Purple Summersâs words shocked everyone.
Each sentence of hers suggested that the kidnap was a hoax staged by Sheldon Fowler himself!
Mrs. Fowler was so angry that she might as well have been smoking! Her son was kidnapped, his life hanging by a thread, and yet this little girl was so vicious, constantly slinging mud!
At this moment, as if she had just recalled, Yolanda Summers softly exclaimed, âAh!⦠Before, Sheldon told me that he embezzled money from his home, hoping to win big, but he still ended up losing everything. He was very frustrated and afraid of his motherâs anger, not knowing what to doâ¦â
This corroborated what Purple Summers had said.@@novelbin@@
âYou!⦠You defameâ¦â Mrs. Fowlerâs trembling fingers pointed at Purple Summers and Yolanda Summers, her lips quivering.
âMrs. Fowler,â Nathaniel Summers came forward from the crowd and stood next to Dylan Summers, his eyes calm, âI advise you to hurry to Walker Entertainment City. If you delay further, I fear it may be too late.â
âWhat do you mean?â Mrs. Fowler asked angrily. âAre you threatening me?!â
Nathaniel Summers lifted the corners of his mouth, an almost imperceptible sneer on his face as he glanced at the women of the Fowler family behind her, âDo I need to make myself clearer? If you donât want the Fowler name cut off from future generations, better hurry to Walker Entertainment City. You might still make it in time.â
Purple Summers frowned at Nathaniel Summers, not understanding why he would say such a thing.
Sheldon was clearly hiding out in a hotel, nice and safe. Was Nathaniel Summers making an empty scare to frighten Mrs. Fowler, or was he targeting Alexander Summers? After all, Alexander Summers was the mastermind behind Entertainment Cityâ¦
But this kind of targeting seemed rather weightless.
Sheldonâs younger aunt tugged at Mrs. Fowlerâs sleeve, nervously saying, âSister-in-law, since Sheldon owes the casino money, could they harm him? Iâve heard those debt collectors do things like cutting off ears and fingersâ¦â
All their faces turned pale.
Mrs. Fowler didnât dare to make a scene anymore, throwing a hateful glance at Yolanda Summers and Purple Summers before turning and hurrying away with a large group of older and younger womenâ¦
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Dylan Summers signalled the housekeeper with a glance, and the housekeeper, understanding the cue, immediately had the band continue playing.
The music eased the tense atmosphere as everyone came back to their senses, although inevitably, conversations still revolved around the Fowler family.
âWhy doesnât the Fowler family have a single man?â
âBoth parents are long deceased. Mr. Fowler was the eldest son who went on a mountain hiking trip with his younger brother, but an accident occurred, and neither came backâ¦â
âMrs. Fowler has had it tough, no wonder sheâs so anxious about her son.â
âWhat good does being anxious do? Didnât you hear what was said earlier? Heâs got a massive gambling debtâ¦â
âAfter all, brought up among women, what achievements can he have?â
That comment was somewhat sexist, attracting Camilla Farrellâs disapproval.
Knowing Camilla Farrell was particularly sensitive about such topics, the speaker hurriedly changed the subject, raising their voice to ask Nathaniel Summers, âThird young master, what did you mean by too late? Did you see something with your Ghost Eyes?â
As soon as those words were spoken, everyone eagerly turned to Nathaniel Summers.
Having Ghost Eyes look at oneself might feel uncomfortable, but if Ghost Eyes were looking at someone else, everyone was the sameâeager for a spectacle, no trouble too great.
Nathaniel Summers maintained his indifferent smile, speaking unhurriedly, âI did see something, but itâs nothing to fuss over. You will all know soon enough.â
He put down his wine glass, bending slightly in a polite gesture, âPlease enjoy your evening, Iâm a bit tired and must excuse myself.â
Nathaniel Summers turned to go upstairs, his black silhouette disappearing at the turn of the staircase.
Jane McCain leaned towards Purple Summers, âPurple, your third brother is so mysterious!â
What she really wanted to say was that Nathaniel Summers gave off a creepy vibe, quite frightening, but considering he was Purpleâs brother, Jane McCain spoke more diplomatically.
Zara Jameson then said, âPerhaps people who learn certain spells or secret arts all have this sense of mystery.â
âYeah, youâre right,â Jane McCain nodded.
As the banquet was drawing to a close, news suddenly came through: Sheldon Fowler had committed suicide by jumping from Walker Entertainment City.
