âThe problem is, you canât even see something like capability if you wanted to,â Jane McCain said with a laugh, shrugging her shoulders, âso why not just pick a handsome one instead?â
The candidates for the election all had resumes that were nearly perfect, making it difficult to find any flaws.
Since they were all excellent, it was down to who had the highest attractiveness! â That was Jane McCainâs logic.
Zara Jameson asked them, âSecond Young Master Graves is having a birthday party on Saturday, are we going?â
Although she had been invited to the party, she wasnât very familiar with the host, and Zara wasnât the type to seek out excitement, so she hesitated a bit.
Jane immediately hugged Zaraâs arm, âCome on, letâs go. Second Young Master Gravesâ birthday banquet is bound to have a lot of stars, and my mom will be there too. If you guys donât go, Iâll be so bored by myself!â
Ryan Wesley then said, âIf you guys are going, Iâll go too.â
Purple Summers laughed, âThen letâs all go together.â After all, the birthday party was just one evening and wouldnât disrupt her usual review sessions.
With that, the four of them planned to attend the Graves Family banquet together.
A few days later, it was the day of Gerald Gravesâ birthday banquet.
Purple Summers thought to herself as she rode to the Graves residence, âIf Alexander knew I was attending another manâs birthday banquet⦠and going out late at night, would he die of anger?â
Alexanderâs jealousy wasnât ordinary, and he was particularly domineering and unreasonable, which Purple was all too familiar with.
Her mentality was also strange, enjoying a secretive delight whenever she managed to infuriate Alexander to the point where he was fuming, even though she would be scared at the same time.
Seeking a thrill from time to time felt quite satisfyingâ¦
âHave I been with Alexander so long that Iâm starting to become a little twisted too?â Purple asked herself introspectively and sighed, âBad company corrupts good character, huhâ¦â
Upon arriving at the Graves residence, she found the exterior packed with various luxury cars. Ryan, Jane, and Zara had already arrived and were chatting and laughing outside, waiting for her to join them.
The sky at six oâclock was dark and gloriously beautiful, with the sunset brilliant as fire, casting abstract washes of ink and pastel colors across the heavens.
The lawn of the Graves familyâs courtyard was full of guests, mostly younger men and women, with some elders gathered together talking. Attendants bustled about, music filled the air with cheer, and the atmosphere was extremely lively.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Not far away stood a gigantic twenty-one-layer cake, particularly resplendent and eye-catching, with white sweet cream piled layer upon layer into a delicate, exquisite structure.
âIf it rainsâ¦â Purple couldnât help but mutter as she looked at the cake.
Jane snorted with laughter and slapped Purple on the back, âHaha! Youâre so naughty!â
Purple smiled sheepishly; it was just a casual thought sheâd had.
The birthday party was buffet-style, so the four of them didnât need any special attention and found a spot on their own, eating and chatting leisurely.
Each time a guest arrived at the Gravesâ grand entrance, it caused a small stir.
Thanks to Second Young Master Gravesâ connections, many stars had been invited. The wealthy young guests were starstruck, eagerly approaching their favorite celebrities for conversation.
However, the biggest commotion came when Roy Howard appearedâas the future family head of the Howard Family, he almost monopolized the attention of the entire venue.
Second Young Master Graves happily ran over and hugged Roy, saying, âBro, you really honor me! You actually left work to come for my birthday!â
Roy smiled, his peripheral gaze sweeping across the room and spotting Purple in an inconspicuous corner, before calmly shifting his eyes away.
At that moment, an excited cry broke out from the periphery!
âOh my God! Look!â
âRoy Howard is here! The head of the Howard Family is here!â
âWhy is he here?!â
âGosh, it really is Roy Howard! Iâve never seen him attend this kind of party before!â
Gerald looked flabbergasted, which quickly turned into a huge surprise!
He hugged Roy again, this time with more force. âBro! You really are my true brother! To make my birthday so special, you even brought the head of the Howard Family! This is such an honor!â
Royâs eyes were deep and thoughtful as he looked over, saying calmly, âYouâre wrong, he wasnât invited; he came on his own.â
