A few days passed, and it was finally the first day of the new semester.
Purple Summersâ leg injury had improved significantly. There was still a hidden pain when she walked, but it was within a bearable range.
Atra Blanc insisted that she use crutches for another week to avoid re-injuring the wound.
On September 1st, Atra Blanc took Purple Summers to school and personally explained the situation to her teacher in the hopes of excusing her from the physical education classes for the upcoming month.
The teacher was very understanding, and knowing that Purple Summers would take the judicial examination in October, she expressed concern about her injury and whether it would affect the exam.
Purple Summers smiled and said it was nothing serious.
If Purple Summers passed the exam, she would become the youngest student in the history of the Judicial Training Institute, which would also bring glory to Grey School. As such, the school took it very seriously, not only allowing her to skip PE classes but also giving her permission to leave study hall early and go home to prepare for the exam.
Leaning on her crutches, Purple Summers took her time walking to the classroom, where her classmates surrounded her, some out of kindness and others out of curiosity, asking how she got injured.
Purple Summers didnât go into detail and simply said she fell.
However, Zara Jameson and Jane McCain knew exactly how Purple Summers got the injury on her leg.
At lunch break, considering Purple Summersâ difficulty with walking, Zara and Jane decided to get her lunch for her and then eat together in the classroom.
âNow the word outside is that Master Xander became interested in a woman at the Graves Familyâs banquet,â Jane gossiped with them. âSome people say itâs a smoke bomb by the Howard Family, claiming that Master Xander is already married with children, and his pursuit of women in public is just a cover for the woman he truly loves.â
Zara remarked, âItâs best they think so, to keep them from noticing Purple. Otherwise, I fear the school entrance will be blocked by reporters every day.â
Jokingly, Jane laughed, âIn my opinion, the later news might be the real smoke bomb. By mixing truth and fiction, he makes it impossible to tell whatâs real. Master Xander is quite clever.â
Purple Summers quietly ate her meal.
Jane nudged her arm. âPurple, donât you have any thoughts? Say something.â
âWhat can I possibly think?â Purple Summers continued to eat.
Zara also teased with a sly smile, âPurple, are you just shy?â
âArenât your meals getting cold? Arenât you going to eat?â Purple Summers, holding her chopsticks, picked up food from their lunch boxes, âThat would be such a waste.â
Jane caught Purple Summersâ chopsticks with her own, threatening, âListen to me, Purple, the time to test our friendship has come. Get me a lifetime VIP membership card to Parrotbeak Bay Entertainment City from Master Xander, and Iâll let you have this piece of broccoli from my plate!â
âWhat Parrotbeak Bay Entertainment City?â Zara immediately asked.
âItâs Parrotbeak Bay. Donât be fooled by its current state as a little run-down fishing village; once the Entertainment City is completed, it will rank among the top ten most luxurious entertainment cities worldwide!â Jane asserted confidently. âEven if you donât go there to have fun, selling it could make you a lot of money.â
Zara promptly picked a piece of garlic broccoli from her plate and put it in Purple Summersâ bowl, âThen I want one too, that whatâs-its-name membership card.â
Purple Summers couldnât help but give a wry smile, âItâs not even finished yet, where am I supposed to get a membership card from?â
âI heard from my mom that some people have already got them, like the governor of Wheatley, the mayor of Pearlpoint City, oh, and Young Master Graves!â Janeâs news was as reliable as ever.
Resigned, Purple Summers stuffed the broccoli into her mouth, slowly chewing and thinking to herself: Todayâs garlic broccoli is really expensive.
In the afternoon self-study session, Purple Summers didnât have to attend and left school early on her crutches.
The Summers Familyâs car was parked at the school gate, and at the same time, a garishly made-up woman was also there.
The woman appeared to be arguing with the driver, her brightly polished nails propped on the car door, forbidding the driver to close it.
As soon as the driver saw Purple Summers coming out, he acted like he had been granted a pardon and immediately said, âMiss Purple Summers, this woman insists on meeting you!â
