Almost instinctively, Purple Summers charged forward!
Just as she had always wanted to do, she ran desperately, solely to throw herself into Alexander Summersâ arms.
When she passed the enormous cake, a flash of inspiration struck her, and she pushed the cake forcefully!
The cart, with wheels underneath, charged towards the person on the ground under the force of the push, but the sound of gunfire still rang outâ
Bang!
The cart toppled over, and the cream cake, like a mountain, buried the person in an instant.
Purple Summers fell too.
Her running figure tumbled heavily to the ground, falling like a stricken butterfly, enchantingly beautiful, yet on the verge of extinguishing like a flame!
Everyone was shaken to their core!
Gavin Graves was particularly heartbroken. His heart felt as if it was being squeezed by an invisible hand, the pain so intense he couldnât breathe!
She was so young, so beautiful, and had not yet unfolded the most splendid postures life had to offer. How could she die?!
âPurple!â Alexander Summers scooped her up in one move, his face already a deathly pale, âPurple Summers!â
Purple Summers lifted her dust-stained little face, eyes brimming with large beads of tears.
âIt hurts⦠Itâs killing me!â¦â She gasped with pain.
Seeing her alive, Alexanderâs heart, which had stopped, finally snapped back into place.
He showed a smile of immense relief.
Purple Summers was in pain and angry, reaching out to pull his hair, âYou jerk, do you even have a conscience? Iâm almost dying of pain, and you can still smile? Hurry and take me to the hospital!â
Rescue had just arrived, with several helicopters circling overhead.
Without any delay, Alexander immediately took Purple Summers to the hospital.
The bullet hit Purple Summersâ thigh, causing her to fall on the spot, appearing as if sheâd been killed outright, which led to the misunderstanding.
The doctor said Purple Summers was very lucky; the bullet hadnât hit any major arteries, and her bones were intact. She should be able to recover fully after some days of rest.
But as the bullet was being removed, Alexander watched as clumps of blood-soaked cotton balls piled up in the instrument tray, and he became lost in thought, sweat breaking out in cold bursts.
Due to the anesthetic, Purple Summers felt no pain and instead had a good sleep.
When she woke up, she saw Alexander sitting by her bedside, looking as if he had suffered immensely, his face completely drained of colour.
âWhatâs wrong with you?â Purple Summers was surprised.
Alexanderâs dark eyes fixed on her, the look in them deep and ominous, his mood somewhat strange.
âAre you a pig?â His voice was hoarse, âWith so many bodyguards around me, did you really need to take a bullet for me? Did you really need to show off?â
Purple Summersâ eyes reddened instantly, and she felt extremely wronged.
She had been scared so badly at the time, how could she have considered all that?
Purple Summers turned her face away, giving Alexander the back of her head, not wanting to deal with him.
Alexander let out a long sigh, bent down, and kissed her hair repeatedly, his hoarse voice saying, âHow is this saving me? Youâre practically asking for my life! Do you understand?â
His sigh, his voice, and his kisses made Purple Summersâ heart melt into a soft mess, her anger completely dissipated.
She turned her face back, blinked her eyes, and asked innocently, âAre you still raising pigs then?â
Alexander felt that Purple Summers hadnât really taken in what he said, that he should scold her severely.
But looking at her now, trying to be cute and win his favorâ¦
He couldnât help but smile.
âYes.â Alexander gently tousled her hair, sighing, âPigs that can run so fast are rare these days. Maybe I should fatten you up, make you so heavy you canât run, and see how youâre going to take bullets for others then.â
âI saved you, and yet youâre making fun of me!â Purple Summers got angry, attempted to pinch his face, but with one stretch of her arm, she cried out in pain, âOuch, ouch, it hurtsâ¦â
Alexander asked anxiously, âAre you hurt anywhere else?â
Purple Summers extended her arm to show him.
She had fallen on a path of pebbles, and her elbows and knees had turned into several patches of blue and purple, looking quite pitiful.
Though the injuries were minor, Alexander still felt distressed.
He turned to find a nurse for medicine, but when he opened the door, he saw Gavin Graves standing outside.
