Zack Wallace never mentioned punishing someone privately, nor would he dare admit to it.
Others might not know, but he was well aware that Ms. Summers, though she looked just like a young girl, was actually a prosecutor who had once upheld justice with zeal. The thing she despised the most was when someone broke the law despite knowing it.
Every time Master Xander mentioned her, he would express his utmost disdain, calling her hidebound, obstinate, foolish, naive, and often said she had a âholier-than-thouâ attitude.
Yet, despite speaking so harshly of her, he loved her to an extreme, insisting on clutching her body tightly and bringing it back, determined to defy fate.
Zack Wallace wouldnât dare say it out loud, but he secretly wondered: Did the noble Master Xander have a masochistic streak in him?
But he only dared think secretly about it.
When Purple Summers called to inquire about Bella Foster, Zack Wallace dealt with it and immediately went to report to Alexander Summers.
Alexander was entertaining several uncles from the Howard Family who held significant positions within the clan.
These uncles were not hostile forces, but rather those who had acknowledged Alexanderâs status. They were advanced in age and no longer keen on dealing with violent affairs. Under Alexanderâs leadership these past few years, they had received ample dividends and led comfortable lives. They were not looking for any unrest in the family head position.
ââ¦Now that everyone is relatively calm, this is the time to strike while the iron is hot and set things straight with you and Lily! So that those people no longer have a reason to cause trouble with your identity!â one uncle suggested.
Another agreed, âThatâs right, after all, what everyone fears is the Howard Familyâs assets falling into the hands of outsiders. As long as you and Lily have a child, and the child takes the Howard surname, the problem will be solved easily!â
Alexander smiled upon hearing this, asking, âUncle, do you think Lily and I will have children?â
The uncle was taken aback, clearly also recalling Lily Howardâs distinct bearing⦠alas, it was too forced.
âIâve already discussed the matter of children with Lily,â Alexander said with a light smile, exuding a graceful and aristocratic demeanor, âTo be frank, Iâm merely safeguarding what belongs to Damian Howard, and in the future, the Howard Familyâs assets will only be handed over to members of the Howard Family. You all can rest assured.â
The uncles exchanged glances with each other.
âAlexander, we naturally trust how you handle affairsâ¦â
After the conversation concluded, they stood up to leave.
As they were leaving, they gave a final reminder to Alexander, âThe elder brother is over ninety years old now, and once you win his approval, this matter will be almost set. Alexander, you have done a lot for the Howard Family over the years, and we see the efforts youâve made. We would all be displeased to see ungrateful individuals take over the family head position!â
The elder brother the uncles spoke of was the previous family head.
If others disagreed, Alexander could fight them off, but if the former family head disagreed, it would greatly affect Alexanderâs standing within the Howard Family. Moreover, as Damian Howardâs biological father, Alexander would never lay a hand on the old man.
The unclesâ words were both a show of loyalty and a piece of advice.
Alexander smiled as he saw them out.
Zack Wallace waited until they had all left before coming in.
Alexander sat on the sofa and poured himself half a glass of whiskey, leisurely taking a couple of sips.
âWhat is it?â he asked.
Zack Wallace promptly replied, âMs. Summers just called to ask how we handled Bella Foster.â
Alexander raised an eyebrow, asking, âWhat did you say?â
Zack Wallaceâs face nearly burst with a grin, âI said she was sent to the police station!â he declared triumphantly.
âIdiot,â Alexanderâs eyes darkened slightly as he frowned, âYou should have said, she was sent to the police station by the people from the Graves Family.â
Zack Wallace was stunned for a moment, then he understood and had an epiphany, âMaster Xander, you are truly brilliant!â
Even if the lie was exposed in the future, it would appear to be the doings of the Graves Family, having nothing to do with them!
