Purple Summers became famous so suddenly that even the colleagues in Dylan Summersâs office had heard about it. Although Dylan didnât know what exactly had happened, he felt proud and greeted Purple Summers with a grin when she came home from school.
That smiling face gave Purple goosebumps.
Yolanda Summers was still the same, carrying herself with the air of a fine lady, with a strange and sarcastic demeanor.
Besides that, everything at home was business as usual. Despite her sudden fame online, Purpleâs life hadnât changed much.
It wasnât long before Caitlin Carter arrived in Clearwater and arranged to meet with Purple.
Purple had heard about Caitlin Carter from Marcel Jefferson, saying that she was a lady from Kingsley City whose family member had been imprisoned for murder and had been in jail for two or three years. She wanted to ask Purple for help with reopening the case.
Logically, with both witness testimony and physical evidence present, plus the passage of two or three years, the likelihood of successfully overturning the conviction was incredibly slim.
But the lady had come asking for help with earnest sincerity, and it seemed only right, both emotionally and logically, to at least meet with her.
Caitlin Carter took the meeting very seriously, even inquiring from Marcel Jefferson about Purpleâs favorite dishes before setting the meeting at a restaurant.
When they finally met, Caitlin paused as she looked at the face so similar to her husbandâs. Violet Nelsonâs words involuntarily came to her mind.
Although she didnât believe it, she couldnât help but be amazed by the coincidences of the world.
Purple Summers and Christopher Simonson really did look alike.
No wonder there were those who had come up with the absurd speculation about an illegitimate daughter. If Caitlin hadnât trusted Christopher Simonson completely, she might have had her doubts as well.
As the mediator, Marcel Jefferson introduced them. âThis is Ms. Purple Summers, and this is Ms. Caitlin Carter. The case concerns Ms. Carterâs younger brother. Letâs sit down and talk about it.â
The three of them seated themselves, and as Caitlin looked at Purpleâs face, she couldnât help asking, âMs. Summers, so young and yet so knowledgeable about the lawâdo your parents also work in the judicial system?â
She even wanted to see what Purpleâs parents looked like. Would they resemble Christopher Simonson?
Purple shook her head with a smile, saying, âMs. Carter, the fact that youâve come to me suggests that you believe in me. As such, please trust me completely so that we can cooperate without any distractions, donât you agree?â
Purple had misunderstood Caitlin, thinking that she still harbored doubts about her capabilities.
Caitlin smiled awkwardly, âYouâre right.â
The dishes they had ordered hadnât arrived yet, but Caitlin presented the documents she had brought for Purple to review. They contained detailed court records, witness statements, photographs of the physical evidence, and the victimâs autopsy report.
âHave you appealed the case?â Purple noticed there were two sets of court records.@@novelbin@@
Caitlin nodded, âYes, but the verdict was upheld on the second trial.â
âThe first lawyer was no good, didnât give it his all. The second lawyer actually performed quite well, but unfortunately, the evidence wasnât strong enough to persuade the jury.â After looking over the materials, Purple asked Caitlin, âMay I make a copy to keep?â
âOf course,â Caitlin replied promptly, âTake it, Ms. Summers. I had these copies made for this purpose.â
While they were talking, suddenly there were two flashes outside the window.
Purple furrowed her brows and looked out the window. A car was parked at the roadside, and someone with a camera quickly pulled back inside the car and closed the window.
This wasnât anything unusual. Since she had become famous online, there were always some people sneaking around taking photos.
Purple didnât take it to heart and continued discussing the case with Caitlin.
However, this oversight made her famous once again.
The next day, the headlines on all the major media websites were about Purple Summers! The titles were sensational: âReal or Fake Heiress? Tycoonâs Illegitimate Daughter!â
The meeting between Caitlin Carter and Purple had been misinterpretedâas the Simonson Family wanting to recognize their long-lost daughter?
Reading the baseless rumors in the news, Purple felt as disgusted as if she had swallowed a fly!
