Kathy was about to question him. From the corner of her eyes, she saw the notebook in front of him. She couldnât utter any sound at all.
She met a group of doctorsâ gaze.
It turned out that Joseph was in a video conference.
Immediately, she turned around and cast a glance at Joseph. Then she lay prone down and hid from the camera.
âLetâs call it a day. Dismiss.â
After finishing his words, he immediately turned off the camera.
Kathy had been blushed already and didnât dare to look up.
âJoseph, how come I was sleeping on your lap...â she asked in embarrassment.
The man leaned against the sofa lazily. Slightly looking down, he faintly curled up his think lips.
âYou crawled to me yourself,â he said calmly.
Kathy was speechless and confused.
The sofa was quite huge. Originally, Kathy was sitting on the farthest side from Joseph and there was a several-meter distance between them.
How could it be possible?
âAre you kidding me?â she snapped in anger.
âIâm quite busy. I donât have time to kid you.â
âDo you have any news about Jaydon?â Kathy didnât want to continue that topic with him.
She sat up and stretched her waist.
Joseph looked at her ruby earlobes, smiling more deeply. However, he quickly hid it.
âYeah, heâs been rescued.â
âReally?â
Joseph nodded.
Kathy immediately pulled out the cell phone. She tried to connect with Jaydon online, but still, she couldnât get through.
She looked at Joseph expectantly. The latter said in a flat tone, âThe telecommunication hasnât recovered in the North Pole yet.â
âI see. Will he come back shortly?â
âHe hasnât finished his research and development work yet.â
âItâs so dangerous over there. Is the work more important than human lives?â Kathy was so angry. Jaydon was in danger once, and she didnât hope him continue with the current research and development.
âMs. Kathy, itâs Jaydonâs own choice,â Joseph said indifferently.
Looking at the man in front, Kathy felt that she didnât know him at all.
How could he be so cold-blooded? How could he be like this?
He wasnât the Joseph she used to know indeed.
âHave you asked about his opinion? Itâs too dangerous in the North Pole now. Even if you want to research and develop something, you canât ignore the human lives.â
âIf he requests to come back, Iâll give him the permission.â
âI want to contact Jaydon.â
âMs. Kathy, do you still think yourself my wife?â Joseph looked at her leisurely, and his tone was still indifferent.
Upon hearing his question, Kathy was startled.
That was true. She was asking Joseph for help now, but she had been used to relying on him before. Her attitude to him had been impacted.
âIâm sorry. Iâm just worried about Jaydon too much.â Kathy looked away awkwardly.
âDo you like him?â Joseph suddenly asked.
Kathy looked down. She couldnât admit that she like Jaydon, but she had been seeing him seriously. Even if they couldnât be lovers, they were friends.
No matter what, she couldnât rest assured as long as something had happened to him.
However, upon hearing Josephâs question, Kathy didnât know how to answer for a moment.
âIs this question so difficult for you to answer? Youâve been together already, havenât you? Does that mean that he was not the man in your heart?â
Josephâs tone sounded leisurely and casual.
His deep gaze seemed to have seen through Kathy already.
âOf course, I like him.â without looking at Joseph, Kathy answered awkwardly.
âThis project would last at least three months. He wouldnât come back until the research and development are accomplished.â
âWhat? Three months? That long!â Kathy was shocked.
âThere will always be dangers over there. Can you change the project location?â
âMs. Kathy, this is a decision that the senior executives of our hospital have made long ago. It was confirmed after a six-month estimation. Just after listening to you, should I give up the whole project?â
Kathy looked at the man in front and she couldnât find the words to retort for a moment.
âI didnât ask you to obey my words. I said it for the sake of the scholarsâ safety.â
âIn my opinion, the North Pole had increased the entire protection. There wouldnât be a big danger.â
âWhat if in case...â
âYou know what, Kathy?â Josephâs tone suddenly became tender. He gazed at her deeply and said, âI truly donât like to see you care about another man so much.â
Kathy was slightly taken aback. Meeting Josephâs deep eyes, she said a bit awkwardly, âHeâs my boyfriend.â
âJoseph, I hope you are not purposely against him, are you?â Kathy suddenly asked.
After all, Jaydon had told her before that this project started so suddenly and he was surprised as well. Then he set off to the North Pole shortly.
Joseph pressed his thin lips without answering her, his eyes sharp.
Kathy, however, misunderstood that he acquiesced. She was angrier. Standing up, she was driven by the fury, and she lost her mind.

âYouâve gone too far, Joseph. How could you do it...â
âMs. Kathy, do you think yourself so important in my heart?â Josephâs question interrupted her.
Kathyâs face became pale. She immediately shook her head.
Of course, she hadnât thought so.
However, she was still wondering the purpose that Joseph had done it.
Undoubtedly, Jaydon was one of the most excellent talents in the Boston Hospital. Joseph wouldnât waste such a talent.
However, Joseph had transferred Jaydon to the North Pole so suddenly...
âIf you hope I could transfer him back immediately, you should know what to do. Since you are not important in my heart, do you think I would help you out for no reason?â Joseph finished his words and took a sip of coffee. He emanated a noble temperament that distanced himself from others.
Kathy frowned and looked at him. Suddenly, she recalled his aggressive eyes full of desire when they were in his apartment last time.
