Chapter 9 Auri And Her Secrets Finished Worried that Mabel might be anxious, Aurelia quickly asked, “Which hospital is it? I’ll head over right now.”

After Mabel mentioned the hospital, Aurelia hung up the phone.

Looking at her family before her, she uttered apologetically, “There are some matters I need to attend to. Old Mrs. Quigley needs me, so I’ll return in a few days once I’m done.”

Phyllis and the others had all heard about Mabel, who was a friend of their neighbor in the countryside, Hannah.

After Aurelia left, Phyllis let out a sigh. “The Leedon family probably hasn’t been treating Auri well. As her mother, how could I not notice the changes in her? She’s keeping secrets, not wanting us to worry.”

Xavier was always composed. After a moment of contemplation, he said, “I will spend more time chatting with Auri these next couple of days.”

“I should also pay more attention to Auri,” Charlie added.

Herbert was a high school student, full of youthful vigor. “If the Leedon family dares to bully Aurelia, I will fight them to the end!”

Aurelia arrived at the hospital quite swiftly.

Seeing Mabel anxiously waiting in the corridor, she quickly walked over.

Upon learning of a horrific multi–car collision on the overpass, where more than a dozen vehicles had crashed into each other, it was reported that one car was crushed by an overturned oil tanker. Tragically, all the occupants of that car were killed instantly.

The individuals from the several cars that collided with each other were almost all injured and were immediately rushed to the hospital.

Seeing Mabel so heartbroken at the moment. Aurelia thought Matthew was seriously hurt.

“Grandma, don’t worry, Mr. Quigley will definitely be all right,” Aurelia reassured gently.

Mabel nodded, her eyes brimming with tears.

Under her soothing, Mabel’s emotions had calmed down considerably.

As soon as Mabel saw Matthew come out, she hurried over to ask, “Matthew! What did the doctor. say?”

She then looked up and down anxiously, fearing that something had happened to Matthew.

Patiently, Matthew replied, “All the necessary tests have been done, and the doctor said there’s nothing to worry about. Please rest assured, Grandma.”

“That’s a relief! That’s a relief!” Mabel finally felt at ease. Suddenly, she thought of something and grabbed Aurelia hand, saying to Matthew, “As soon as Auri received my call, she rushed over here. You two just got your marriage certificate and haven’t even had your wedding yet, and you had a car accident. Look at how frightened Auri is. You should quickly take Auri out for a meal to calm her nerves.”

“Grandma, I-“Aurelia wanted to say that she wasn’t frightened.

She wasn’t worried about anything happening to Matthew. Her concern was for Mabel.

But before she could finish her sentence, Mabel interrupted her, winking as she said, “I’m old, and this trip to the hospital has worn me out. I want to go home and rest properly. You two should hurry on.”

When Mabel heard about Matthew’s car accident, she was worried and scared. But then, seeing that nothing happened to Matthew, she would definitely seize the opportunity for them to spend time together. Feelings have to be nurtured!

Then, with a chuckle, she said to Aurelia, “If you find calling Matthew ‘Hubby‘ too mushy, you can just call him Matthew.”

With a slight raise of his austere eyebrows, Matthew said, “Grandma, you should return to the Quigley residence first.”

Mabel knew she couldn’t say too much or press too hard, so she decided to leave first with the butler.

Seeing that Mabel had already left, Aurelia then said to Matthew, “Mr. Quigley, you must still have matters to attend to, so I won’t disturb you any further.”

Gordon’s eyes widened once again. “H–How could you possibly know that, Ms. Shaw?”

“Would you believe me if I said I was guessing, Mr. Zeller?” Aurelia asked, her eyes curving into a smile as she playfully countered.

Being reincarnated wasn’t without its advantages. She could then perceive the aura emanating from these antiques more clearly, thereby deducing some aspects of their past.

However, such matters were too mystical to be believed if spoken about.

Aurelia knew that Gordon would not easily believe.
