Nathaniel Summers returned home for the first time that night, and Purple Summers had nightmares all night long.
It was less of a nightmare and more of a memory.
She dreamt of her own death, her body soaking at the riverbed, her flesh gradually rotting and turning white.
The feeling was too horrifying and utterly desperate. Her soul wandered without support, helplessly guarding her deceased body, unable to see a glimmer of hope.
When Purple woke up, she found her face drenched with cold sweat.
She gasped slightly, feeling suffocated and irritable, so she simply put on some clothes, got up, and opened the window to let in the fresh air.
Upon looking up, she saw Nathaniel Summers in the distance.
He sat in the desolate garden, dressed in black, with a bag of corn kernels placed on the wooden bench. He took a small handful and fed them one by one to Tiny.
Purpleâs expression suddenly froze as if chilled by the cold morning air.
Tiny never grew close to strangers.
Because Alexander Summers was rarely at home, Tiny didnât even grow much attached to Alexander, except for Purple or Atra Blancâno one else could expect it to stay calmly by their side!
Purple pursed her lips tightly and immediately put on her coat and hurried downstairs, running to the garden and stopping about 5 meters from Nathaniel.
âTiny,â Purple called out, âCome back!â
Nathaniel stood up promptly, and Tiny jumped onto his shoulder, shaking its dark feathers.
Purpleâs voice was lowered, with a hint of sternness, âCome here.â
Tiny cocked its head as if hesitant. It flapped its wings and finally flew over to Purple.
Nathanielâs face showed a faint smile, his smile void of warmth, giving off a chilly vibe.
âWhat are you afraid of?â he asked.
Purple ignored him, holding Tiny and turning to walk back.
âArenât you curious about what I found on this trip?â Nathaniel raised his voice again to ask.@@novelbin@@
Purpleâs steps halted for a moment, pausing in place.
Nathaniel approached from behind her, unhurried, and leaning close to her ear, he whispered, âRemember how Jade Carlson died? She was burned alive. Neighbors heard her screams and wanted to save her, but they couldnât open the door⦠The fire department didnât arrive on time, and she continued to call out, screaming for twenty minutes until her voice grew weaker and weaker⦠When she was carried out, her body was like a piece of charcoal. Do you really think it was an accident?â
âWhy are you telling me this?â Purple remained unmoved.
âJade Carlson died because of you. Who knew she made a phone call that day?â Nathaniel chuckled lightly, âThere was you, there was me and⦠him.â
Purpleâs hands clenched tightly.
âYouâre wrong,â she said coldly, âAfter Jade left the Summers Family, she could have gone anywhere, met anyone. Nathanial, telling me all this now is meaningless!â
Nathaniel laughed and shook his head gently, âYou look so adorable right now. How much do you love him? So much that youâre willing to deceive yourself?â
Purple took a deep breath and turned to look straight into Nathanielâs eyes.
âThis isnât self-deception,â Purple said seriously, âYou want to say Alexander Summers killed Jade Carlson, right? Then present the evidence. Donât be like a scheming troublemaker who throws out a few divisive words every now and then. It makes you look petty to me!â
Nathanielâs eyes narrowed slightly, âIf I present the evidence, would you dare to look at it?â
âWhat evidence do you have?â Purple asked.
âI have a witness,â Nathanielâs lips curled into a cynical smile, âI can arrange a meeting for you, but you canât tell anyone, and you must go alone.â
Purple seemed to hear an incredibly ridiculous joke.
âHow can I believe you?â Purple sneered at him, âPerhaps you want to kidnap me?â
Without looking at Nathaniel again, she held Tiny and turned to leave.
