âMrs. Carter, rest assured, I will convey your brotherâs case to Ms. Summers in full detail,â Marcel Jefferson reassured, âBy tomorrow at the latest, I will inform you of the outcome.â
Clients who come knocking in such an urgent manner were not new to Marcel Jefferson, and he handled them with composure.
However, his words did little to soothe Caitlin Carterâs anxious heart.
What if Purple Summers doesnât take the case?
Having someone else pass along the information can never be as clear, and itâs certainly not as sincere as making a personal visit.
Caitlin Carterâs mind raced, and she quickly made up her mind, âWhen will Mr. Jefferson return to Clearwater? I would like to meet Ms. Summers in person.â
Caitlin Carterâs urgency was so pressing that Marcel Jefferson felt the pressure and couldnât help but caution her, âMrs. Carter, you may not like what Iâm about to say, but⦠I still want you to be prepared psychologically. Ms. Summers is just an intern at my law firm; itâs her moral duty if she takes your case, her right if she doesnât. Sheâs a student and not obligated to take on your brotherâs case. Do you understand what Iâm saying?â
Caitlin Carter was momentarily stunned, then revealed a smile, âMr. Jefferson, you and Ms. Summers must be very close friends, right?â
If they werenât very close friends, what lawyer would push potential business away?
Seeing no anger on her face, Marcel Jefferson breathed a sigh of relief and smiled in response, âMadam, I wonât hide it from you, my law firm was barely surviving at one point; itâs thanks to her that weâve reached todayâs size. She also taught me a lotâsheâs like a half teacher to me.â
Caitlin Carter nodded slightly, not one to be unreasonable. Despite the bluntness of Marcel Jeffersonâs words, after pondering them, she felt more at ease.
It at least assured her of the other partyâs integrity, that they were not blinded by greed. Handing her younger brotherâs case over to them made Caitlin Carter feel more secure!
âDonât worry, Mr. Jefferson, I wonât coerce anyone. I just want to explain things clearly to Ms. Summers,â Caitlin Carter said, âMy brother has been wrongfully imprisoned for two years. Thereâs not a moment when Iâm not thinking about how to get him out, and I hope you can understand my feelings.â
âI can understand,â Marcel Jefferson nodded, âIf there truly has been an injustice, I believe Ms. Summers will do her utmost to help you.â
Caitlin Carter felt somewhat reassured and made an arrangement with Marcel Jefferson for the trip to Clearwater, then returned home.
Even with several days to go before the trip to Clearwater, she couldnât be calm. She called her parents, then began packing her bags.
Christopher Simonson came home early today and found his wife busily packing as soon as he entered their room.@@novelbin@@
Caitlin Carter looked anxious, but there was a spark in her eyes, and her complexion was radiant. Christopher Simonson couldnât quite tell if her mood was good or bad at that moment.
âWhatâs going on?â he asked with a smile.
Caitlin Carter, folding clothes in her hands, responded upon hearing him, âIâm going to Clearwater City!â
âClearwater?â Christopher Simonson was slightly taken aback, ââ¦Why are you going to Clearwater?â
âTo meet Ms. Summers!â Caitlin Carterâs face shone as she turned to glance at him, âRemember the most beautiful law exam candidate? I made a special trip to observe her in court yesterday, and it was unbelievable! Christopher, itâs possible that thereâs real hope for my brotherâs case this time!â
Christopher Simonson was quite surprised, ââ¦Is she from Clearwater?â
The news mentioned that Purple Summers was a student at Grey School of Clearwater City, but being a busy man, how could Christopher have paid attention to a seemingly ordinary exam candidate?
âYes, she studies in Clearwater.â Caitlin Carter didnât notice her husbandâs surprise and continued packing her clothing while speaking, âChristopher, you really should meet her. That child is a genius. I wonder what kind of parents raised her.â
