Purple Summers was wondering if she had offended anyone lately.
But she couldnât think of anyone.
She felt she had been very well-behaved, focusing on healing and preparing for exams. No one could be more obedient than her.
Yet, the woman clearly was acting under someoneâs direction; otherwise, why would she come to the school for no reason? Really strangeâ¦
After returning home, Atra Blanc asked Purple Summers, âWhy did you come back so late? Didnât the teacher say you donât need to attend the evening self-study anymore?â
âI ran into a weirdoâ¦â Purple Summers told Atra Blanc about what had happened that day.
Atra Blanc, kind-hearted as she was, didnât find it suspicious and said, âMaybe she was just too panicked and thatâs why she didnât make herself clear? Many people become anxious and confused when something happens. If we meet someone like that again, we should help if we can.â
âYeah.â Purple Summers smiled, âIf she comes looking for me again, Iâll ask her carefully.â
When Alexander Summers came back in the evening, Purple Summers asked him in a low voice, âCould I borrow a couple of people from you?â

Alexander immediately became alert, âWhat happened?â
Purple Summers repeated the incident she had told Atra Blanc about earlier that day.
Mother and son reacted very differently. Alexanderâs eyes filled with a threatening air, âSheâs looking for trouble with you? Sheâs tired of living. Donât worry about this; Iâll arrange someone to handle it.â
Purple Summersâs smiling face instantly fell, and she asked coldly, âOh, and how are you planning to âhandleâ it?â
Alexander said, âDidnât she say she came a long distance to find you? She can go back where she came from. Iâll have someone send her packing. That shouldnât be too much, right?â
âNot too much, but Iâm not pleased,â Purple Summers said with a straight face, âI need to figure out whoâs trying to set me up. If you do everything, whatâs left for me? Thatâs no fun. I want to deal with it myself.â
Alexander thought about it and saw no harm in arranging some help for her; after all, he wouldnât let her end up at a disadvantage, so he didnât insist any further.
âAlright, tomorrow Iâll have Zack Wallace over there keeping an eye out,â he said.
âNot Zack Wallace,â Purple Summers shook her head, âHeâs always around you, and his face is too conspicuous. Get someone else.â
Alexander was always willing to give her what she asked for: âFine, Iâll arrange two less conspicuous ones for you.â
Purple Summers was pleased. She glanced at the corridor outside the room, which was empty, tiptoed, and quickly kissed Alexander on the cheek.
Alexander felt a warmth in his heart, slightly stirred. His eyes, dark as ink, squinted teasingly at Purple Summers, âWhat, not afraid of mom seeing us now?â
âNot afraid.â Purple Summers blinked her bright eyes, proudly stating, âMom only forbade you from having close contact with me, she didnât forbid me.â
Alexander was amused by her flawed logic and pushed his luck, âThatâs not what you call close contact. Itâs perfunctory, showing no attention to detail. Clearly, you havenât been practicing seriously; all my earnest demonstrations have gone to wasteâ¦â
âGo away, pervert!â Purple Summers pushed him toward the door, âIâm going to read now!â
Alexander went out, laughing.
âHey, wait!â Purple Summers called out to him again.
âWhat else does the young lady need?â Alexander asked, his lips curving wickedly.
âI need two membership cards,â Purple Summers racked her brains to remember, âDo you have ones for⦠whatâs it called? Parrotbeak Entertainment City?â
Alexander chuckled, âIf youâre with me, do you even need a card?â
âItâs not for me; itâs for Zara Jameson and Jane McCain.â
Since Purple Summers had gone to school, she had made a few friends; Alexander still had some recollection of them, âOh, those two girls. They arenât my wife, so I canât just give away stuff for free. How about this: when we get married, you can invite them to be bridesmaids.â
Purple Summers rolled her eyes; he really wasnât willing to take any loss.
