He raised his hand high and was about to strike Aurelia.

Aurelia glanced at Gideon’s hand, a chill deepening in her heart. The faint pain of a hidden wound surfaced from the depths of her being, her complexion turning somewhat pale. “I advise you to think twice before striking.” she said.

Although she didn’t have much recollection of her foster father, her elder brother described him as a very gentle man.

He was always very gentle and patient with all of their children, never resorting to hitting them.

However, when Gideon faced her, he would either chastise or strike her.

Gideon’s hand trembled slightly. In the past, he would have swung down without hesitation, but now, seeing that Aurelia was not looking at him with the same fearful and appeasing gaze as before, an inexplicable thought emerged in his heart.

Matthew stepped out.

After saying that, he felt somewhat inappropriate.

If Auri has Mr. Zeller as her financial backer, she might be useful to me. After all, he is a person whom Mr. Quigley trusts.

At the thought that his two daughters were Gordon and Matthew’s partners, Gideon was excited at the prospect of his family’s influence in Jacaster now.

“Yes, my father just wanted to discuss some matters with my sister. I don’t know why she had to talk back to him. I hope you don’t misunderstand, Mr. Quigley,” Melanie quickly defended Gideon.

Then, Melanie suddenly realized that Aurelia seemed to have become even more beautiful recently. Despite her expensive designer professional attire, she found herself surprisingly outshined by Aurelia’s simple jeans and white T–shirt.

She angled her body, hoping to shield Aurelia momentarily so that Matthew would be astounded by her beauty at first glance.

Matthew didn’t look at Melanie or Gideon. His gaze was transfixed on Aurelia. “Did they hit you?”

After all, Aurelia was now his wife. If Gideon were to hit her, it would be no different than hitting Matthew himself.

“Not yet.” Aurelia was somewhat taken aback. Is he worried about me?

Matthew’s eyes were terrifyingly deep, and he let out a cold hum.

“Mr. Quigley, she’s my daughter? How could I possibly hit her? Today, I came to Quigley Group to speak with you. I hope you can spare me a few minutes of your time.” Gideon seized the opportunity and quickly spoke up.

He discreetly glanced at Gordon once more. It seemed that Gordon was able to put in a word or two in front of Matthew.
