Friday came in a blink of an eye.
Jane McCain and Sebastian Douglas had planned to meet on Saturday, and Purple Summers couldnât think of a suitable reason to stop Jane from going to the Douglas familyâs home, nor could she fathom the other partyâs intent. In the end, she could only remind Jane to be careful when she went there.
Jane agreed wholeheartedly. The murderer hadnât been caught yet, so of course, she had to be cautious.
Thinking of the murderer, Jane couldnât help but feel a sense of impending danger and said to Purple, âMrs. Douglas moved away from the Douglas family home with her kids; could the murderer shift his target to Young Master Douglas? If thatâs the case, wouldnât Bastian be in danger?â
Purple thought for a moment and vaguely replied, âMaybe.â
âIâll have to tell Bastian to be careful,â Jane muttered to herself.
At that moment, there was a slight commotion outside the classroom. Many boys ran outside, passing the news to each other: âThereâs a beauty outside!â
âWhere, where?â
âDid you see her? Sheâs over there, talking to Mr. Angelo!â
âWow, sheâs so prettyâ¦â
More boys ran out of the classroom, while the girls felt disdainful, thinking them shallow.
Purple wasnât one to join the crowd and didnât go out. But Jane was somewhat curious. Purple then urged her, âDonât bother, just nap on the desk for a bit so you wonât feel sleepy during the afternoon classes.â
Not long after, the classâs language teacher, Mr. Angelo, arrived at the classroom door with a beaming smile and called, âPurple Summers, your mom is here; come out for a moment.â
The whole class was in an uproar.
The boys in particular were almost floored!
They thought it was a beautiful older sister, but it turned out to be a classmateâs mom?!
âPurple, your mom looks so young!â
âIs your mom an actress? She takes great care of herself!â
Everyone was abuzz, and Purple couldnât help but feel embarrassed, her face turning slightly red as she left the classroom.
Indeed, Atra Blanc was waiting outside. She was wearing a dark cyan tea silk tight-fitting slit dress paired with a plain gray tasseled shawl. Her eyes were smiling, as if she had stepped out of a painting, radiating a gentle and attractive warmth.
Visiting her daughterâs school was considered an important occasion, so Atra Blanc had applied light makeup today, looking even more exquisite and beautiful than usual, attracting the attention of many onlookers.
âMom, what are you doing here?â Purple asked curiously.
âI came to look at houses and thought since itâs your naptime now, why not go see them together?â Atra said softly, her smile gentle and elegant, her aura as refined as an orchid.
âOh, sure.â Purple nodded.
They had talked about buying a house near the school last time, so it shouldnât be too far from the school. It wouldnât be much trouble to go take a look.
Mr. Angelo, standing nearby, was exceptionally enthusiastic and asked, âAre you going to Garden View Court? My house is over there; the Community is quite nice.â
Upon hearing this, Atra responded, âReally? How long have you lived there? Iâve heard they did a nice job with the greenery, and thereâs even a lake in the Community.â
âThereâs a lake, and theyâve even got a few swans. Theyâve made it quite beautiful, and the property management is quite responsible.â
The two of them chatted about the topic of housing.
Somehow, it ended with Mr. Angelo accompanying Atra Blanc and Purple Summers to look at housesâ¦
On the way to see the houses, Purple couldnât help but think: Mr. Angelo, heâs single, right?
By age, Mr. Angelo seemed to be two years younger than Atra, but since Atra looked so young, the two of them together didnât look mismatched.
But Purple felt it was strange, perhaps it was just unusual to suddenly see someone being so attentive to her momâ¦
After arriving at the Community, while Mr. Angelo was introducing the surrounding environment to Atra, Purple lagged a few steps behind and called Alexander Summers.
âI have to tell you, our language teacher seems to be pursuing our mom,â Purple whispered into the phone.
