Everyone had drunk and was having a blast.
Allen Rivera had also had a few drinks, and under the influence of alcohol, even the most serious people could become unrestrained, while the introverted could become lively.
When it came to matters involving a case, Allen Rivera never spoke too much in front of outsiders, but the atmosphere was rarely this good, and since the case had not been officially filed, there was no need for deliberate secrecy.
âDo you know Norman Douglas?â Allen Rivera, holding his wine glass, asked them with a smile.
Zara Jameson and Jane McCain were completely bewildered, while the others, Aria Jackson, Marcel Jefferson and the like, showed understanding expressions.
Purple Summers was also very familiar with this person; one could say that as long as you dealt with the courts, it was impossible not to know Norman Douglas, because he was the only Justice in Clearwater City.
The Huaya Empire had a total of nine Justices, who were the leaders of the Empireâs judicial departments, in charge of the Supreme Prosecutorsâ Office, and also symbols of the highest legal authority.
âNorman Douglas committed a crime?â Purple Summers suddenly sobered up a bit and frowned at Allen Rivera.
If a Justice was involved in a crime, the nature of the case was extraordinary, and as a prosecutor, Allen Rivera should be discreet and not discuss such matters in public.
Allen Rivera seemed to read Purple Summersâs thoughts and said with a smile, âItâs not him; something strange happened in his family, and I am preparing to file a case for investigation.â
âWhat kind of strange incident?â someone at the table asked aloud.
âLast week, Mrs. Douglas called the police, saying someone wanted to kill her child. When the officers went to the Douglas Family, they were told that Mrs. Douglas was suffering from postpartum depression and was a bit delirious.â
As Allen Rivera spoke, the previously noisy dinner table fell silent.
ââ¦The officers tried to check on Mrs. Douglas, but the door was locked, and they couldnât get in. Eventually, through the glass window, they saw Mrs. Douglas and her baby, both unharmed. The officers questioned the servant, found nothing out of the ordinary, and left⦠However, two days later, Mrs. Douglas called the police again, claiming someone wanted to harm her child.â
The tone of Allen Riveraâs voice was very calm and steady, but for some reason, the girls felt a chilling sensation.
Allen Rivera looked around at everyone and smiled slightly, âThe officers went to the Douglas home again and returned without accomplishing anything. Mrs. Douglas and the baby were both very safe, very healthyâ¦â
âThen why would Mrs. Douglas lie?â Jane McCain couldnât help but ask, âWas she really suffering from postpartum depression?â
âNo, her mental state was very good,â Allen Rivera shook his head, âI visited her myself, and though she had indeed suffered from depression after giving birth, at least when I was there, she showed no signs of depression.â
âShe had it before?â Purple Summers quickly caught the significant detail, âShe had children before?â
âAfter marrying Norman Douglas, she had three children. The first two died unexpectedly within six months of birth, which was a big blow to her, so she suffered from depression,â Allen Rivera replied.
Jane McCain and Zara Jameson leaned in close to each other, tense, ââ¦Did someone in the Douglas Family harm her children?â
âItâs what anyone would think, I guess. After all, for two children to die unexpectedly in a row, itâs too much of a coincidence,â said Allen Rivera, âBut Norman Douglas insisted it was his wifeâs depression that led to her delusions, claiming that Mrs. Douglas has become paranoid, always suspecting that someone in the house is out to harm her child.â
People at the table exchanged glances.
âInteresting, isnât it?â Marcel Jefferson said proudly, âIf it had been someone else, perhaps they would have been fooled by the Justice, but our prosecutor Allen Rivera is no ordinary man! He spotted something amiss at a glance!â
âWhat was amiss?â Everyoneâs curiosity was piqued, and they all turned to look at Allen Rivera.
